What I Tweeted, 2009-10-25 Edition

October 25, 2009 by krisis

My tweets of the last week:

  • Is there a point-spread to time-left ratio for when to sub in 2nd string players in an NFL blowout? 10pts:5mins? #
  • My browsers are in perpetual shock when I type SI expecting to visit Sports Illustrated. They're like "Are you really reading about sports?" #
  • Movies I rewatch constantly (almost monthly): Clue. Constantine. Elizabethtown. Harry Potter 3. Hitchhiker's Guide. Matrix. Prestige. Primer #
  • This haircut is a nightmare. I know it was our first shot at trimming my longer locks & that it'll be fine in a week. Still not worth this. #
  • @RobIsEvil @mikeyil It might be our favorite comic book movie, since Incredibles was never actually a comic book. Also, we <3 Rachel Weisz. in reply to RobIsEvil #
  • @wfenza It's funny, I was thinking about that even before I saw the score of the Patriots game. in reply to wfenza #
  • OMFG buying now. RT @joeross RT @engadget SNES / Sega Genesis USB cartridge adapter now available for pre-order http://bit.ly/1fTIFs #
  • @MissIve i will definitely take a look at this later while I am waiting for the open mic to start! in reply to MissIve #
  • I love my job because: I have a client who loves schedules but also answers status requests by saying "groovy" #
  • Malcolm Gladwell tackles football head injuries in my afternoon commute reading from the New Yorker: http://bit.ly/4mLRtd #
  • @BarackObama I support your h.c. platform, but that tweet is a misleading, libelous, oversimplification. Many insurers are supporting reform in reply to BarackObama #
  • @PhillyBossLady That gets you most of the way there, but see the post on CK for even more mind-bending re: timelines. So, did you like it? in reply to PhillyBossLady #
  • @PhillyBossLady I need to invite you over my quarterly re-watches, because E hates it. The commentary is helpful. CK: http://bit.ly/DqDo5 in reply to PhillyBossLady #
  • @BrettCoppol @njrugger45 I've gone back to meat from long-term veggie (not vegan), & I prepped with a week of easy stuff, like chicken broth in reply to BrettCoppol #
  • @realdaytrotter AWESOME. Can't wait to hear about your adventures. PS: When will you post that Duke Spirit session? in reply to realdaytrotter #
  • @FriedWontons4u I think you could direct that card at #titans fans as well, yes? in reply to FriedWontons4u #
  • @MissIve I take the "face" comment to be about focus. My online brand is too unfocused. A better face would define what should be seen 1st. in reply to MissIve #
  • @amanda_nan sitting in here eating dinner wondering where you are. The one to the right of the massive garden/tree. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • I'm at The Fire (412 West Girard Ave, Leithgow St betw 4th & 5th, Philadelphia). http://bit.ly/aQXZA #
  • The fire has a poster for a madonna tribute show on the door w/people I know on the bill. I feel like I am entering the mothership. #
  • @NJrugger45 went back for a few years in college for a cute girl and chicken sandwiches. Pescetarian now. in reply to NJrugger45 #
  • Seriously, I need to locate who I have to fuck to get on the bill of this Madonna tribute show. This cannot go on without my participation. #
  • Man, he made that home run look easy. #phillies #phever #
  • @Chris_Huff I did it with the house band two weeks ago at Time's open mic, it was AWESOME. Tonight is a duo appearance, though – no madge. in reply to Chris_Huff #
  • @MissIve I'll leave a comment as well when I'm at a proper computer long enough ;) in reply to MissIve #
  • Watching one of my local favorites open the open mic, Alec Stewart – http://bit.ly/1cNpoK – sweetly tipsy blues. #
  • Now one of our major AC open mic buddies (and a GOLDEN songwriter), Ryan Williams ( http://bit.ly/4qU44V ). He's in the Madonna tribute. #
  • God, his every song just crushes me – new one, "The Heart's Just a Shape." Great line – "there's nowhere to go, just cul de sacs." #
  • OMG, and now my #1 favorite Ryan Williams song, Audio. Catchiest song in the freaking city. #
  • Spontaneous 3-part harmony on "Dream Dream Dream" w/Ryan and Gina, originally Everly Bros, but hearing the Roy Orbison version. Must learn #
  • I want a piece of pizza so bad right now that I am seriously considering walking to South Street for some Lorenzo's. Or, stealing our car. #
