What I Tweeted, 2010-06-07 Edition

June 6, 2010 by krisis

My best and most blog-worthy tweets of the last week:

Now that I’ve begun to do E’s nightly exercises alongside her I’m beginning to understand how she has built the endurance to tolerate me. #

This gave me chills: Chris Daughtry & Kelly Clarkson sing “Fast Car” in Nashville, TN http://youtu.be/eZBIylvH4jo -amazing harmony from both #

My VP just walked into my cube drinking a cup of coffee held by a massive, Flyers-orange, Hulk-smash sized fist affixed over her arm. LOL. #

I know this Joss Whedon Onion interview is ancient (and infamous), but i never get tired of it http://bit.ly/cfIEzq #

I think when I have my week off for moving to the house I’m going to pretend that I blog & tweet for a living. Very productive, I’m sure :) #

Great – the creepy convict dude on my block is practicing two-handed knife fighting on our corner. Our block for twelve. more. days. #

@philly_bits wow, I haven’t slept a night in SW for over a dozen years! Don’t miss all the trolley sounds from Woodland ave. in reply to philly_bits #
@philly_bits oh, do you play “gunshots or car backfires” too? And then, in the summer (and chinese new year) you add “or fireworks”? in reply to philly_bits #

All of my tweets (minus some @-replies) are hidden below, mostly for my own reference. One highlighted topics/conversations you might want to browse was the great Verizon vs. Comcast debate.

You should follow me on Twitter so you can read my tweet action as it happens.

.

    Sunday Evening, Monday, & Tuesday

  • E just introduced me to Restoration Hardware – I must own this lamp, but $1325? Really? I’m sure I can make it for less http://bit.ly/b0jUS4 #
  • Something about the concept of Restoration Hardware is offensive to me – like, it should be a “how-to” guide, not an overpriced yuppy store. #
  • Now that I’ve begun to do E’s nightly exercises alongside her I’m beginning to understand how she has built the endurance to tolerate me. #
  • Even though my weekend was epic, I am energized and eager to engage with life in this short week. I think I can make it awesome. #
  • I discovered on Sunday that skydiving seems a lot more insane the SECOND time you are jumping out a plane because you KNOW what will happen. #
  • More (constant?) failure from Verizon; encouraged me to sign up for new service online, but the online menu excludes several product options #
  • And, consistent with my past 2wks of experience with Verizon, support reps have no idea WHATSOEVER about the options in their own system. #
  • Seriously, if there was an option other than Comcast I would take it in a heartbeat. Utility oligopoly sucks; no reason to please a customer #
  • @ComcastBonnie Bonnie, I love your SM team and all that you do, but I haven’t heard a single positive referral from anyone in my new zip ;( in reply to ComcastBonnie #
  • @bengarvey Can’t get FIOS with anything but the most jacked-up, unnecessary home phone plan, which is like paying for another cell phone. in reply to bengarvey #
  • @marksherrick Hmm, that’s an unknown quantity for me. Assumed we wouldn’t reach an efficiency of $ since we don’t want any TV services. in reply to marksherrick #
  • @mpomy Good to know. Sounds like if I can manage to get them to take my money we’ll be fine ;) @bengarvey in reply to mpomy #
  • @bengarvey Hmmmmmm. Were you able to do that online? in reply to bengarvey #
  • @radiocolin I don’t entirely care about lock-in, since we’ll be in the house for at least five years. I just want a la cart, super-fast net. #
  • @radiocolin Also, looks like Comcast has slower upstream across all packages. in reply to radiocolin #
  • @bengarvey Yeah, I’m contemplating if the FIOS is actually going to be cheaper even with the ridiculously overstuffed phone plan. in reply to bengarvey #
  • @bengarvey Yeah, my current up is a joke, it takes all night to upload a new HD YouTube video. in reply to bengarvey #
  • @ComcastBonnie Never been Comcast customers. Friends/neighbors complained of poor service/outages. Also your upstream is slower on all plans in reply to ComcastBonnie #
  • @ComcastBonnie Because we both work online and do SM for our bands, any outage outrage is a killer for us. Only one outage in 5yrs w/Verizon in reply to ComcastBonnie #
  • @radiocolin Could be things are different outside of CC. I’m just not willing to roll the dice if it involves slower up and a 2yr contract. in reply to radiocolin #
  • @radiocolin I appreciate all the info to help us make our decision! Regardless of other factors, their upstream is too low for the plan cost in reply to radiocolin #
  • @marykateruf Haven’t had cable since the 90s ;) in reply to marykateruf #
  • @radiocolin Frequently uploading HD video, wav files, backing up mixing files, so every 1mbps counts! Considering a 25/25 plan. in reply to radiocolin #
  • Was just reminded of this photo of me from our trip to Vermont in ’08 – I’m like New England Dundee http://bit.ly/axYeeq #
  • @comcastbonnie After another frustrating few hours with Verizon I think I am reconsidering your offer. Is there an upstream upgrade to buy? #
  • @ComcastBonnie Read about bonding earlier; interesting stuff! You’ll be happy to know I had a flood of positive Comcast recs after we talked in reply to ComcastBonnie #
  • @ComcastBonnie Of course I picked the hard utility – wife has gas and electric. Less troublesome than this morass of details! in reply to ComcastBonnie #
  • Me: It says, “Or, you can explore our bundles.” E: “Are you sure you didn’t call the phone sex line by mistake again?” #
  • Wednesday

