It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Marvel Omnibus fans – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Marvel Team omnibus that does NOT exist (other than of Avengers, Defenders, Guardians of the Galaxy, & X-Men) – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.
For the next two weeks, I’ll be covering Marvel’s entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your Marvel oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot on Near Mint Condition on April 28, 2025.
What teams are we talking about? I’m so glad you asked! This post covers Agents of Atlas, Alpha Flight, Champions, Clandestine, Damage Control, Eternals, Heroes for Hire, The Inhumans, The Invaders, The Lost Generation, New Warriors, Nextwave, Power Pack, Runaways, Squadron Supreme, and Thunderbolts.
Some of those teams only have a single omnibus worth of material. Others have already had several omnibuses published and just need one or two to reach complete coverage.
If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for a list of books vetted by a gang of the biggest mapping nerds on the internet with explanations from yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.
Or, if you don’t care about omnibuses, just use this post to learn about Marvel’s history and find some great comics to read!
The book titles and mapping in this post were curated with the help of Captain Okona, who ruthlessly reviewed these books to find ways to either expand them or make them more efficient… sometimes both! Marvel Teams: Agents of Atlas Omnibus Mapping
Agents of Atlas has referred to two different teams, linked by a common sponsor in Jimmy Woo.
First, starting in 2006 there was a team of re-assembled Atlas Era Marvel heroes, long-since forgotten in the Marvel Universe. Then, starting in 2019, Marvel (and Jimmy Woo) assembled a group of young Pan-Asian heroes who were briefly collectively known as Agents of Atlas.
Neither version of the team has ever been collected in omnibus.
Agents of Atlas (2006 – 2010)
A vote for this book is a vote to comprehensively collect all of the Agents of Atlas material, mirroring the mapping of a pair of Complete Collections. That would include their pair of titled series, plus various “versus” mini-series, solo series of their members, and a handful of guest appearances. Plus, there would likely be room to include the debuts of each character from the Altas Era!
This would collect Agents of Atlas (2006) #1-6; X-Men: First Class (2006) #8; Wolverine: Agent of Atlas (2008) #1-3; Agents of Atlas (2009) #1-11; X-Men vs Agents of Atlas (2009) #1-2; Avengers vs. Atlas (2010) #1-4; Thunderbolts (1997) #139-140; Atlas (2010) #1-5; Hercules: Fall of An Avenger (2010) #1-2; Marvel Boy: The Uranian (2010) #1-3; Gorilla Man (2010) #1-3; and material from Spider-Man Family (2008) #4, Secret Invasion: Who Do You Trust? (2008) #1, Dark Reign: New Nation (2008) #1, Assault on Olympus Prologue (2009) #1, Enter The Heroic Age (2010) #1, and Incredible Hercules (2008) #138-141.
It could also add the debut of each team member as material from Marvel Mystery Comics (1939) #82, Venus (1948) #1, Marvel Boy (1950) #1, Men’s Adventures (195) #26, Menace (1953) #11, and Yellow Claw (1955) #1.
Agents of Atlas: New Agents of Atlas / White Fox & The Tiger Division (2019 & on)
A vote for this book is a vote to collect the Pan-Asian characters who initially emerged from Marvel Manga comics and the “Future Fight” video game, and who eventually formed the new Agents of Atlas and The Tiger Division. This would collect all of their various solo series and team books, as well as significant guest appearances (especially for Aero & White Fox).
This would collect Sword Master (2019) #1-12, Aero (2019) #1-12, Future Fight Firsts: Crescent and Io (2019) #1, Future Fight Firsts: Luna Snow (2019) #1, Future Fight Firsts: White Fox (2019) #1, Marvel Comics Presents (2019) #8 (3rd story – White Fox), War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas (2019) #1-4, Agents of Atlas (2019) #1-5, Atlantis Attacks (2020) #1-5, Death of Doctor Strange: White Fox (2021) #1, Black Cat (2020) Annual 1/2021 (1st story – White Fox), White Fox Infinity Comic (2022) #1-4, Tiger Division (2022) #1-5, Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic (2022) #11 (Tiger Division) & #34-36 (Crescent and Io), Spider-Gwen (2023) Annual 1/2023 (White Fox).
Marvel Teams: Alpha Flight Omnibus Mapping
One of the biggest and most-welcome omnibus announcements of 2025 was that we are FINALLY getting a second volume of Alpha Flight the first week of 2026 – nine years after the first volume! Alpha Flight by Mantlo & Lee will collect through Alpha Flight (1983) #70, which is actually a few issues farther than I thought they would push. See Guide to Alpha Flight for more information.