  • MLB covers Dodgers win. Also: support Dewey. RT @mistermfc http://twitpic.com/m7k3y MLB.COM FAILS. #phillies #nlcs (via @DarkNemesis618) #
  • @sethgoldstein 12 minute walk, but I *just* got home from open mic. in reply to sethgoldstein #
  • @SarahPsyDeal Will go tomorrow after work. Tonight, will enjoy some time-honored PB&J. in reply to SarahPsyDeal #
  • @DarkNemesis618 http://twitpic.com/m7k3y – Ha, I just tweeted the Dewey reference as well. Major #mlbfail. #
  • @T_ricia I just don't get it. Yes, you have the lead written for the obviously plausible win, but in an online age why push it to live? in reply to T_ricia #
  • lol, you can tell my follow list leans hard toward local tweeps when all I can see for pages and pages are hastags starting with "ph" #
  • @adamlambert That's awesome! I hope you had so much fun meeting & singing with her. Everyone I know was hoping you'd be on her tour. in reply to adamlambert #
  • Sports aside, this is the big news of today for me RT @adamlambert: "Time For Miracles" from 2012 Soundtrack now on sale http://bit.ly/3lDhF #
  • Seriously, I am going to play that song about 100x tomorrow. I am making a playlist of just that & Decode (still in my head from concert) #
  • Is it bad that I'm already rehearsing karaoke selections for the return of @sarahpsydeal? #
  • RT @amanda_nan: The only good things to come out of California are wine and gay marriage … oh wait. They fucked that up too. #Phillies #
  • @amanda_nan Meanwhile, how is it fair that you got to see my wife last night yet I haven't seen you outside of a meeting for, um, months? in reply to amanda_nan #
  • RT @discmakers RT @cameronmizell If you're a musician creating a WordPress site, here's a list of plugins I use on my site http://ow.ly/veeb #
  • @Billy_Sea If it makes you feel any better, I probably like you more than I like wine. Or, baseball. :) in reply to Billy_Sea #
  • @amanda_nan @not_pele Do you want to do one marathon through the entire show + movie (like, 12ish hours), or break it into two installments? in reply to amanda_nan #
  • Today the big T is all Fail Whale, all the time, for me. #
  • @AtheistBus My wife & I were DELIGHTED to see the bus multiple times on our honeymoon to London in January. If only we could have you here. in reply to AtheistBus #
  • RT @ryanjamesdavis "Suppose we've chosen the wrong god. Every time we go to church we're just making him madder!"-Homer Simpson (re: No God) #
  • Interesting. Thoughts? RT @huffingtonpost Malcolm Gladwell: Aspiring Journalists Should Skip J-School http://retwt.me/1bDAM #
  • Finally watched some Glee. It's B-movie bad, but it has all of my favorite Heroes castoffs, plus piercing theatre-nerd jokes. Still, bad. #
  • Also, the auto-tune is out of control. Most of them are decent singers – why all the fakery? #
  • @jacmmkay Yeah, I don't really understand that casting – can't sing and looks 30. in reply to jacmmkay #
  • @therealdesh I'm basically just watching for the OCD teacher who was Charlie on Heroes and to hear crazy counter-tenor parts from Kurt. in reply to therealdesh #
  • @therealdesh Also, I'm apparently going to cry at the end of every episode. in reply to therealdesh #
  • Nearly crushed by a door falling on top of me. Good thing my buff wife was there to catch it, because I was inches from being flattened. #
  • Well, we just watched a lot of Glee, and it is really awful. It's effectively the Chris Colfer & Jayma Mays show, as they are the good parts #
  • @ericagee I love her elsewhere, but they are making her so one-note in this. She gets all the best lines, though. in reply to ericagee #
  • You? RT @mariatsciarrino Philly: Are you obsessed with karaoke (or know someone who is)? Get in touch. Writer is looking to interview people #
  • @wfenza Pass this to Dr. Thunder? RT @mariatsciarrino Obsessed with karaoke (or know someone who is)? Writer is looking to interview people. #
  • Concerts I need company for: Definitely 11/18 Amanda Palmer @ TLA; maybe 12/1 Imogen Heap @ TLA and/or 12/2 Raphael Saadiq @ ElecF #
  • @drew Are you for-real serious? Can't @drewfromtv intercede? Or maybe call @chiah @23andme and see if their media rep can help? in reply to drew #
  • Why I love my job: The feeling of getting a huge project I've worked on all year through medical review with ZERO edits. #
