It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Marvel Omnibus fans – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Elektra & Daredevil omnibus that does NOT exist – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.
For the next two weeks, I’ll be covering Marvel’s entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your Marvel oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot on Near Mint Condition on April 28, 2025.
Daredevil is back on screen with his new Disney+ series wrapping up this week, but the new show only yielded one new omnibus announced for 2025 – the long-demanded Daredevil by Nocenti & Romita Jr. Vol. 1, which has ranked in the Top 25 of all 12 years of the Tigereyes poll before cresting at #1 in 2024.
That likely means a second Nocenti volume could arrive to coincide with a second season of Daredevil: Born Again, but what about the read of Horn-Heads material – plus over forty years of Elektra comics that have never been in oversize format?!
If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for a list of books vetted by a gang of the biggest mapping nerds on the internet with explanations from yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.
Or, if you don’t care about omnibuses, just use this post to learn about Marvel’s history and find some great comics to read!

Daredevil Omnibus Mapping: Bronze Age Daredevil
Daredevil’s line of Silver Age omnibuses got the latest start of almost any Marvel hero, with a first volume out in 2017. The Silver Age wrapped up with Daredevil Vol. 2 in 2023, and the line pushed into the Bronze Age with Daredevil Vol. 3 in 2024. That’s all covered in See Guide to Daredevil.
What’s left to completely collect Daredevil from 1974 to the start of Ann Nocenti’s run in 1986? We’re only three books away from complete coverage!
Daredevil Vol. 4 (1975 – 1979) [fills gap to Miller]
Daredevil Vol. 3 shattered the “3 Masterworks” convention for classic omnibuses by collecting Daredevil Masterwork Volumes 8-11! Why? It’s all about this book and how it needs to fill a gap in the Daredevil omnibus line.
Frank Miller’s work on Daredevil begins with Daredevil (1964) #158. We already have Daredevil #158-191 in omnibus, with the annoying gap of issue #162 – not penned by Miller.
The current thinking on this omnibus line is that this Volume 4 would either perfectly fill in the gap from Daredevil (1964) #120-157 (or, maybe issue #158, which would mean it follows the “3 Masterworks” rule exactly. Then, Marvel might eventually re-issue an expanded version of the Miller omnibus with the missing issue restored and some other appearances from that era incorporated.
A vote for this book is a vote to fill the single remaining gap on the shelf to have a complete omnibus collection of Daredevil from 1964 to 1983!
This book would collect Daredevil (1964) #120-157 & Annual 4, Ghost Rider (1973) #20; Marvel Premiere (1972) #39-40 & 43; and material from Ghost Rider (1973) #19.
The existing and often-reprinted Daredevil by Frank Miller & Klaus Janson omnibus fits here – see Guide to Daredevil.
Daredevil by O’Neil, Miller, & Mazzucchelli (1983 – 1986) [fills gap from Miller to Nocenti]
While we have the Daredevil by Frank Miller Companion to collect a handful of Daredevil (1964) material following Miller’s run, most of that period has never been collected in oversize format. This book would perfectly fill the gap from the end of Miller to the beginning of Nocenti, which includes all of the “Born Again” storyline.
Based on the current trend of Masterworks mapping, it’s very likely this would be another Daredevil omnibus with 4 Masterworks.
A vote for this book is a vote to finally see all of Denny O’Neil’s run on Daredevil collected in oversize format in a book that fills the gap between the Frank Miller & Klaus Janson and Ann Nocenti Vol. 1 omnibuses.
This would collect Daredevil (1964) #192-234 and material from material from Marvel Fanfare (1982) #7, 10-13, & 15.
Daredevil Omnibus Mapping: Daredevil in the 90s
Thanks to the persistent efforts of Tigereyes poll voters, we now have Daredevil by Nocenti & Romita Jr. Vol. 1 to collect Daredevil (1964) through the mid-80s – see Guide to Daredevil. But, we still need three more volumes to cover the end of Nocenti’s run and all of his remaining issues from the 1990s.
Daredevil by & Nocenti Romita Jr. Vol. 2 (1989 – 1991)
We’ve long had questions of how Marvel would collect Ann Nocenti’s run on Daredevil (1964). Would they be dogmatic about only collecting Nocenti’s material, or would they use her name on the volume as an umbrella title to collect all of Daredevil’s material from the period of her run.
This year’s Daredevil by Nocenti & Romita Jr. Vol. 1 tells us that the answer is the latter – these volumes will collect all of Daredevil’s material as mapped in his Epic Collection line without any omissions!