Both of those omnibuses weigh in right around 40 issues, and there are more than 60 issues of Alpha Flight material yet to collect. That creates some tricky mapping.
Alpha Flight, Vol. 3 (1989 & on) [AKA by Hudnall & Nicieza, follows Mantlo/Lee]
The mapping of that volume is tricky. If it exactly splits the remaining Alpha flight material in half, it will be a brief 3o-issue book… and it’s not in our best interest to force there to be more Alpha Flight omnibuses! But, if it tries to push through the end of the series it would be a ~66-issue book – not something Marvel loves to do without good reason but probably still under the absolute limit of ~1600 pages.
As a result, I think one of three things will happen. First, this could just be a 30-issue book, lessening our chances of ever completing the Alpha Flight omnibus line. Second, this could just be a ~66 issue book to wrap in the lesser-loved back half of the series all in one go.
Third, and seemingly increasingly possible, is that actually Marvel would consider Alpha Flight (1997) #1-20, -1, & Alpha Flight / Inhumans ’98 Annual to be part of collecting this pre-2000 material and separate it from the post-2000 material, which is also an unfeasibly large book. That would mean we have ~88 issues to split across two volumes… keeping them almost exactly the length of the existing pair of omnis! Plus, that puts off the problem of worrying about how to collect the disparate post-2000 Alpha Flight material.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect the next sequential volume of Alpha Flight, which will push into the 1990s. It could possible collect all of the remainder of the series, or it could simply push halfway there.
This would collect a minimum of Alpha Flight (1983) #71-101; Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #51-53; and a Puck team-up from Wolverine (1988) #35-37. It could collect farther if a Volume 4 would include all of Alpha Flight (1977)
Alternately, it’s possible it could completely collect the remainder of the 193 series by including Alpha Flight (1983) #102-130 and Northstar (1994) #1-4 (and maybe Death Metal (1994) #1-2).
Alpha Flight: The Modern Years (1997 & on) [includes Seagle, Lobdell, & Pak]
After a substantial 1997 series, Alpha Flight had a decade of sparse appearances that don’t form a singular narrative.
On one hand, that gives us an incentive to anchor this book with the 1997 series! On the other hand, maybe it’s a sign that the 1997 series should be collected along with the 1983 run to push off the problem of what to do with this motley collection of material.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of post-2000 Alpha Flight, which may or may not include all of the team’s 1997 series.
This would collect Alpha Flight (2004) #1-12; New Avengers (2005) #16-20; Omega Flight (2007) #1-5; Marvel Comics Presents (2007) #1-12 (Weapon Omega stories); Chaos War: Alpha Flight (2010) #1; Alpha Flight (2011) #.1, #1-8, and significant guest star appearances from this period. It probably would not stretch as far as Alpha Flight (2023) unless it collected some All-New All-Different Marvel material of Alpha Flight as Earth’s space force.
It may or may not begin with Alpha Flight (1997) #1-20, -1, & Alpha Flight / Inhumans ’98 Annual.
Marvel Teams: Champions Omnibus Mapping
The Champions are two distinct teams One is a mid-70s collection of non-Avengers solo heroes. The other is a late-00s team-up of the next generation of Marvel’s legacy heroes. And, neither of them have an omnibus! See Guide to Champions for more information.
Champions: The Early Years (1975 – 1978)
A vote for this book would be a vote to collect the complete run of the 1970s Champions, adding a few extra issues to their already-hefty single Masterworks volume.
This would collect Champions (1975) #1-17; Iron Man (1968) Annual (1970) #4; Avengers (1963) #163; Super-Villain Team-Up (1975) #14; Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #17-18; Hulk (1968) Annual 7; X-Force / Champions Annual 1998; Gambit and the Champions: From The Marvel Vault (2011) #1; and material from Giant-Size Hulk (2006) #1.
Champions by Waid, Zub, & Ewing (2016 – 2021)
A vote for this book is to collect the complete saga of Marvel’s young Champions, a team of youthful heroes typically anchored by Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales, & Sam Alexander as Nova.
This would collect Champions (2016) #1-27, Annual 1, & 1.MU; Infinity Countdown: The Champions (2018) #1-2; Champions (2019) #1-10; Outlawed (2020) #1; Champions (2020) #1-10.
While the concept of this team continues to New Champions (2024), it’s a new incarnation removed by almost half a decade from the prior run – which feels complete.