  • @ericagee I definitely agree, & the writing for her is supremely, hilariously viscous. The journal entry? The salting the earth comment? in reply to ericagee #
  • @wfenza I dunno, @ her back – she's at the temple mass media program, so it could be anyone. in reply to wfenza #
  • @chelsealynn818 Honestly, best 2 lead singles from any season. The recycled nature of Kris's bugs a little since he's such an awesome writer in reply to chelsealynn818 #
  • @vipvirtualsols amazing content management tool, but without a lot of contacts it's a lonely sandbox. Too niche to supplant twitter entirely in reply to vipvirtualsols #
  • @vipvirtualsols I don't think the audience is too niche, I think the tool is too niche. Love it, but higher barrier to entry than Twitter. in reply to vipvirtualsols #
  • @chelsealynn818 Def my two favs all season as well. I was utterly delighted by the outcome. in reply to chelsealynn818 #
  • Hit with a bolt of inspiration on an acapella arrangement on the way home from work. Going to sketch it & punt to bro for his HS group. #
  • BSG's Helfer and Park grace Maxim cover. Helfer looking too thin; Park not quite as hot as my wife. http://bit.ly/4nQu9g #
  • 3 hours = SATB acappella arrangement of Misery Business w/a refrain of Decode. I may be making some NJ HS students pretty freaking happy ;) #
  • Reasons I love my job: crazy-smart co-worker who refers to her PhD husband as "Captain Science." #
  • This shirt has now had more nice things said about it in one day than I've had said to me all week. Clearly I picked a winner. #
  • @inflammatorywrt It's not really for theater nerds, even if the humor is for theatre nerds, because the acting and singing are just awful. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @brimil OMG, since when do you go to Bonte without me? #SMBFFFAIL in reply to brimil #
  • I am in carb overload this week. I am tired, I want fake energy, and then the fake energy makes me more tired. Vicious, the cycle. #
  • @FusionPhilly Thanks for the advice! You're on my way home from work; I'll stop in to say hello sometime soon. in reply to FusionPhilly #
  • I want EVERY ONE of these Cthulhu product. @GoluboiPHL I especially love the Cthulhu Christmas items. http://bit.ly/1JCQ9t #
  • Guy just got on the bus with a box of pastels and a holy bible – there's a song in there somewhere. #
  • En route to Rox to hit the open mic @ Crossroads. Wanted to swing by Buckets too, but I'm sans keys & reliant on E to be awake to let me in. #
  • I'm at Crossroads Coffee House (6156 Ridge Avenue, Leverington Ave., Philadelphia). http://bit.ly/fV1dg #
  • 15 Reasons to root for the Phillies. A great, witty article. http://bit.ly/3zNRPg #
  • God, I am so in love with Vicky Spaeth's new songs. "Breath & Release," I could listen to it fall day. She is blossoming http://bit.ly/j3IOO #
  • Damnit, forgot I have my Flip Camera with me – could have had my own video of Breathe and Release to listen to. Crumbs. #
  • @phillydesign I forgot to credit you! OH noes! in reply to phillydesign #
  • The wonderful @phillydesign was responsible for floating that Phillies article my way, as I am not an ESPN reader (usually SI for me). #
  • I could seriously sustain myself just on my love for all of these wonderful artists in Philly. What a beautiful place to be a musician. #
  • Hmm. There is the question of what songs I plan to play. Haven't been giving that much thought. No point in covers in a room this friendly. #
  • My accompaniment (personal, not musical) for the evening arrived: Cris Valkyria. Happy to have an open-mic-tour buddy. http://bit.ly/3SOXSh #
  • Terry List is a not-so-secret musical genius, w/oddball upside down guitar playing, but every song is a twisted gem. I've really missed him. #
  • Presently hearing Wallace Pig, who plays earwormy acoustic pop and bears a striking resemblance to Matthew McConaughey. http://bit.ly/2j9NGC #
  • Mmm, Fog, one of my absolute favorite Radiohead songs. Now I have to learn it on guitar. #
  • @jshanley Surrounded by wonderful people I truly enjoy, but they are being recalcitrant about my taking video of their wonderfulness :) in reply to jshanley #
  • Regenerate sounded amazing (to me, anyway) in Crossroads! It's a song that needs wooden floors, it doesn't seem to know what to do elsewhere #
  • And now, REAL POETRY. Guys, I never hear real, serious poetry at open mics. This is so enjoyable. #