A vote for this book is a vote to collect the back half of Ann Nocenti’s run on Daredevil, alongside a limited number of supporting appearances already mapped in Epic Collection.
This would collect Daredevil (1964) #267-291 & Annual 5-6, and material from the “Lifeform” annuals crossover (from Punisher (1987) Annual 3, Incredible Hulk (1968) Annual 16, and Silver Surfer (1987) Annual 3)
Daredevil by D. G. Chichester (1991 – 1995) [follows Nocenti’s run]
After the conclusion of Nocenti’s run, author D. G. Chichester took over Daredevil (1964) for a 40-issue run. This is the run that introduced the Black Suit, which is currently experiencing a surge of nostalgia with fans.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Chichester’s run in a single volume, alongside a crossover and other contemporaneous material.
This would collect Daredevil (1964) #292-332 & Annual 7-10, the “Dead Man’s Hand” crossover (from Nomad (1992) #4-6 and Punisher War Journal (1988) #45-47), Daredevil/Black Widow: Abattoir (1993) OGN, Daredevil: The Man Without Fear (1993) #1-5, and material from Marvel Holiday Special (1991) #2.
It could optionally include Daredevil: Black Armor (2023) #1-4, written later by Chichester.
Daredevil by DeMatteis, Kesel, Kelly, & Lobdell (1995 – 1998) [from Chichester to end of 1964 volume]
We typically wouldn’t map three speculative volumes in advance on any line, but because of the very obvious ends of the Nocenti and Chichester runs plus the mapping of the Epic Collection line we know exactly with this final collection of Daredevil (1964) would contain.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect the final four years of Daredevil (1964) in a single volume.
This would collect Daredevil (1964) #333-380, -1, & Daredevil / Deadpool Annual ’97. It could optionally include Elektra: Root of Evil (1995) #1-4 (which is included in the Epic Collection line).
The Marvel Knights by Joe Quesada Omnibus directly follows the conclusion of Daredevil (1964) to collect the beginning of Daredevil (1998) – see Guide to Daredevil.
Daredevil Omnibus Mapping: Modern Daredevil
This is a wild sentence, but: every ongoing Daredevil series from 1998 to 2023 has already been collected in omnibus, except for 11 issues! We already have a pair of omnibuses for Bendis, a pair for Brubaker, a Shadowland omnibus, a pair for Waid, a huge volume for Soule, and a pair for Zdarsky! See Guide to Daredevil for all of those omnis!
So, what’s left? One omnibus of odds and ends, and two for Daredevil’s occasional team appearances.
Daredevil Companion Vol. 1 (2000 & on) [AKA Bendis & Brubaker Companion AKA Daredevil: Unusual Suspects]
The creator-focused mapping of Daredevil’s modern omnibuses means his many mini-series and one-shots have been almost completely ignored by existing volumes, which leaves aside how the two Echo-focused David Mack arcs of Daredevil (1998) have never appeared in a proper omnibus.
There’s actually too much of this material to fit into a single book – 77 issues! However, that doesn’t mean this omnibus would necessarily stretch to two volumes. There are six Elektra solo issues that might make more sense in her line. The 11 Echo issues might make more sense in an Echo-focused omnibus, and if we took that route we could also cover another four-issue mini-series there. Bullseye and Kingpig have 17 issues between them which don’t feature Daredevil throughout. And, 11 issues are explicitly set in non-canonical futures.
If we remove any two of those four options, this book becomes less than 60 issues – very possible!
Alternately, this could break into a specific pre-Marvel-Now companion book to Bendis & Brubaker, with a separate volume for post-2012 material.
However, trying to force these comics into smaller volumes that make more sense breaks one of cardinal rules of preparing this poll – that it’s a titles poll, not a mapping poll! There’s not an obvious grouping or breaking point for this book, so for our purposes it’s just all one big book.
A vote for this book is a vote to get some kind of companion omnibus that either has a core of the David Mack Echo material or the Bendis/Brubaker side material.
This book would collect up to 60 issues of Daredevil (1998) #20-25 & 51-55, Daredevil/Spider-Man (2000) #1-4, Spider-Man/Daredevil (2002) #1, Daredevil: Ninja (2000) #1-3, Bullseye: Greatest Hits (2004) #1-5 Daredevil: Redemption (2005) #1-6, Daredevil vs. Punisher (2005) #1-6, Daredevil & Captain America: Dead On Arrival (2008) #1, Daredevil: Black & White (2010) #1, Daredevil: Cage Match (2010) #1, Bullseye: Perfect Game (2010) #1-2 Daredevil: Dark Nights (2013) #1-8, Kingpin (2017) #1-5, Bullseye (2017) #1-5, Elektra (2017) #1-5, Man Without Fear (2019) #1-5, Elektra (2022) #100, Daredevil & Echo (2023) #1-4, Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell (2025) #1-3.