Marvel Teams: Eternals Omnibus Mapping
The Eternals have one mega-omnibus in The Eternals: The Complete Saga, which completely subsumed a prior early Marvel Omnibus, Eternals by Jack Kirby. The Eternals don’t have much material after that until they were relaunched in 2006 by Neil Gaiman, and then they went dormant again until they were killed by Jason Aaron in 2018 and then revived by Kieron Gillen in 2021. See Guide to Eternals for more details.
Eternals by Gaiman, Knauf, & Gillen (2006 – 2022)
We previously had the two halves of this book split into two different omnibuses – one for Gaiman & Knauf in the mid-00s, one for Gillen in the early 20s (as launched by Aaron in Avengers (2018).
However, now that’s is clear that there was a clean break in the Eternals story after the Judgment Day event, we can combine these books into a single tome – which will be a pleasing read, since Gillen reflects so many character moments from the mid-00s run.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of modern, post-2000 Eternals in one omnibus!
This would collect Eternals (2006) #1-7; Eternals (2008) #1-9 & Annual 1; Thor: The Deviants Saga (2012) #1-5; Avengers (2018) #1-6; Eternals (2021) #1-12 and three supporting one-shots (Eternals: Thanos Rises; Eternals: Celestia; Eternals: The Heretic); and the continuity-free Eternals Forever (2021) #1.
That’s 39 issues. That means this could also include the 15 issues that form the core of AXE from A.X.E.: Judgment Day (2022) #1-6 & Omega; A.X.E.: Avengers (2022) #1; A.X.E.: X-Men (2022) #1; A.X.E.: Eternals (2022) #1; A.X.E.: Eve of Judgment (2022) #1; A.X.E.: A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants (2022) #1-3; A.X.E.: Starfox (2022) #1.
Marvel Teams: Heroes for Hire Omnibus Mapping
Luke Cage and Iron Fist were the original Heroes for Hire in the Bronze, but they weren’t a team or an agency – just a pair of freelance heroes. Later, the “Heroes for Hire” name was turned into a Marvel team. First, it was a collection of heroes led by Cage & Iron Fist in the late-90s. Later, it was a mid-00s loose collective of heroes managed by Misty Knight. See Guide to Heroes for Hire for more information.
These are two distinct teams that would generate a pair of slim omnibus volumes without much sales heat. Based on last year’s poll results, we’ve combined them into a single chunky book to try to give it the juice to make it to the Top 60.
Heroes for Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, & Misty Knight (1997 – 2012) [AKA by Ostrander, Abnett/Lanning & Wells]
Is this book too big to exist? Eh… we’re right on the verge, and there are a handful of issues that could be easily trimmed to keep this under 1600 pages if necessary.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of the Heroes for Hire teams under a single cover, throwing in some additional Daughters of the Dragon material for good measure.
First, the Luke Cage and Iron Fist material would collect 24 issues: Heroes for Hire (1996) #1-19; material from Spider-Man (1993) Unlimited #13; Marvel Fanfare (1996) #6; Quicksilver (1997) #11-12 (Siege of Wundagore crossover issues); and Heroes For Hire/Quicksilver Annual 1998.
Then, Misty Knight’s material would collect 46 issues: Daughters of the Dragon: Deadly Hands Special (2005) #1, Daughters of the Dragon (2006) #1-6, Heroes for Hire (2006) #1-15; Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow (2010) #1-3; Power Man and Iron Fist (2010) #1-5; Heroes for Hire (2011) #1-12; Spider-Island: Heroes For Hire (2011) #1; Villains For Hire (2011) #.1 & 1-4.
Marvel Teams: The Inhumans Omnibus Mapping
I painstakingly mapped all of these volumes for last year’s poll because I know many people really want to see The Inhumans in omnibus! In fact, here – deep in the bowels of a CK post – I can exclusively reveal one of them ALMOST made it into the Top 60.
It’s wild to think that there isn’t a single Inhumans omnibus across their 60 years of comics history. You’d think that Black Bolt finding his way into the MCU in The Marvels would have given Marvel an excuse to release one! Our only recourse might be pushing one of these books into the highest ranks of our Tigereyes poll results.
For details on how to collect every Inhumans comic, ever, see my Guide to Inhumans.
Inhumans: The Early Years (1964 – 1997) [MMW1-2, backups, OGNs, etc]
This book would collect every major Inhumans appearance from their debut in 1964 to just prior to their Inhuman (1998) Marvel Knights book.