  • Even a full day of wrassling utility providers yesterday couldn’t put a damper on this week. It’s just meant to be awesome. #
  • @CateTV I don’t know where you find the time to peek into everyone’s lives! I guess I’m just hammered by new house stuff at the moment. xoxo in reply to CateTV #
  • @londonmodgirl I do appreciate that all of Comcast’s Customer Service agents are really trying to improve the perception. Easy to talk to. in reply to londonmodgirl #
  • @marykateruf Yeah, we do a lot of Netflix and Hulu, but part of it is just not getting into shows until they’re already over. in reply to marykateruf #
  • @tangofoxtrot Well, we rolled the dice. We’ll see how it goes later this month when we move. in reply to tangofoxtrot #
  • @mpomy @bengarvey The utility-tussle went right up until midnight. I’ll say this: Comcast has the better a la carte internet deals in Philly #
  • @RobIsEvil I used to have a list of “Top 10 Things to Do w/Lottery Earnings.” I think I need to update it. in reply to RobIsEvil #
  • @CateTV Would love to catch up by phone! Working on a pilot of web series for both me solo and for the band, inspired by lovely you :) in reply to CateTV #
  • My heart is utterly broken by the @philebrity story of the young woman who was murdered in NoLib last night. I can’t even find the words. #
  • Sometimes a song I’m stuck on is just a picture I am looking at the wrong way – seeing the old lady instead of the young girl. #
    Thursday
  • @mandy_payne I feel like there’s a fine line between color theory and bad interior decorating. Like, rooms aren’t palettes – they’re places. in reply to mandy_payne #
  • Not as bowled over by the Bettye Lavette album as critics are. She’s always compelling, but songs have famous melodies for a reason. #
  • @mandy_payne Oh, agreed – good to play. I just think people can get married to what the color wheel tells them without thinking of the space in reply to mandy_payne #
  • I think my favorite reinterpretations album so far this year is Bird and the Bee’s Hall & Oates record. I was skeptical, but it is AWESOME. #
  • @rzklkng Hey, thanks for the nod in your links post the other day! in reply to rzklkng #
  • Can’t get this off repeat – The Bird and the Bee cover of Hall & Oate’s “Rich Girl” ♫ http://blip.fm/~rhds3 #
  • Avengers Assembled! Fan uses the newly leaked pre-viz costumes of Capt. America & Thor to assemble the full team. http://bit.ly/dkB8fd #
  • Geeking out more than a little that I’m finally a @radian6 client! Looking forward to a chance to be hands on with their tools. #
  • @vargasl I’ve met so many awesome Radian6 people on Twitter in the last year, I’m happy my company is getting the chance to work with you :) in reply to vargasl #
  • This gave me chills: Chris Daughtry & Kelly Clarkson sing “Fast Car” in Nashville, TN http://youtu.be/eZBIylvH4jo -amazing harmony from both #
  • Watching Burton’s Alice w/@not_pele and @amanda_nan. Wonderful company, but the movie looks flimsy and plastic. #
  • Friday

