What I Tweeted, 2009-10-18 Edition

October 18, 2009 by krisis

My tweets of the last week:

  • I almost had a cover of the new Michael Jackson song "This Is It" posted an hour after it was released, but Adobe Premiere hates AVI files. #
  • @mandy_payne It's not one of his best but there are a couple turns of melody that are just perfect MJ (like "heard a single word about you") in reply to mandy_payne #
  • Why is it a freaking state secret how to edit AVI in Adobe Premiere? I eventually figured out the codec I need, but, seriously? #
  • Also, why must every codec site test positive for spyware? Isn't this stuff supposed to be easy to do on the internet? Sweet lord. #
  • Meanwhile, the only class I ever dropped in college was Film/Video, so why in god's name am I spending my free time on this insanity? #
  • @amanda_nan This weekend being a songwriter involved general contracting, web administration, and audio and video editing. Little singing. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @amanda_nan Invite yourself! in reply to amanda_nan #
  • Because breaking out into hives is exactly what this week needed to become more awesome. #
  • @brimil I swear I only say those sorts of things when I am with you and @amanda_nan in reply to brimil #
  • I'm at Dr Watson's Pub (216 S 11th St, Philadelphia). http://bit.ly/CQlGx #
  • Went soft on open mics this week – this is my first. I'm ultra-low energy; hoping Gina will be a pick-me-up. #
  • @PhillyBossLady I seem to be fine. Was having a minor reaction to something environmental and exacerbated it w/stress. in reply to PhillyBossLady #
  • When will I learn to share my awkard, people-watching stories *before* I Foursquare from somewhere? #
  • @MattWilsontv Seems like it could confuse your earlier adopters who commit under the first title. Good for marketing, bad for branding? in reply to MattWilsontv #
  • Strike 1: signup list out, but no host greeting or hellos until it filled up past midnight. #
  • @drew @amanda_nan RT @DannyBrown Are you in NJ? Wanna help kids with cancer? Details at Lainie's Angels http://bit.ly/3GmXq7 RT @kham2939 in reply to DannyBrown #
  • Sometimes I think I should have poetry slam prepared for these situations, but then I think, "peter, your songs have enough words already." #
  • @melitami there are so many different people I want to see it with to share that feeling, exactly. in reply to melitami #
  • That was bar none the worst open mic I have attended in my life, salvaged by the totally sweet brit dance/rock band that played a set. #
  • Missing my tweets? You should hang out with me in person at @filmstarband's BYOB show in South Philly. Invite: http://bit.ly/2oBwyg #
  • @PhillyBossLady Are you coming to @Not_Pele's show tonight?! in reply to PhillyBossLady #
  • RT @Yellaphant RT @RBLevin Each time you use hashtag #beatcancer today, it's $0.01 to cancer research (via @mashable http://bit.ly/1SfxlK ) #
  • Also, for every follower Drew Carey gets @drewfromtv by NYE he will donate $1 to @livestrong – already at 100,000 in just a few weeks! #
  • @PhillyBossLady Totally understand that feeling. Usually I love my office view, but today it's all doom and gloom. in reply to PhillyBossLady #
  • This is a lifetime first: I have spent more money in the past two months in support of charity than I have on new music and concert tickets. #
  • Having fun donating a cent w/ #beatcancer? Why not donate $1 instead? Follow @drewfromtv and he'll donate $1 for you on 12/31, up to $1mill! #
  • @Remysbaby Any chance you'll come out tonight for Elise's show? You can walk there w/me ;) in reply to Remysbaby #
  • @CharityIdeas Thanks for getting the word out there! We already got @drewfromtv to our original $100,00 goal two weeks early! in reply to CharityIdeas #
  • @Remysbaby 9th & Washington, Connie's Ric Rac in reply to Remysbaby #
  • That's a LOW $500 – @drewfromtv will donate 2000x that much on 12/31! @AlexsLemonade In 6 hours, #BeatCancer was repeated 44,446 times. #
  • Disappointed with #beatcancer. Yes, it's #1, we're all talking about cancer, but I don't understand the point of the campaign (or the low $) #
  • Like, if it trends 1mill times they'll donate $10k, and then the day is over. I guess knowing @drew & @drewfromtv makes me a little jaded #
  • Every cent to cancer research & advocacy is a cent that cancer's ass is kicked. I #blamedrewscancer for anyone who doesn't #beatcancer. #
  • @PhillyBossLady One of my all time favorite movies. Give it a chance, consider watching twice. Took me four years to get it, entirely. in reply to PhillyBossLady #
  • Just received a delightful call from @unicef as a result of my giving through @12for12k. Had a wonderful chat with them – great phone reps! #
  • Need to shift gears from "cozy turtleneck husband" to "cool rock band husband" for Elise's show. #
  • @Remysbaby On your way to Connie's or to my place? I'm prob not heading out until 9:40ish in reply to Remysbaby #