That would yield a very big book.
This is effectively a collection of four existing books, followed by three one-shots number of guest appearances
Those four books are The Inhumans: The Origin of the Inhumans (collecting their earliest F4 appearances and backups from Thor), Inhumans Masterworks Volume 1 (mostly collecting Amazing Adventures (1970)), surrounding material included in a paperback called Inhumans: Beware the Inhumans, and Inhumans Masterworks Vol. 2 (mostly collecting Inhumans (1975) and What If? back-ups)
That’s 1336 pages of content.
To that it would need add 210 pages of their three big 80s and 90s one-shots: Marvel Graphic Novel (1982) #39 – The Inhumans (1988) OGN, Inhumans: Untold Saga (1990) OGN, and The Inhumans: The Great Refuge (1995) #1.
That puts us at 1546 – a feasible omnibus, even though it’s significantly bigger than the similar decades-long The Eternals: The Complete Saga. There are another 8 whole issues I’d like to add to that, which is likely another 168 pages of content… and now we’ve crossed the line into a TOO BIG OMNIBUS. And that’s even before sneaking in a further four anthology stories… probably another 40 pages.
That’s officially 100 pages too long to be an omnibus. And, Marvel doesn’t even like going that big on classic material. But, after seeing how these books fared last year, I think there’s value in putting this on the poll as one single book – because splitting up the contents of the two Masterworks across two volumes is forcing people to split their votes.
Ultimately, if we had to stick with the 1545 page book and couldn’t add the Marvel Team-Up (1972) and Marvel Two-in-One (1974) issues that would push it over the line, it wouldn’t be the end of the world – the important thing would be getting in those three big one-shots. And, we might elect to totally skip all of that double-dipping from Fantastic Four – which would trim out enough material to make this easily work as a single volume.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect every Inhumans story from their debut through the 90s in one place. Let’s leave it up to Marvel if it needs to be split up into two books or not. If they need help with the map, they know where to find me.
This would begin by collecting debut material from before they had their own anthology stories. Fantastic Four (1961) #36, 38, 41-47, 54, 62-65, 81-83, 99, & Annual 5 (and material from #48, 50, 51, 55-61, 95, & 105); Thor (1966) #146-152 (B-Stories); Marvel Super-Heroes (1967) #15; Incredible Hulk (1968) Annual 1.
Then, it would add their starring material from Amazing Adventures (1970) #1-10; Avengers (1963) #95, material from Not Brand Echh (1967) #6 & 12; Inhumans (1975) #1-12; What If? (1977) #29-30 (back-ups); and Captain Marvel (1968) #52-53.
Finally, it would extend beyond their Masterworks to add some or all of Marvel Team-Up (1972) #11; Fantastic Four (1961) #150; Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #4, 8, 71-72, & Annual 4; Marvel Fanfare (1982) #14; Bizarre Adventures [Magazine] (1981) #28 (4th story); Marvel Graphic Novel (1982) #39 – The Inhumans (1988) OGN; Inhumans: Untold Saga (1990) OGN; Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #28 (4th story), 68 (4th story), & 168; The Inhumans: The Great Refuge (1995) #1; and supporting material from throughout Fantastic Four (1961) and other titles (including some of the Atlantis Rising story in Fantastic Four (1961) #401-402).
Inhumans: Marvel Knights (1998 – 2004) [AKA by Jenkins/Lee, Pacheco/Marin/Ladron, & McKeever]
The Inhumans (1998) Marvel Knights maxi-series from Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee was a thought-provoking hit that briefly made the Inhumans stars in a way they hadn’t been since the beginning of the Bronze Age. It spawned another 2000 mini, and then the group returned again for another maxi-series off the back of a featured arc in Fantastic Four (1998)
A vote for this book is a vote to collect a pair of 12-issue Inhumans maxi-series, as well as a four-issue series that linked them.
This would collect Inhumans (1998) #1-12; Inhumans (2000) #1-4; Fantastic Four (1998) #51-54; Inhumans (2003) #1-12.
Inhumans, All-New Vol. 1: Inhumanity & All-New by Charles Soule (2014 – 2017) [Inhumanity to pre-IvX]
Inhumans, All-New Vol 2: RessurXion by Ewing, Ahmed, et al (2017 – 2019) [post-IvX, including Black Bolt]
Like a fever dream we can barely recall, the Inhumans had a half-decade of relevancy in the mid-10s where they spawned an entire line of comics. Marvel was trying to make Inhumans happen as their legally-distinct sprawling, genetically-powered brand of heroes while the X-Men media rights were still owned by FOX.