  • New Rs cover story is an interview with Madonna about SONGWRITING. I've wished for this forever. Awesome journalism. I'm dying. #
  • Actually, this is just a killer issue altogether. Fiercely mean Glee article from Sheffield. Fantastic profile on Lemmy Kilmister. #
  • Ozzy: (Lemmy had) no change of clothes. His rider was 7 bottles bourbon, 8 bottles vodka, 2 bottles OJ, & that's fucking it! – rs1089 #
  • Wow, that article makes me want to buy a Motorhead album. Oh, and Lemmy's favorite artist? Kelly Clarkson. #
  • Apparently I can sing "Use Somebody" only with wall-shaking, ear-drum-splitting, Kelly Clarkson levels of decibels. Not v. open mic friendly #
  • Bless both Kings of Leon & Kelly Ckarkson for singing like that every night. Even warmed up it took utmost care to do without hurting myself #
  • It's hard to be the most attractive person on an entire subway car, but I gladly accept that challenge. #
  • @mandy_payne @iFreddie @Johhnny5 @onedr One of those tweets that almost didn't make it past my filter. That's my internal monologue, though. #
  • @amanda_nan I am *so* going to be there, looking fierce. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @mandy_payne I did! If I get through I'm going to buy the max of tickets, but if work people get through they're only buying enough for us in reply to mandy_payne #
  • @mandy_payne So, I'm trying to be the one to buy them so I can go with everyone :) in reply to mandy_payne #
  • @mandy_payne You, @amanda_nan, @brimil, and one other fabulous person TBA. Seriously, if I get through I am buying max tickets. in reply to mandy_payne #
  • @mandy_payne @amanda_nan @brimil You now have Lady Gaga tickets in the pit for the 12/3 show, if you are interested in such things ;) #
  • @mandy_payne Dude, I do not mess around. When it's love if it's not rough it isn't fun. in reply to mandy_payne #
  • I am unreasonably excited about getting to see Lady Gaga from 10-20 feet from the stage. Like, crazy. #
  • Annnnd, presale is already sold out. 20 minutes. #
  • @FriedWontons4u It's on sale again tomorrow morning, this was just presale. Just be ready to load the second it comes online! in reply to FriedWontons4u #
  • @interjection They're all relatively the same price; not sure if they do lawn in the fall, though. in reply to interjection #
  • @interjection Base price were $35 and $45, fees were $9-12. in reply to interjection #
  • @amanda_nan are you going to imogen too? I want to go to that, maybe. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • I'm at Mizu Sushi Bar (133 South 20th Street, at Walnut, Philadelphia). http://bit.ly/36zAf5 #
  • Both @brimil & I are still hyperventilating about seeing Gaga from 30ft away. I'm at a loss for words. #
  • I'm at Brown Betty Bakery (20th Street, Philadelphia). http://bit.ly/382Fgh #
  • @inflammatorywrt I'm into the image/intent more than the music, but the music is like updated Madonna s/t, so I'm down with that too. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @paullucci I know! I'm like – how do I manage this without having my own costume changes? I have no idea. in reply to paullucci #
  • @valerieeev Oh, it hasn't happened yet! We got GA pit tickets to her show in NJ, and the pit there is TINY. in reply to valerieeev #
  • @amanda_nan RASPBERRY STRUDEL. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @brimil Cupcake pretty outlook-altering, yes? in reply to brimil #
  • @valerieeev I didn't know you were at Drexel for GD! A vast # of my friends (& wife) graduated from COMAD, or whatever they're calling it in reply to valerieeev #
  • RT @NYPhilanthropy: WOW! Unbelievable!!! @girlsincnyc: Rape: A Pre-existing Condition? http://bit.ly/3bG7QO via @feministing @theundomestic in reply to NYPhilanthropy #
  • I've read stories about sexual assault as a pre-existing condition this week, & they're all sickening. How can you fault someone for abuse? #
  • Yikes, all the good seats for Lady Gaga sold out like lightning, including pit. Wish I had bought some extra to scalp. #
  • Apparently a big factor in tidying my studio is the backlog of 30+ cds to import into itunes. #
  • @SarahPsyDeal That has to be a very dysfunctional household. I'm still not convinced that Cowboys fans can be quality human beings. in reply to SarahPsyDeal #
  • It's a shame Gina doesn't like Lady Gaga, because I just figured out a really awesome two-person cover of Lovegame. #