  • Suddenly tons of people converging on my position. Almost time for @filmstarband to rock, & I'm still rehearsing for drum run #3 on Sunday! #
  • Ric Rac is *packed* with @filmstarband fans. A vast majority are people who I love. A really nice relief from this week. #
  • Omg, I totally have headbanging hair right now. AND I'M LOVING IT. #
  • Bro and our family hair-goddess Lauren installed in the corner of House. http://twitpic.com/lvu55 #
  • I just totally stepped on the hair-goddess/brother mojo. I got a death look from them both. #
  • @JessDeLo yes, our whole stage-bound family aree devotees of House – me, rocker wife, lead-actor brother in reply to JessDeLo #
  • @big_onion it has… um… an uplifting message… ? in reply to big_onion #
  • I'm at Electric Factory (421 North 7th Street, Philadelphia). http://bit.ly/uE8Nl #
  • Paper Route? Slightly overqualified to be an opening band. A little bit mind-blowing. Just somewhat. #
  • @midomi there are kids arounf me @paramore using your app to figure out the names of songs between bands. Been seeing you everywhere lately! #
  • @davidakermanis def a new dynamic for me on these young 3 & 4 band bills. First act maybe a little soft, but the sub-headliners are awesome. in reply to davidakermanis #
  • Every dude here wearing a pristine phillies hate has been an utter douchebag. Like, we're 7 for 7 so far. Special edition hats=bigger douche #
  • Hey @northstarbar, you got a shout out from @paramore on #paratour #
  • Damn, Decode was vicious. Almost enough for me to watch Twilight. #paratour #
  • Paramore = totally awesome live. Seriously, we've seen them twice now, & I'm hard pressed to name another band in their generation as good. #
  • @mandy_payne OMG you have to come next time. Me and bro have, like, a lifetime subscription at this point. They were so amazing. in reply to mandy_payne #
  • @mandy_payne Also, Lady Gaga on Dec 3, and again on Jan 16? Holla? in reply to mandy_payne #
  • To-do: write a song I can wail as hard as I wail Decode. That might get added to my karaoke list… #
  • @supermucho I did't like it much until tonight, when its fierceness apparently wrent a hole in the roof of E-Factory, 'cuz we got rained on. in reply to supermucho #
  • @paperroute I'll definitely be following and waiting for your return! We had never heard of you before, but your musicianship blew us away. in reply to paperroute #
  • I have 1.5hrs to turn my living room into a digital recording studio for our 3rd drum rehearsal. A clip from last time: http://bit.ly/4n7bHA #
  • @andysmithsmith I turned to my brother & said, "That is called a theremin, & any band who plays it on their 1st song is not fucking around." in reply to andysmithsmith #
  • @sunnydaymusic Can't wait to get out to see some of your promoted shows! in reply to sunnydaymusic #
  • Drum rehearsal was a little more trying today – hard to add a whole new instrument! Luckily, Gina and I were in good voice for the workout. #
  • It's hard for me especially because I do not speak drums at all. With Gina I could notate everything we were doing & go back to discuss. #
  • That said, more major progress made, and expanded our rehearsal set by two more songs. #
  • Wow, if I hadn't completely forsaken the Eagles at the end of last season I bet I'd be really depressed about today's game. #
  • @jessicaharts I'm over pinning my hopes to McNabb; I've never liked him. I enjoy football much more this year by not being an Eagles fan in reply to jessicaharts #
  • Great chat w/bro yesterday about what bands want to sell you when they're on tour: their music? Their product? Their image? One to think on. #
  • An act who knows you have all their CDs already stands to profit the most by selling you their image – embedding their brand in your life. #
  • An act with a few hits wants to you to adopt more of their entire catalog. They are focused on rocking deep cuts hard and moving CDs. #
  • An unknown act wants to get their music into your head however they can. Streaming, downloads, free EPs – anything they can do to be sticky. #
  • A lot of bands get this wrong, to their great detriment. Local bands too into image and product. Indie bands who haven't moved past sticky. #
  • It's interesting to watch in action. At #paratour the bands were a perfect spectrum of the three – wonderfully proving my point to bro. #
  • @CTK1 Still waiting on MoC to contact me about my app – I have limited iterations of $10, but unlimited ability to play songs :) in reply to CTK1 #
  • @YoungBillyMays I've seen you chatting up your impending disc, but have yet to listen to you. in reply to YoungBillyMays #
  • @YoungBillyMays My duo blanketed our friends/fans with free Live @ Rehearsal CDs for two years until they knew all of our songs. in reply to YoungBillyMays #
  • @YoungBillyMays Here's one each from me ( http://bit.ly/1fVQwU ) and the duo ( http://bit.ly/TTKrn ) in reply to YoungBillyMays #
  • I love this. A lesson here. RT @ChareeKlimek A gardener's view on organic business growth: 1st year, sleep; 2nd year, creep; 3rd year, leap. #