Despite a massive publishing push, it never felt like the Inhumans were all that popular with fans. Still, they spawned well over 100 issues of series on either side of the IvX (2017) [AKA Inhuman vs. X-Men] event which would yield a pair of massive omnibuses.
A vote for these books is a vote to completely collect all of the Inhumans material from 2014 to 2019, possibly only omitting direct tie-ins to IvX to save them for an IvX event omnibus.
Volume 1 would collect Inhumanity (2014) #1-2 and Inhumanity: The Awakening (2014) #1-2 (ther Inhumanity tie-ins were not as relevant to the central plot of the Inhumans). Then, this would move on to collect Inhuman (2014) #1-14 & Annual 1; “Inhuman Error” (from Amazing Spider-Man Special (2015) #1, Amazing Spider-Man Special, Inhuman Special (2015) #1, All-New Captain America Special (2015) #1); Uncanny Inhumans (2015) #0-20; All-New Inhumans (2016) #1-9; Karnak (2015) #1-6; and Mosiac (2016) #1-5.
Volume 2 would collect Inhumans: Once and Future Kings (2017) #1-5; Inhumans Prime (2017) #1; Royals (2017) #1-12; Inhumans: Judgment Day (2018) #1; Black Bolt (2017) #1-12; Lockjaw (2018) #1-4; Death of the Inhumans (2018) #1-5. It could reasonably begin with all of IvX (2016) #0-6 or add Secret Warriors (2017) #1-12… or, possibly even both.
Marvel Teams: The Invaders Omnibus Mapping
Marvel’s Invaders are a retconned team of World War II heroes who never existed as a unified squad at the time. They were introduced in the mid-70s as Marvel’s answer to DC’s Justice Society – familiar heroes could could riff on WW2 nostalgia. All of that is collected in a single Invaders omnibus. When the team has returned since then, it’s usually to reunite in the modern day – and we’ve had enough of that material in the past 20 years to fill another omnibus!
Invaders: The Modern Years (1998 & on) [AKA Vol. 2]
This would include some big blockbuster runs like Avengers/Invaders (2008), James Robinsons’ All-New Invaders (2013), and Chip Zdarsky’s critical hit (and my favorite comic of 2019) Invaders (2019). But, along the way it will pick up some smaller series that would otherwise be abandoned.
A vote for this book is a vote to unify all of the Invaders’ material from 1998 to present day in a single omnibus.
This would collect Marvel Universe (1998) #1-3; New Invaders (2004) #0-9; Avengers/Invaders (2008) #1-12; Invaders Now! (2010) #1-5; All-New Invaders (2013) #1-15 (and material from All-New Marvel Now Point One (2014); Namor: The Best Defense (2018) #1; Captain America & the Invaders: Bahamas Triangle (2019) #1; and Invaders (2019) #1-12.
Marvel Teams: New Warriors Omnibus Mapping
We’ve got three New Warriors omnibuses covering the complete (1990) series and a forthcoming New Warriors: Nova & Night Thrasher solo omnibus later this year. See Guide to New Warriors for details.
What more could we ask for!?
Baby, this is a poll organized by Omar of Near Mint Condition. There never too much New Warriors for Omar!!! Plus, having the Nova/Thrasher omnibus finally collect their big swaths of 90s material makes it abundantly clear how we can complete this line in just two more books.
New Warriors Origins: Speedball, Justice, Namorita, & Rage (1972 – 1994) [AKA Vol. 0]
The original inspiration for this book was the fact that the new Nova/Thrasher book means we’ve abandoned Speedball’s original Steve Ditko series in omnibus. An existing Speedball: The Masked Marvel trade is too short to collect on its own and the New Warriors omnibuses are totally comprehensive when it comes to team material.
After much consternation amongst the Mapping Minties, we finally cracked how to turn that into an omnibus! This would be a Volume 0 of New Warriors, detailing the origins of all the existing team members other than Nova (who has his own origins omnibus) and Night Thrasher (who was invented for the team, so has no origins).
It makes so much sense it almost feels like Marvel planned it that way!