  • My VP just walked into my cube drinking a cup of coffee held by a massive, Flyers-orange, Hulk-smash sized fist affixed over her arm. LOL. #
  • We’re almost halfway through 2010; what are your favorite albums of the year, so far? #
  • My fav ’10 LPs so far are an odd pair: Rufus’s dire piano/vox disc & Bird & Bee H&O tribute. Liked Contra despite myself. Lots of undecideds #
  • Some new LPs I own & need to hear more of to decide: Black Keys, Monae, Nat’l, Sharon Jones, Jonsi, Badu, Goldfrapp, Scanners, Patty Griffin #
  • So very happy for our good friend & frequent house guest @amanda_nan. Shows that persistence & positivity can make a difference in your life #
  • There’s so much positive karma in the air today! New jobs, good personal news. If you haven’t received the good yet, just keep spreading it. #
  • @jennlyn81 @lwcavallucci My mantra, when I can remember it, is “Give Good, Get Better.” in reply to jennlyn81 #
  • Sad end to a beautiful story cc @thatdrew RT @LadyGaga http://www.twitlonger.com/show/1l8ndr we lost a lovely and beautiful little monster #
  • @JoelxSoul Thank you for sharing your story. Everyone battling cancer should receive the love and strength that you gave to Ana. in reply to JoelxSoul #
  • I #blamecancer that the return on good karma some of my close friends are experiencing today isn’t more widespread. #
  • Browsing sites for contractors & home repair is like time travel back to the 90s! How do small businesses make money w/out usable sites? #
  • Love the subtle unspoken beats in French McD’s ad. RT @BuzzEdition Gay Friendly McDonald’s Ad Goes Viral http://bit.ly/bdpKOQ @buttercupD #
  • @iconjohn That’s how we got most of the contractors for the new house, but for external stuff I want to see products / options. in reply to iconjohn #
  • @iconjohn And, I know this is mostly just me, but I don’t like to commit without references from others – WOM from one person means nothing. in reply to iconjohn #
  • @nwjerseyliz I know what you mean. I’m always surprised at how much of both I see in trending topics, running alongside my daily interaction in reply to nwjerseyliz #
  • Packed two boxes and called four wrought-iron railing companies. Pretty efficient for two hours at home. #
  • Of course, as soon as I pack the video games I’m like, “Do you know what would be awesome right now? Video games!” #
  • @DooleyNoted Every time I see those I marvel that that sort of legislation can pass. Can you imagine, here? Lobbying can derail anything. in reply to DooleyNoted #
  • I know this Joss Whedon Onion interview is ancient (and infamous), but i never get tired of it http://bit.ly/cfIEzq #
  • @iconjohn Oh, definitely. Once you are established in a place you have much more context for recommendations. It’s all completely new to us. in reply to iconjohn #
  • @mayareguru Did you ever get to check out Little Boots, who I was enthusing about on our ride home from 140conf? Brit, Gaga-adjacent. #
  • I have so much unlistened-to new music; listening to 1500+ unique songs a month still leaves thousands unheard. Need time to make music too! #
  • Love “Little Earthquake,” icy dance cut from Gaga-ish UK import Little Boots http://blip.fm/~rkfn6 finally out in US in 2010 CC @mayaREguru #
  • If I could purchase cable channels a la cart there’s a serious chance I would buy only Tennis Channel and be completely content. #
  • @SteveC215 Agreed – definitely has a Kylie vibe. Just afraid not many US music fans will know what that means ;) in reply to SteveC215 #
  • @SteveC215 Having a huge 2010 music summit this weekend, I am dozens of albums behind in my listening. in reply to SteveC215 #
  • Super-rare solo version of Girl from Tori Amos on the upcoming Artists Den: http://vimeo.com/11568990 Not a fan recently, but this is strong #
  • I think when I have my week off for moving to the house I’m going to pretend that I blog & tweet for a living. Very productive, I’m sure :) #
  • Crazy! Seems impossible. RT @CateTV RT @engadget PlayStation emulator coming to Android, courtesy of yongzh and ZodTTD http://bit.ly/9r2Rql #
  • @amanda_nan WTF, you’re on a merry-go-round of Philly’s Rudest People. Don’t make me start texting you every 20mins to make sure you’re ok. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @amanda_nan It’s the ones that add up to 10! Mine was 5/5/10! I am locking myself in my house on 7/3, 8/2, and 9/1. Worse than a full moon. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @amanda_nan Heh, let’s get us in there first. Packed the very important boxes of video games and modern literature tonight. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @mayaREguru Then we would be two smartasses :) in reply to mayaREguru #
  • @eddidit Just something about this year. My 5/5 was absolutely batshit insane in an almost identical way to Nan’s day, minus attempted theft in reply to eddidit #
  • @drewmaniac @davidrisely Unconscionable protectionism to support a failing US industry. Because we’ve seen that turn out so well in the past in reply to drewmaniac #
  • on EW Lee DeWyze defends his out-of-tuneness because he’s “really into the song”? I like this guy less & less every time he opens his mouth. #
  • Saturday

  • I know there’s a righteous party @wfenza‘s in NJ right now, but that would involve putting pants on and interacting with other people. Hmm. #
  • Great – the creepy convict dude on my block is practicing two-handed knife fighting on our corner. Our block for twelve. more. days. #
  • @philly_bits wow, I haven’t slept a night in SW for over a dozen years! Don’t miss all the trolley sounds from Woodland ave. in reply to philly_bits #
  • It’s cool and beautiful outside in NJ, lying on a hammock and listening to my friends argue over the best bars in Philly. Good night. #
  • @philly_bits oh, do you play “gunshots or car backfires” too? And then, in the summer (and chinese new year) you add “or fireworks”? in reply to philly_bits #
  • I’m acquainted w/the idea of “work to fail” but tonight may be the 1st time I’ve literally collapsed in a set of pushups. Set a new record! #
  • Sunday

  • Dear violent zombie dreams: You were really cool (in a disturbing way), but what in god’s name did I do yesterday to warrant you? #
  • @dls337 I know, right! Maybe I did too many sit-ups yesterday. in reply to dls337 #
  • Rare as hell video of Veruca Salt singing b-side “Good Disaster” acoustic in 1997. http://dai.ly/dvAS4d – A huge influence on me! #
