What I Tweeted, 2010-05-31 Edition

May 30, 2010 by krisis

My best and most blog-worthy tweets of the last week:

I’ve concluded that the internet hates me & is trying to shun me. That’s the only explanation for my life’s complete internet-fail right now #

It reaffirms my faith in karma when people who have treated me with respect ever since I was an intern are recognized for their achievements #

@BrandiNeloms So very true. Your credibility in a crisis can never be higher than your credibility on a regular, boring day. in reply to BrandiNeloms #

Sometimes a day is awesome only by the grace of my amazing hair. #

Verizon = poor SM support integration. Spent a week chatting w/Twitter rep, phone rep has no record of it. Taking me through the same steps #

I’m not sure what to think about someone who has a full color portrait of Freddy Krueger tattooed on his calf. #

Awesome video of my Philly music friend @ChristieLenee impromptu jamming w/Tim Reynolds (yes, occasionally of DMB)http://vimeo.com/12025218 #

I think @ChristieLenee is possibly the best guitarist I’ve met in Philly, both for chunky acoustic stuff and hot guitar leads. She’s amazing #

In my 1st month & a half of blogging I posted 550 times. What was wrong w/me? Yes, those were the foundation of my blog empire, but really? #

Five hours of sleep later, it’s now time to choose an outfit that will look good plummeting from 14,000 feet. #

.

All of my tweets (minus some @-replies) are hidden below, mostly for my own reference. Some highlighted topics/conversations you might want to browse include:

  • Participating in #PR20chat on brand crises
  • Poor support from Verizon
  • Extreme Memorial Day Weekend
  • You should follow me on Twitter so you can read my tweet action as it happens.

    .