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of the New Warriors debuts and early material into one omnibus, maybe also picking up a tiny amount of solo material from the team’s era that didn’t make it into their trio of omnibuses
For Speedball, this would collect Speedball (1988) #1-10 plus material from Amazing Spider-Man (1963) Annual 22, Marvel Age (1985) Annul 4, Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #14 & 56, and Marvel Super-Heroes (1990) #1-2 & 5-6. To that we would add New Warriors era stories from Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #85, 96, 122, 127, & 159-163 and Marvel Holiday Special (1991) 1992.
For Firestar, this would collect her debut in Uncanny X-Men (1963) #193, Firestar (1986) #1-4, and Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #82-87 (2nd stories).
For Justice, this would collect some or all of Giant-Size Defenders (1974) #5 & Defenders (1972) #26, Avengers (1963) #170 & 173, Marvel Two-In-One (1974) #69, Thing (1983) #26-32, and Marvel Super-Heroes (1990) #7 (4th story).
For Namorita, she appears in MANY Namor comics and we’d likely just excerpt her first appearance in Sub-Mariner (1972) #50-55, sub-plot pages from Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #2 & 4, a solo story in Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #12 (4th story), and origin material from Namor, the Sub-Mariner (1990) #20.
For Rage, we would collect material from Avengers (1963) #326-339.
To that, we would add Slapstick (1992) #1-4… because… why not.
New Warriors: The Modern Years (1999 & on) [AKA Vol. 4]
A vote for this book is a vote to begin comprehensively collecting New Warriors team titles from 1999 and on.
This would begin to collect New Warriors (1999) #0-10 & Nova (1999) #1-7 (which were tightly integrated); New Warriors (2005) #1-6; Civil War (2006) #1; New Warriors (2007) #1-20; Firestar (2010) #1; and New Warriors (2014) #1-12.
Marvel Teams: Runaways Omnibus Mapping
We have a massive initial Runaways omnibus in Runaways by Brian K. Vaughan & Adrian Alphona collecting over 40 straight issues of the team’s earliest material. And… that’s it. That omnibus actually cuts off right in the middle of their 2005 series when Vaughan leaves the book… how rude!
Luckily, it would only take another pair of omnibuses to completely collect all of this team’s material. See Guide to Runaways for more details.
Runaways Vol. 2 (2007 – 2012) [AKA by Whedon, Yost, Moore, & Immonen]
A vote for this is a vote to collect all of the Runaways pre-Marvel Now material, starting just two month after the Vaughan omnibus ends!
This would collect Runaways (2005) #25-30; Runaways/Young Avengers Civil War (2006) #1-4; The Loners (2007) #1-6; Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers (2008) #1-3; Mystic Arcana: Sister Grimm (2007) #1; Runaways (2008) #1-14; Daken: Dark Wolverine (2010) #17-19; and material from Runaways Saga (2007) #1, Breaking Into Comics The Marvel Way (2010), and What If? House of M (2008) #1 (“What if the Runaways became the Young Avengers?” Story).
Runaways by Rainbow Rowell (2017 – 2025) [AKA Vol. 3]
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Rainbow Rowell’s Runaways in a single volume!
This would collect Runaways (2017) #1-38 and Runaways (2025) #1-5
Marvel Teams: Squadron Supreme Omnibus Mapping
Like The Eternals, Squadron Supreme have one massive omnibus, Squadron Supreme Classic, that consumed a previous smaller one, Squadron Supreme by Mark Gruenwald. However, neither book significantly collected the team’s post-2000 material – the mega-omnibus had just five issues newer than 1998.
We can collect two very different Squadron Supreme teams in a pair of omnibuses.
Squadron Supreme – Supreme Power: The Complete Saga (2003 – 2011)
This is not a Marvel 616 book, but I’m including here since it’s one of only two significant Squadron Supreme runs left to cover in omnibus.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect the complete Marvel MAX Supreme Power saga, an alternate universe version of the Squadron Supreme (who are from an alternate universe to begin with!) and their eventual clash with Ultimate Marvel.
This would collect Supreme Power (2003) #1-18, Supreme Power: Hyperion (2005) #1-5, Supreme Power: Nighthawk (2005) #1-6, Ultimate Power (2006) #1-9, & Supreme Power (2011) #1-4.