Marvel Knights: The Defenders of NYC (2000 – 2003 & 2018) [both Marvel Knights ongoings and Double Shots minis + 20th anniversary]
In the early 00s, Daredevil (1998) was the original anchor title of Marvel Knights – an imprint of Marvel comics headed by future Editor-in-Chief. Marvel Knights told in-continuity stories with a slightly indie, slightly mature flair that were focused on standing alone while still existing within canon.
As part of that imprint, in 2000 it launched a flagship title called “Marvel Knights” that was effectively a “NYC street-level heroes team-up” with a core cast of Daredevil, Black Widow, Punisher, & Dagger – but appearances by many more characters. That extended to brief second series in 2002 and spawned a pair of “Double Shot” team-up anthology mini-series that paired Marvel Knights characters with other heroes.
We’ve had a paperback complete collection of the initial 15-issue series billed as “Defenders of the Street,” but no collection of the other 14 issues. That’s a worth omnibus on its own, but it also makes sense to add Marvel Knights 20th (2018), which is a specific tribute to these titles. And, we could optionally also add Elektra: Glimpse & Echo (2002).
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of the Marvel Knights team titles into a single book, some of which would be collected for the first time!
This book would collect Marvel Knights (2000) #1-15, Marvel Knights (2002) #1-6, Marvel Double Shot (2002) #1-4, & Marvel Knights Double Shot (2003) #1-4. It would also contain Marvel Knights 20th (2018) #1-6 as bonus material.
It could make sense to add Elektra: Glimpse & Echo (2002) #1-4, even though that would also be in an Elektra book or an Echo book.
Jessica Jones & the Defenders of NYC by Bendis (2004 – 2018) [includes Pulse & Defenders (2017)]
This is primarily a Jessica Jones omnibus, but it includes a run where Daredevil is a member of a “Defenders” street-level team mirroring the cast of the Netflix MCU show.
This book focuses on every time Brian Bendis wrote Jessica Jones after the conclusion of Alias (2001). He did that in three series: The Pulse (2004), a Jessica Jones (2016) ongoing, and a short-lived Defenders (2017) title.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Bendis’s post-Alias Jessica Jones into a single omnibus!
This would collect three distinct series by Bendis, plus some connective material.
First, The Pulse (2004), starring Jessica Jones from The Pulse (2004) #1-14 and New Avengers (2005) Annual 1.
Then, connective material featuring Jones written by Bendis from New Avengers (2005) #22, 38, 47-49, 58-60, & Annual 3, plus Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular (2009) #2 (2nd story).
Finally, the pair of Jessica Jones (2016) #1-18 and Defenders (2017) #1-10, which were Bendis’s parting shot on the character.
Daredevil Omnibus Mapping: Elektra
Elektra has just one omnibus, Elektra by Frank Miller & Bill Sienkiewicz, which primarily collects Elektra: Assassin (1986) – see Guide to Elektra. That leaves us with over 40 years of comics to collect… and we can likely do cover them in just three omnibuses!
Elektra: The Early Years (1981 – 1998) [AKA by Milligan, Hama & Deodato]
This book would primarily collect Elektra (1996) by Milligan, Hama & Deodato. We’ve already had that material collected in a 480 page Complete Collection paperback, which would be slightly slim as an omnibus on its own.
Luckily, there is other material that would make sense to collect alongside it. First, this could include key issues from Frank Miller’s Daredevil run, including Elektra’s debut and her seeming death.
Then, it could include a few issues of her return in Daredevil (1964) and the Elektra: Root of Evil (1995) mini-series.
Next, it can include a brief run of Wolverine and X-Men issues that were her first exposure to the wider Marvel Universe after 15 years where she was exclusively a Daredevil character.
And, finally, it can collect Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #424 and the never-collected Peter Parker: Spider-Man / Elektra Annual ’98 – which was surprisingly skipped by the Complete Collection!
Optionally, it could also pull in Elektra: The Hand (2004) – only separated from this material by six years, but placed in the period between her death and return to explain her whereabouts.
A vote for this book is a vote to get all of Elektra’s first 20 years of comic book stories all in one place, with the exception of the already-collected Elektra: Assassin (1986).