      Sunday Evening / Monday

    • I somehow fell into creating a major feature on CK – something I wasn’t able to find elsewhere on the web after 2 days of vigorous searching #
    • Catching up on Lost finale – they didn’t blow it quite as bad as BSG did, but proved much of their mystique was in the stupidity of viewers. #
    • I’ve concluded that the internet hates me & is trying to shun me. That’s the only explanation for my life’s complete internet-fail right now #
    • This still sounds too insane to say out loud, but Gina just agreed to do a triathlon sprint w/me in August, w/ @brimil serving as mentor #
      Tuesday
    • I hope all my Philly Social Media friends have fun and learn lots at today’s Social Media Plus conference! #
    • It reaffirms my faith in karma when people who have treated me with respect ever since I was an intern are recognized for their achievements #
    • Forget about pining after a lunch break – some days I am pining over a bathroom break. #
    • @adriandayton such an intriguing question – when does it stop being expected or added value from an employee & start requiring compensation? in reply to adriandayton #
    • @DavidSpinks Hard to serve both masters – at a point the content (and tone) begins to really diverge! in reply to DavidSpinks #
    • @adriandayton still part of the compensation equation for salaried employees – are the benefits strong enough to offset 2am email checks? in reply to adriandayton #
    • @ How to decide when crisis has been reached, ie, making sure your org doesn’t cry wolf in their pr. in reply to prtini #
    • @ksuzepperly That’s awesome! I also noted that you were #1 on his AI9 top 10 performances blog, and commenters agreed with him ;) in reply to ksuzepperly #
    • @BrandiNeloms Agreed, likely several criteria. Have seen examples of brands pulling the CRISIS trigger too soon, legitimizing it. #pr20chat in reply to BrandiNeloms #
    • Excited to kick off tonight’s #pr20chat by submitting the lead question in their discussion of brands in crisis (it’s a fav word of mine ;) #
    • @pr20chat The plan needs to exist at least as a sketched & rehearsed procedure, to make sure areas can work together to respond #pr20chat in reply to pr20chat #
    • @pr20chat Not knowing how to comm across internal silos in a crisis frequently worsens the problem early in the brand response #pr20chat #
    • @BrandiNeloms So very true. Your credibility in a crisis can never be higher than your credibility on a regular, boring day. in reply to BrandiNeloms #
    • Very interesting to see a group of comm/PR pros take on the task of defining what a crisis is and how to best manage it. #
    • @CelsiusMI The point about chain of command can’t be overstated. Look at crises like SWAir/KSmith debacle. Channels must be clear. #pr20chat in reply to CelsiusMI #
    • @decillis “respond where there’s traction” is why good SM relations help avert crises; makes it harder for traction to be gained. #pr20chat in reply to decillis #
    • @krisis Intro: I’m Peter, CorpComm-er & musician in Philly fascinated by the opportunity that lies within a crisis (thus my name). #pr20chat #
    • @prtini Q5 is very thorny. You want to be out there re-assuring your publics, but every word in a crisis is measured and recorded. #pr20chat in reply to prtini #
    • @KseniaCoffman Also, I think SM people try to over-explain while in crisis mode, and people save those words for later as gotchas #pr20chat in reply to KseniaCoffman #
      Wednesday
    • Sometimes a day is awesome only by the grace of my amazing hair. #
    • For the 2nd time ever called a Congressman’s office to complain. Strangely empowering. Get on the side of Net Neutrality, Bob Brady! #
    • @adriandayton I think jeans can work if you dress them up appropriately but I agree; your look is part of the narrative of your presentation in reply to adriandayton #
    • @Cecilyk Yeah, the whole randomness of buying-up-mortgages just freaks me out. I have some companies that I seriously boycott. Not cool. in reply to Cecilyk #
    • Nearly 10yrs into my blogging endeavor I don’t think I will ever get over presenting about blogs in meetings at work. #
    • Verizon = poor SM support integration. Spent a week chatting w/Twitter rep, phone rep has no record of it. Taking me through the same steps #
    • Reliable service for yrs but if these are the teeth I have to pull to get help w/net down for a wk maybe i DO want Comcast for the new house #
    • I’m fine w/non-English speaking reps, & I’m really trying with this gentleman, but we’re getting to the point of him repeating things 4x! #
    • So very frustrating. Starting to look like we might not have internet until we move to the new house. #
    • @valkrye131 Hmm. I’m just so disappointed in their support tree. No one even asked me to check my modem’s IP. in reply to valkrye131 #
    • @shunmahoney I’ve tweeted a bit w/a Verizon rep who tried to be helpful, but then the phone reps had no record that I interacted at all. in reply to shunmahoney #
      Thursday
    • I’m not sure what to think about someone who has a full color portrait of Freddy Krueger tattooed on his calf. #
    • @wfenza We cannot get from here to tubing quickly enough. #
    • In Philly for Beer Week? You can design your own pint glasses @ Hudson Beach (where my friend Chris is an apprentice!) http://bit.ly/cM55Yd #
    • @JuliaEveHays He wasn’t even a scary-looking guy! Just a normal dude who happens to have Freddy on his person, beckoning me w/a single claw. in reply to JuliaEveHays #
    • What is with the big Hall & Oates resurgence this year? Bird & Bee released an amazing album of their covers & now they’re on American Idol? #