Squadron Supreme (2015 – 2017) [includes Hyperion & Nighthawk series]
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of the post-Secret Wars (2015) Squadron Supreme material in a single omnibus (although it would also add a handful of Hyperion issue from before Secret Wars as well)
This would collect Squadron Supreme (2015) #1-15; Nighthawk (2016) #1-6; Hyperion (2016) #1-6; Thunderbolts (2016) #4; and Hyperion Marvel Now context from Avengers (2012) #4 & 34.1 (and material from Avengers (2012) #12-13 and Avengers World (2014) #6 & 19)
Marvel Teams: Thunderbolts Omnibus Mapping
We have a trio of existing Thunderbolts omnibuses collecting the team’s first decade, from their inception in 1997 while the Avengers were away in Heroes Reborn through 2007 in the wake of Civil War. Then, we have another omnibus picking up in 2010 in the wake of some of their core members making the leap to Brian Bendis’s Dark Avengers (2008) and a subsequent Marvel Now assassin-focused lineup lead by Red Hulk. See Guide to Thunderbolts for details.
What’s left to collect? Not much! Just a gap filling collection from 2007 to 2010. There might not be enough post-2010 Thunderbolts material to warrant a team omnibus, since the team is often defined by whoever is leading it.
Thunderbolts Vol. 4 (2007 – 2010) [AKA by Ellis, Gage, & Diggle AKA Dark Reign]
We were raked across the coals by voters last year for splitting these two slim runs apart when they’d make a perfectly good omnibus together.
That’s GREAT. The whole point of these posts, the stream introducing the poll, and the comments on the poll itself is to figure out what a statistically significant group of fans want to see from future Marvel omnibuses! We don’t get any bonus points, bribes, or royalties for making books unnecessarily small – it just forces voters to split their votes more between things that they want.
A vote for this book is a vote to perfectly fill the remaining gap in Thunderbolts with one volume that contains some blockbuster material from Warren Ellis & Mike Deodate, Christos Gage, and Andy Diggle.
This would collect Thunderbolts (1997) #110-43; Thunderbolts: Desperate Measures (2007) #1; Thunderbolts: Breaking Point (2007) #1; Thunderbolts: International Incident (2008) #1; Thunderbolts: Reason in Madness (2008) #1; Penance: Relentless (2007) #1-5; Moon Knight (2006) #21-25; Deadpool (2008) #8-9; and Secret Warriors (2009) #7-9.
Is there any more Thunderbolts to collect after that?
Thunderbolts (2016) #1-12 stars Winter Soldier and would be collected in his omnibus line.
King in Black: Thunderbolts (2021) #1-3 was a one-off “Villains for Hire” team with none of the classic lineup and is included in the King in Black omnibus. Devil’s Reign: Villains For Hire (2022) #1-3 makes it literal that the prior team was a Villains for Hire team and is in the Devil’s Reign omnibus.
Thunderbolts (2022) #1-5 is a Hawkeye vehicle and would be collected with his omnibus line.
And, Thunderbolts (2023) #1-4 and Thunderbolts: Doomstrike (2025) #1-5 by Jackson Lanzing & Collin Kelly have kicked off new developments for Winter Soldier, so we don’t yet know how they will best be collected.
Marvel Teams: Miscellaneous Teams Omnibus Mapping (alphabetical by team)
Not every Marvel team is an enduring, multi-decade franchise. Some teams burn brightly and fade away… or, at least, never amass more than 40 issues of material so they can safely be contained in a single omnibus.
Clandestine by Alan Davis (1994 – 2012)
ClanDestine were Alan Davis’s pet project, a sort of X-Men adjacent clan drawing inspiration from The Morlocks and The Warpies.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Davis’s Clandestine into a single omnibus.
This would collect ClanDestine Preview (1994) #1; Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #158; ClanDestine (1994) #1-8; X-Men/ClanDestine (1996) #1-2; ClanDestine (2008) #1-5; Thor: Truth of History (2008) #1; and the three ClanDestine annuals (Fantastic Four (1961) Annual 33, Daredevil (2011) Annual 1, & Wolverine (2013) Annual 1)
Damage Control by Dwayne McDuffie (1989 – 2022)
We have an existing Damage Control: The Complete Collection paperback from 2015 that collects everything Damage control up to that point, and it’s only 309 pages. Since then, we’ve only added one more mini-series – Damage Control (2022). However, those five issues tip the scales of this book over 400 pages, which makes it a more reasonable size for a short omnibus.
A vote for this book is a vote for a single omnibus collecting all of Damage Control.
Damage Control (1989A) #1-4; Damage Control (1989B) #1-4; Damage Control (1991) #1-4; WWH Aftersmash: Damage Control #1-3; Damage Control (2022) #1-5; and material from Marvel Age Annual 4, Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #19, and Iron Man (1968) Annual 11.
