What I Tweeted, 2010-07-19 Edition

July 18, 2010 by krisis

My tweets of the last week:

  • Quite a weekend! Started 30-day shredding, playing a 3hr gig, hung w/sibs-in-law, cleaned, worked on CK, & fell in love w/Pushing Daisies. #
  • @djmarilyn Absolutely! It's streaming on Netflix. Hard to describe (no one really did for me) but a coworker convinced me to watch the pilot in reply to djmarilyn #
  • @AllThingsGwen It was $8 on Amazon, got it the next day! I don't know how challenging it would be for you; good amount of cardio for me. in reply to AllThingsGwen #
  • I was resourceful & wrote a blog post on the El, which is a great way to take my mind off of the paralyzing OCD skeeve-attack I usually have #
  • WhatBird.com has not been able to identify my avian foe, but people keep coming to my desk to see why I am practicing bird calls. #
  • @AllThingsGwen It's just a single DVD, with three levels on it. http://amzn.to/a53l0x in reply to AllThingsGwen #
  • @amanda_nan Writing like that can only occur while riding the El. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • My uncanny ability to recall project #s & delivery dates is surely connected to childhood obsession w/comics. child:adult::comic:project #
  • I don't know who this is or how it wound up on my iPod but I'm loving Kristina Train's "No Man's Land." Dusty Springfield vibe. No stream :( #
  • @johhnny5 Totally valid. @not_pele shares both those skillsets. Unsure if she was also a Lego fiend. in reply to johhnny5 #
  • @tangofoxtrot Since cats land on their feet would it be reasonable for me to throw the cat out the window @ the bird every day at 4:45am? in reply to tangofoxtrot #
  • @adriandayton How are you largely using #foursquare I've found it best as a recommendation engine for what friends go/do/eat in my area. in reply to adriandayton #
  • @adriandayton It was awesome in NYC for #140conf when I didn't know where to go to lunch. A little handier in cities w/more checkins. in reply to adriandayton #
  • @adriandayton Also, I like to use it simply to remind myself where I was, like "where did I have that awesome slice of pizza last week?" in reply to adriandayton #
  • @tangofoxtrot Basically you are recommending that I adopt or borrow a circus-trained trapeze cat? in reply to tangofoxtrot #
  • @bengarvey Next time! We're back in September, and trying to brainstorm a way to make it a bigger extravaganza ;) in reply to bengarvey #
  • To alleviate remote midnight Outlook organizing parties I am trying a new policy wherein if I open a message I have to file it immediately. #
  • "85" from Rilo Kiley's debut EP; a lovely, early example of their indie-rock / alt-country mashup. ♫ http://blip.fm/~tdig5 #
  • Conference call w/ @leesaarobertson & @socialbrown to learn more of the ins and outs of @radian6. Pretty awesome, eh? #
  • Who would suggest that we use a World of Warcraft name generator for one of our new health care products? Like, in a big meeting? Answer: me #
  • "New for you small business, ASEIWIEL RAGNAROK is your final destiny in health care plans, with benefits that have been foretold." #
  • @Not_Pele Funny thing to be in the collective unconscious; you aren't even reading any comic books! in reply to Not_Pele #
  • @jennlyn81 At the point that we're looking for a made up word not owned by another brand it seems like a safe solution ;) in reply to jennlyn81 #
  • In that same meeting I also said: "Your project isn't on the back burner! It's just not on the front burner that has a Power Boil setting." #
  • @axestatic Substitute, always! One of Madonna's best and most-layered songs. in reply to axestatic #
  • @anniemal Preach that. There's "motivational" stress and "slightly implausible" stress, but do not dig physically "impossible" stress in reply to anniemal #
  • @LenKendall that would be the Nintendo method of repair you're employing ;) in reply to LenKendall #
  • I don't know how people wear flip flops on the El. I feel like you could catch plague from this floor. #
  • @leesa_up @marykateruf Not only is Rilo Kiley one of my fav recent bands, but I covet their sound on Blacklight. Modern Fleetwood Mac = LOVE in reply to leesa_up #
  • @adriandayton @Chrometa Yeah, when we attended a wedding in small-town CT I was the only one checking in in the entire county ;) many points in reply to adriandayton #
  • @Not_Pele Still learning new things about you every day ;) @johhnny5 in reply to Not_Pele #
  • @johhnny5 @amanda_nan any kind of outlandish non-el situation I can project myself into, i'll take it over being mentally present on it. in reply to johhnny5 #