    • Internet is back! Not sure if Verizon did something remotely, or if my (directed by Verizon) tooling around in the switchbox fixed something #
    • Awesome video of my Philly music friend @ChristieLenee impromptu jamming w/Tim Reynolds (yes, occasionally of DMB) http://vimeo.com/12025218 #
    • I think @ChristieLenee is possibly the best guitarist I’ve met in Philly, both for chunky acoustic stuff and hot guitar leads. She’s amazing #
    • @StaceyMonk, I so wanted to meet you at #140conf I’ve followed you before and since. You do wonderful things with wonderful energy! @catetv #
    • @dominickevans Dominick, she is an incredible musician. A lot of her guitar work is reminiscent of Ani D, but that hardly describes her. in reply to dominickevans #
    • @seesawshuffle That’s so true, I never feel defeated when I watch her – just inspired! in reply to seesawshuffle #
    • @dominickevans Her voice is amazing. She’s done some vocal work with other singer/songwriter friends of mine and they’ve improved HUGELY. in reply to dominickevans #
    • @mattjh Actually @seesawshuffle was intro’d online via @sifelaver & then she played a show w/friends of mine :) Still haven’t properly met #
    • @RobIsEvil That’s a pretty awesome feeling. Commutes are evil. in reply to RobIsEvil #
      Friday
    • Listening to recordings of Gina from 2002. Our gear was so lo-fi back then, it sounds like a Joni Mitchell record from 1971 :) #
    • Interesting read @jalopnik: Did The U.S. gov’t kill the safest car ever built – even though it was American-made? http://bit.ly/dwSA8z #
    • Apparently I used up all my accumulated bad karma on having no phone/net for a week, because we just got (more) amazing house news! #
    • A cartoon guide to LARPing (live action role-playing) – http://bit.ly/9CrjQg – both the guide and the cartoons are awesomely hilarious. #
    • @HallmanComposer Thanks for the shout-out! Did you see the revisions to the bill? @philebrity blogged about it. We still need to catch up ;) in reply to HallmanComposer #
    • Pondering from @philebrity: Is Philly’s notable Gayborhood dying out? http://bit.ly/awkjjS #
    • In my 1st month & a half of blogging I posted 550 times. What was wrong w/me? Yes, those were the foundation of my blog empire, but really? #
    • I cannot believe I missed seeing Janelle Monae at Johnny Brenda’s. Clearly she’s gonna blow up http://bit.ly/9SAFBa (Tightrope on Letterman) #
    • @marksherrick @eddidit At that point in 2000 the Blogger experience was more like Twitter; people were posting every hour, or even more! in reply to marksherrick #
    • @marksherrick Ha! My volume definitely dropped. It’s solely by the virtue of those posts that my avg remains >1post/day near my 10th anniv in reply to marksherrick #
    • @eddidit My goal is always 1/day on weekdays, because I feel like that allows me to do the shorter, more ad lib posts that are more personal in reply to eddidit #
    • @eddidit Whereas if my frequency is too low I feel silly posting shorter, quippier posts. in reply to eddidit #
    • @PurpleCar You can RENT that? Now somewhat regretting compromising on a smaller yard for the new house… in reply to PurpleCar #
    • @Bcrip When will I learn to just go out and see people who I am sure are going to get massive? It’s not like I didn’t know how insane she is in reply to Bcrip #
    • Lots of folks are urging me to have a “housecooling” party at our old place to say goodbye to it (and maybe annoy the neighbors). Hmm… #
    • @bengarvey Yes, I feel like we’d have to have a house-cooling after we move, & what’s the fun in that? Are we going to want to go back here? in reply to bengarvey #
    • @heathie Before, but the chances of that occurring are usually pretty slim ;) in reply to heathie #
    • @bengarvey I spoke w/@heathie about a MusicCamp of some kind. I feel like a lot of Philly artists would be ambivalent; needs core of support in reply to bengarvey #
      Extreme Memorial Day Weekend
    • En route to tubing with a massive gang of friends, followed by skydiving tomorrow. No, I don’t know what the pod people did w/actual Peter. #
    • 140chars cannot describe the insanity of this day. After digging our car out of sand we all collectively sang the theme from Indiana Jones. #
    • We are still all covered in sand, completely exhausted, sprawled across @wfenza‘s living room watching the Flyers. #
    • @smashleydubs dude, I forgot how awesome hockey is ;) #
    • Memorial Day Weekend: Extreme Edition continues in 8.5hrs when we jump out of a plane. Between now and then I plan to take an extreme shower #
    • @MOgulnick We can’t agree on a team, but we can agree that game was crazy! I haven’t watched hockey in so long, I forgot how much I love it. in reply to MOgulnick #
    • I have 19,000+ songs & they’re all completely organized, correctly spelled, artist-ed, album-art-ed, & tagged. #SaveYourBreath @SaveTheSongs #
    • Five hours of sleep later, it’s now time to choose an outfit that will look good plummeting from 14,000 feet. #
    • Argh, he beat me to it. Now I have to jump again. RT @wfenza I became the mayor of Pennridge Airport on @foursquare! http://4sq.com/8XJ8aH in reply to wfenza #
    • @wfenza Whatever, as long as Bono is singing clearly it is inspirational. in reply to wfenza #
    • An absolutely perfect sky to dive out of, w/ @wfenza & @arcati81 http://twitpic.com/1sgjil #
    • Arcati Crisis has landed. #
    • @schmidtultra dude, it is so freaking gorgeous today – no clouds or haze in sight. Hope you get the same tomorrow! in reply to schmidtultra #
    • We collectively decided that Tom Petty has the best skydive oriented repertoire of anyone on my iPod. #