Marvel Universe & The Lost Generation by Roger Stern & John Byrne (1998 – 2000)
A vote for this book is a vote for a pair of retcon series by Roger Stern examining retcons of the Marvel Universe.
This would collect Marvel Universe (1998) #1-9 Marvel: The Lost Generation (2000) #1-12 (released in countdown style from #12 to #1). You could also make the argument that J. Michael Straczynski’s The Twelve (2007) #1-12 belongs here (along with The Twelve: Spearhead (2010) #1, not by JMS).
Nextwave by Ellis & Immonen (2006 – 2007)
Nextwave is just Nextwave. It’s 12 issues of perfect madness packed with jokes. Nothing comes before it or follows it. What can we say?
Could you pad this with Elsa Bloodstone’s debut or other contemporaneous (and silly) Monica Rambeau appearances meant to feel like Nextwave? Or maybe a later Al Ewing Mighty Avengers story revisiting the Beyond Corporation?
Sure, but I’m not sure you get anything from that. I think this is just a rare 12-issue omnibus and there’s nothing we can do about it.
A vote for this is a vote for a 12-issue Nextwave omnibus, because Nextwave.
This would collect Nextwave (2006) #1-12.
Power Pack by Gurihiru (2005 – 2010) [includes all 11 miniseries]
Technically, this book doesn’t really belong in the team section, because it’s an alternate universe book! However, some people don’t realize that this entire string of Power Pack mini-series doesn’t exist in our continuity.
To be fair, it’s pretty similar in design and tone, but the ages of the Power Pack kids clearly don’t match up with the status quo of the heroes they are hanging out with. It was later designated as an official alternate Earth. See Guide to Power Pack for more details.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of these charming and kid-friendly comics together for the first time!
This would collect Power Pack (2005) #1-4; X-Men and Power Pack (2005) #1-4; Avengers and Power Pack Assemble! (2006) #1-4; Spider-Man and Power Pack (2007) #1-4; Hulk and Power Pack (2007) #1-4; Fantastic Four and Power Pack (2007) #1-4; Iron Man and Power Pack (2008) #1-4; Power Pack: Day One (2008) #1-4; Skrulls vs. Power Pack (2008) #1-4; Wolverine and Power Pack (2009) #1-4; Thor and the Warriors Four (2010) #1-4.
It doesn’t fit the theme, but if Saga of the Original Human Torch (1990) #1-4 isn’t collected in a hypothetical Invaders Vol. 2, where else could it be collected?
We have it in a “Marvel Saga” book since that would theoretically include Namor as well (which is incidentally how I have it bound!) since an Invaders Vol. 2 would be primarily modern stories, but if you want it to be in Invaders it could certainly work there as well!
Another addition to the Invaders Omni would be The Torch (2009-2010) #1-8
Extra content for the Runaways books:
-Iron Man Legacy 6-11 (A fun story about the Illuminati going up against the Pride)
-Material from Marvel Holiday Special ’08 (The only other Loners story)
-Material from Uncanny X-Men: The Heroic Age (Molly & Beast story re: Decimation)
-Avengers Academy 27-28 (Runaways & Academy kids rescue Old Lace from Dinosaur Dimension)
-Ultron 1.au (AU Victor story)
-Material from Marvel Voices: Pride 2021 (Nico & Karolina date)
-Runaways: One World under Doom 1-5
Considering the Civil War tie in story occurs part way through the BKV omni (and how big v2 is getting), I’d be tempted to map a companion volume –
RUNAWAYS COMPANION
-Iron Man Legacy 6-11
-Mystic Arcana: Sister Grimm
-Young Avengers & Runaways: Civil War 1-4
-Loners 1-6
-Loners story from Holliday Special ’08
-Runaways/Young Avengers: Secret Invasion 1-3
-Molly’s pages from UXM: Heroic Age
-Ultron 1.AU
-What if the Runaways were Young Avengers 1-5
-Battleworld Runaways 1-4
-OHOTMU A-Z entries
Then vol 2 would be:
RUNAWAYS BY WHEDON, MOORE & IMMONEN
-Runaways Saga
-Runaways 2005 25-30
-Runaways 2008 1-10
-Breaking into Comics the Marvel Way 1
-Runaways 2008 11-14
-Daken: Dark Wolverine 17-19
-Avengers Academy 27-28
Which would take you straight to vol 3 by Rowell
RUNAWAYS BY ROWELL
-Runaways 2017 1-18
-m/f Voices: Pride
-Runaways 2017 19-38
-Runaways: One World Under Doom 1-5