  • Heading to see Wild Things w/ @not_pele & @victoriaspaeth, though we have been downgraded from our originally-planned dinner date. #
  • #gagahasmyheart and will continue to own it until I am close enough to touch her on 12/3 with my fav clients & SM people in the pit! #
  • Good lord, this Airborne Toxic Event album is mediocre. How did this band get signed? They have nothing going for them. #
  • @mkaisr Haha, I'm not often vindicated by Pitchfork, but I'll take it on this occasion. in reply to mkaisr #
  • Thought Where the Wild Things Are was terrifying and beautiful. Couldn't have been done any other way. #
  • @freshleafdesign I thought it was a little terrifying at points. A mature 9yr old would dig it. More advanced than Labyrinth; not silly. in reply to freshleafdesign #
  • @freshleafdesign the implication being that Labyrinth is the only other appropriately challenging kids' movie I can think of. in reply to freshleafdesign #
  • @amanda_nan um, with no context that sounds pretty scary. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • Oh. @not_pele: "I don't think I can make out with you to Adam Lambert." #
  • @Chris_Huff I used to use those sites until I realized for every 1 person with a valid opinion trying to help there are 100 tasteless idiots in reply to Chris_Huff #
  • One bike ride through scenic Camden later and I'm watching the Vikings' game with Gina & @wfenza. #
  • @SarahPsyDeal Because that's between the Ben & Wes & Gina, and I was confused enough without trying to find an alternate route :) in reply to SarahPsyDeal #
  • @SarahPsyDeal G&W live in scenic Collingswood. in reply to SarahPsyDeal #
  • My 5yr anniversary gifts at work? $25ish each. Gina's 5yr anniversary gifts at work? $150ish each? #
  • I am choosing between a pinky ring or a water pitcher. She is choosing between a garden tool kit, a dehydrator, & a small boat. #
  • @SarahPsyDeal I am rooting against you :) in reply to SarahPsyDeal #
  • Gina made the best apple cake on the planet. I asked her for the recipe, and she said "I just Googled Apple Cake; it was first." #endofbooks #
  • @SarahPsyDeal Yes! They are my NFC team when I find myself unable to support the Iggles. I used to like the Steelers, but I don't like Ben. in reply to SarahPsyDeal #
  • PERCY HARVIN. Fuck yes. #
  • And that ref is down for the count. Like, seriously, get in front of the lead blocker on a Kickoff return and you can expect a knockout. #
  • Lame: Fox is showing the (boo) Cowboys (boo) game, ostensibly because they're in the NFC East, but I'd much rather watch Saints/Dolphins. #
  • @paullucci I guess these are the two bigger national teams? I don't really know how it all works. Rather watch the perfect schedule defense. in reply to paullucci #
  • God I hate television. One 30 second block of commercials is enough to make me want a lobotomy. #
  • @angel189 @docsarah @onedr Now that I've given up Eagles football I only tend to watch live TV two or three times a year. Which is plenty. #
  • Brands I am now soured to due to 3+ consecutive idiotic commercials each: Ford. McDonalds (no surprise there). And maybe: Apple. Microsoft. #
  • @valerieeev jealous; I've been listening to him a lot lately. Can't believe he's playing the Factory! Once saw him at The Point. in reply to valerieeev #
  • Rode a respectable 15 miles, all told, and now relaxing to some of my favorite S1 Galactica (Flesh & Bone / Tigh Me Up Tigh Me Down). #
  • I love how the insanely tense scene in Tigh Me Up is completely diffused by hilarious woodwinds in the score. Also, Ellen's Cylon test? Hmm. #
  • @wfenza I keep reading that it's less a SG spinoff and more a legitimate Sci-Fi show. Might DVD it next year. in reply to wfenza #
  • @wfenza PS: We have the BSG 4.5 set now, with an extra-extended last episode. Could it be redeemed by more footage? in reply to wfenza #
  • @wfenza Some of the extendeds have been better than the broadcast versions because they had to cut all the context scenes. Yet to watch. in reply to wfenza #
  • Cannot discern from Battlestar Wiki ( http://bit.ly/is2oF ) if the general consensus of Baltar's test of Ellen has changed in light of 4.5. #
  • Candy Love: special edition pomegranate Tootsie Roll pops. LOVE. #
  • Wife astutely points out that the meh CNN.com redesign puts all the useful user-sought content under the "fold" – focus is on push content. #