  • @amanda_nan at first I thought Chuck was sort of off-putting, but now she just reminds me of Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley. Love her costuming in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @gloriabell @tangofoxtrot Do you suppose the circus cat would stick its head into the mouth of a really large guy with a long beard? in reply to gloriabell #
  • @melissa_shae You may be the only person who feels that way. Outlandish pop culture analogies are the language I project manage in ;) in reply to melissa_shae #
  • @melissa_shae I refer to the large group piece as a "build your own hamburger" or "Wawa hoagie" style of brochure ;) in reply to melissa_shae #
  • @jimshreds I have this ridiculous list of where I can and can't wear flip flops, which – if violated – may cause me to spontaneously expire. in reply to jimshreds #
  • @jimshreds like, supermarkets, yes, but only if my trip will end in the frozen food section… ? I have no idea how that became a rule. in reply to jimshreds #
  • Monsters In streaming from Starz on Netflix is Pan & Scan. So lame. What decade is this, again? #
  • Of course @amanda_nan knows what kind of bird has been torturing me. The whippoorwill must die. #
  • 1st time doing the new commute in less-than-ideal weather conditions. The rain is lovely, but a little daunting. #
  • We had a full-floor flicker that shut down some PCs. I do not relish taking the stairs down 38 flights in these boots if the power goes out. #
  • @radiocolin Well, I did make it through the entirety of the Louvre in them, but they're a wee heavy for trudging up or down stairs. in reply to radiocolin #
  • @marykateruf Love the first three songs on Execution. Not a big More Adventurous fan. in reply to marykateruf #
  • Turned into one of those days that I wrote "Kick Me" about last year: http://bit.ly/yssHn -Have to remind myself the song has a happy ending #
  • @MelGreiner Happy to see that we've finally worn down your Twitter resistance :) #
  • I think my intense skeeving of the El has actually improved my productivity; get an hour of extra work a day while pretending I'm not on it. #
  • @marykateruf Hmm – guarded optimism. Don't love her solo stuff as much as Rilo. Intrigued to hear that special track. in reply to marykateruf #
  • Any day can be improved by @BrownBettyDB cupcakes. I think @melgreiner & I determined sour cream/lemon curd is 2nd only to the sweet potato. #
  • Managing a photo shoot at our studio. Used to be a reason for glee; still are, but funny how a few short years turns the unique into ususal. #
  • @brimil You know my rule: super-ultra-lockdown for everyone, graduated slowly to less lockdown. Some things (blog, twitter) are all-public. in reply to brimil #
  • 30 days since the move & my life is just about in order! My non-books boxes are unpacked; waiting for electrician visit to start recording. #
  • Makes sense; no eggs doesn't preclude chickens. RT @ikepigott The chicken came first, not the egg, scientists prove http://post.ly/nDDz #
  • @cupcakie I want to introduce you to @melgreiner, another awesome copywriter/comm-gal I adore. We were perusing your site(s) together ;) #
  • @Ohdoctah Just saw your OldSpice video on my FaceBook feed, thinking, "Um, I pretty sure I know this guy." Sure enough, I do ;) #
  • @ikepigott Well, in keeping with the article, "chickens" were probably being born in softer-than-egg conditions until the protein evolved. in reply to ikepigott #
  • Wife, dissenting RT @Not_Pele Reptiles were laying eggs long before chickens. Chicken-predecessor may have laid egg that hatched 1st chicken #
  • @DavidSpinks Surprised this isn't coming up more re: Foursquare. I used to beep my mother when I was travelling; now would just GPS check-in in reply to DavidSpinks #
  • @Not_Pele Depends on how we define "chicken," I suppose. My point was, if that egg-making-protein defines a chicken, the chicken came 1st. in reply to Not_Pele #
  • @DavidSpinks She's a nurse, so phasing it out for her has to mean they're declining – even in medicine. in reply to DavidSpinks #
  • @DavidSpinks "it" meaning geolocation? What about linking to a medical alert bracelet or similar, transmit known conditions & GPS to rescue? in reply to DavidSpinks #
  • A problem with needing to copy-edit things for my blog is that I may have already been copy-editing for eight hours prior to getting to it. #
