Trio: Season 1, #3

September 24, 2000 by krisis

I suppose for all my fucking up, Trio is a very true thing. For example, last week i made it through two songs perfectly, and then turned in a fun but flawed version of a third song. My playing is obviously not always up to concert quality, and by posting the first live take that i make it through i show some of the thoughts (musical and actual) behind the songs. Sure, i might have messed up all three songs tonight, but wasn’t listening to it more fun, in a way, than listening to some glistening album cut? Maybe that’s just my love of Ani and Tori showing through, and maybe that’s a bit strange for someone who’s a fan of good music, but i love outtakes. And, rest assured, Trio is heavy on those.

lyrics to the new song, right now referred to as “punk”

How do you find your voice
when you've got it buried under
 years spent not digging out
how will you ever make a choice
when you can't even get the words
 out of your mouth

maybe we can join a punk band
if we half ass it you can scream
all the words and i'd get
by with a little try all you
need is a guitar and three or
four chords i'd go all out and buy
and electric a star is what we'd
be if i could just thrash it
but i think you need a chance to
say what you feel for real and
you shouldn't waste it

whoa-oa how could you ever make a choice
whoa-oa i think you need a voice for that
whoa-oa why don't we join a rock band
whoa-oa we could fade into the background

i think we need a wall of sound
around us so no one will know what
we are saying if we blend in they
can't pick on us and pick us out
and ruin our day maybe we should
go back to highschool where
i was a nerd and you were a lesbo
(i was a dyke and your were a smart-ass)
i know that we could do it again
you(i) could be the prom queen and
i(you) could be the captain of a team
any team we know now that it doesn't
matter what you win as long as you
look good within

but did you ever make a choice
i thought you needed a voice for that
whoa-oa why don't we join a rock band
whoa-oa we could fade into the background

I really can’t play guitar anymore… it’s so sad. However, i proved today that i might have a future in bass if i could stand not being in the spotlight constantly. I am getting good vibes about working on music with Gina this year… she just wrote a great song called “Nuclear Winter.” The upcoming CD could be a fully collaborative effort…

Electric Biscuit suddenly got ten times more fun than it used to be; it might have to do with their smooth new layout. Aside from getting huge bonus points for liking the house of yes, they have waded into the fray of the WeBlog World War (from now on to be known as WbWW1, until i think of something less clunky)

Yay for vegetarians in Philly!!! I might be flirting with poultry lately, but at heart i’m a veggie, and now the MacDonald’s in Suburban Station is serving a grilled veggie sandwhich! The rather newly established McD’s is only the fourt in the nation to carry the sandwhich, though all Center City locations are expected to carry it soon. I just found this out via Beautiful Freak, who should be all the more envious when she finds out that the MacDonald’s in question is on my way to working at coffee shop. My days of mooching high-priced pastries are over!