This would collect a handful of Miller issues (including Daredevil (1964) #168 & 181), issues from her return (including material from Daredevil (1964) #314-315) Elektra: Root of Evil (1995) #1-4, Wolverine (1998) #100-106, 102.5, Uncanny X-Men (1963) #332, Elektra (1996) #1-19 & -1, and Peter Parker: Spider-Man / Elektra Annual ’98.
It might optionally include Elektra: The Hand (2004) #1-5 to explain her resurrection.
Elektra: Marvel Knights by Bendis, Rucka, Rodi, & Morse (2001 – 2004) [includes Rucka’s Redeemer]
After her initial 1996 ongoing concluded in 1998, Elektra appeared in just three issues of Daredevil (1998) before returning in her own lengthy Marvel Knights ongoing series penned by Brian Bendis, Greg Rucka, & Robert Rodi.
Whereas the prior series was more about establishing Elektra as part of the Marvel Universe, this series was about giving her solo adventures on her own. It very much felt like a book establishing what she would do while off panel from appearing in Daredevil.
During the run of her series, Elektra also scored a pair of mini-series – one teaming her with the newly-created Echo, and another a illustrated prose story with Wolverine by Greg Rucka & famed Japanese illustrator Yoshitaka Amano. The latter wasn’t branded as Marvel Knights, but it’s complex approach to standalone storytelling certainly fit with the Knights line!
A vote for this volume is a vote to comprehensively collect Elektra’s three early-00s series, including collecting her complete Marvel Knights ongoing into a single book for the first time!
This would collect Elektra (2001) #1-35, Elektra: Glimpse & Echo (2002) #1-4, Elektra & Wolverine: The Redeemer (2002) #1-3, plus material from Marvel Knights Double Shot (2002) #3 (by Rucka & Greg Horn).
Elektra: The Modern Years (2004 & on)
After her stint as a Marvel Knights character, Elektra has had several solo stints in addition to appearances in Daredevil and her membership in the Marvel Now era Thunderbolts.
While her only ongoing title in this period is a terrific, often-overlooked 2014 series by W. Haden Blackman and Mike Del Mundo, she also has eight of her own mini-series, a pair of one-shots, and several featured arcs in other titles that primarily focus on her. That’s 40 issues of content even before we reach her rebranding as a second “Daredevil” during Chip Zdarsky’s run and subsequent string of mini-series by Erica Schultz.
That means even if we treat her “Daredevil” period as a unique, still-ongoing run that it’s too soon to collect, we still have a hefty omnibus of nearly 20 years of appearances before that – most of which are pretty great reads.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Elektra’s post-2004 material in one place, which certainly includes all of her own series, but could possible also include her significant guest appearances.
This would collect Elektra: The Hand (2004) #1-5, Shadowland: Elektra (2010) #1, Dark Reign: Elektra (2009) #1-5, Elektra (2014) #1-11, Daredevil (2016) #6-7, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2016) #9, Uncanny Avengers [II] (2015) #15-17, Spider-Man 2099 (2015) #17-19, Elektra (2017) #1-5, material from Dark Reign Files (2009) #1, and possibly Elektra: Black, White & Blood (2021) #1-4.
It could continue to the “Elektra as Daredevil” material from Daredevil: Woman Without Fear (2022) #1-3 [effectively a Devil’s Reign tie-in series], Elektra (2022) #100, and Erica Schultz’s ongoing run of Elektra-as-Daredevil mini-series (Daredevil: Gang War (2023) #1-4, Daredevil: Woman Without Fear (2024) #1-4, Daredevil: Unleash Hell [Red Band] (2025) #1-5).
Hi Krisis, small correction for the Elektra: Marvel Knights Omnibus: despite the series name, Elektra: Glimpse and Echo actually does NOT feature Echo at all.
Hi Peter,
In between Volume 1 (1964) and Volume 2 (1998), there is a crucial Nighthawk (1998) 3-issue mini-series written by Jim Krueger which has Daredevil in a major co-starring role. This was in continuity and although it was mainly focused on Nighthawk, it picked up on a theme dropped by Ann Nocenti during Daredevil’s stint in hell and his confrontation with Mephisto. I was very disappointed they didn’t include this in the last classic Daredevil Epic; Vol. 21 Widow’s Kiss. Marvel could make amends by including it in a possible Daredevil by DeMatteis, Kesel, Kelly, & Lobdell (1995 – 1998) OR put it in the back of the Daredevil Nocenti Vol. 2 Omnibus. It would probably be better appearing in the former IMHO.
I have some more thoughts on your Daredevil reading order and will let you know once I get a free moment. Btw, thanks for all you do :)