  • @melgreiner This is an intro I may later rue, but you can direct all manner of wine- and Bloomsday-loving tweets to @not_pele, AKA Elise. #
  • @melgreiner If you want to check out a very active chat via hashtag, take a look at #SmallBizChat by Thurs morning it'll be 100s of tweets! #
  • Hull of 18th century ship uncovered at Ground Zero; speculated to be used as landfill to extend NYC http://gu.com/p/2td27/tw via @radiocolin #
  • @EileenOBrien I was going to say it feels like I haven't seen you in months, but I think I ACTUALLY haven't seen you in months! How are you? #
  • @ryandaniel Read a hilarious old email from when we were going to report our employer for bad email marketing practices. Miss you. xo ;) #
  • @melgreiner I think you'll love @allieharch, a fellow foodie and pro journalist in SNJ. Her blog is @ http://afoodcoma.com #
  • @mayaREguru Do your adventures ever stop? I don't know how you get from one week to the next with energy still in your body! in reply to mayaREguru #
  • @jettsuperior Happy belated blogiversary ;) #
  • A sweaty, dance-rock Arcati Crisis rehearsal: Gina brought her guitar arrangement for "Dumbest Thing I Could Do." It's almost there! #
  • Longtime blog-friend Andy Dehnart of @realityblurred reviews the Harry Potter theme-park: spectacular but "plotless" http://bit.ly/am47DH #
  • @saraiderin Many rides do have narrative, although I always thought that was sort of ridiculous. Give me a fast coaster w/a quick line. in reply to saraiderin #
  • I do this frequently RT @ravenousraven Take a published song & write a diff lyric that fits the melody exactly. Now write new melod/chords. #
  • Buying Starcraft 2 seems like an admission that I'm won't get an EP recorded this summer once our electric is fixed. Damn you, @mikeyil! #
  • Oh, silly eBay users – why do you bid up something before the end of an auction? Just makes it more expensive for you in the end. #
  • @mikeyil The chances of me reimaging that computer 5x between now and when it dies are high; I like my physical products ;) in reply to mikeyil #
  • @mikeyil Also, I'm mostly a custom player, I don't like all you zerging assholes on BNet ;) in reply to mikeyil #
  • @mikeyil How do you mean? I always loved LAN games w/friends, and then I discovered BNet was just horrifying – never had any fun. in reply to mikeyil #
  • @mikeyil I guess I'll just always prefer WC2-style max-gold, max-dragons entrenched wars. in reply to mikeyil #
  • This is insane, but I'm actually starting to look slightly buff, in a lithe way. #
  • Take that, in-the-cracks-of-sidewalks weeds. No messy chemicals here – just muscle power. Argh. #
  • It's a simple formula: the fitter I feel, the less clothing I will wear when answering the door. I think I just made a random roofer blush. #
  • Also, must resist urge to do communications consulting w/every small business person who hands me a flyer. That's what @smallbizlady is for. #
  • @Marvel Why does the search on your site suck so much? I've spent TWO MONTHS trying to figure out the order to buy X-tpbs. Losing customers. #
  • Last non-storage box finally unpacked, 30days after move-in! Some books/decor to shuffle & gear to set up, but everything in its right place #
  • @ryandaniel YOU HAVE ARRIVED. (Seriously, though, I'm always a little puzzled when people know me from blog/twitter and I don't know them.) in reply to ryandaniel #
  • @thatdrew That's hot; I think it's what our sometimes drummer has. Bonus: The next gen rock games should be able to talk to midi kits! in reply to thatdrew #
  • New song! I've been wondering what it would take to start something new in this house. Apparently: order. #
  • @mikeyil Had I seen that 20 minutes ago I would have told you to come and have a beer with me ;) in reply to mikeyil #
  • I'm so hard on other people's lyrics, I think sometimes I force my own to be too complex. Sometimes people want a simpler story. #
  • @Remysbaby I'm just so obsessed w/ how lyrics track to themselves: thoughts unresolved, spare metaphors; it's like I dock points in my head. in reply to Remysbaby #
  • @Remysbaby Well, yeah, but they both track excellently ;) in reply to Remysbaby #
  • Are you all on vacation in the last 10 days of August? Contemplating another solo show downtown, but afraid no one will be here to see me! #
  • Sometimes I almost love Taylor Swift. (Shut up.) Her production totally clicks with me every time, but the lyrics can just be too cloying. #
  • I am freakin' loving the K'Naan's "Troubadour" LP. Goes to show, it's not that I don't like rap/hip-hop – just the mainstream radio format. #
