What I Tweeted, 2010-10-25 Edition

October 24, 2010 by krisis

My tweets of the last week:

  • I finally pried my open my back window and I can see our neighbor has a way better attic recording studio than I do. Maybe he’ll adopt me. #
  • 30 Rock has transformed from something I occasionally enjoy to something I require to function as a productive member of society. #
  • @djmarilyn And they weren’t even on their A-game on the live shows. Netflix has all four seasons streaming! in reply to djmarilyn #
  • Solid start to an awesome week: tour Sine Studio tonight, plugged Arcati Crisis rehearsal Tues, @filmstarband on Weds, Milkboy studio on Sat #
  • So much music in my life right now! All of that, not to mention possibly writing another song for the soundtrack to @ericsmithrocks‘s book #
  • @PAWeissenstein I think I can manage to make it marvelous. What about you? in reply to PAWeissenstein #
  • @ponteakabridge @SooperpowerTV The only TV show I watch is 30 Rock, w/ the occasional catch-up on Glee, fast-forwarding through Finn/Rachel. in reply to ponteakabridge #
  • @KevinEBowe It’s so ludicrous yet still reminds me of my life – 1 of the few shows that does (people say that about the Office, but not me). in reply to KevinEBowe #
  • @SooperpowerTV I usually only check out a show after it has lasted for 3+ seasons without a precipitous decline. Glee was an rare exception. in reply to SooperpowerTV #
  • @frankiethirteen Agreed entirely. Although, now I listen exclusively to the remaster from the A Piano box set. in reply to frankiethirteen #
  • Damnit, I’m in a photo shoot in less than an hour. I knew there was a reason I wanted to shave this morning. I need a personal assistant. #
  • @ericsmithrocks I read ahead & saw there are other male characters, so I started practicing my elocution in case my talent is called upon ;) in reply to ericsmithrocks #
  • A quick lunchtime LOL: Superman on Facebook http://t.co/U47ovdm via @slashfilm #
  • #musicmonday This La Roux tune took a long while to sink in, but now I suddenly adore it. ♫ http://blip.fm/~xkdxf #
  • @not_pele I don’t know why this hasn’t occurred to me previously but @filmstarband actually reminds me a lot of Shirley’s old band Angelfish #
  • Killer experiment on and explanation of the workigns of FB’s news algorithm from @tweber: http://bit.ly/ba35Zq (via @bethharte) #
  • @BethHarte What a fantastic post that is on @TheDailyBeast! Confirms some suspicions, debunks others. Thanks for sharing. in reply to BethHarte #
  • @AmberCadabra So true! People lock into the “shiny new object” fascination & forget that the most repeated strategies may be truly effective in reply to AmberCadabra #
  • @IBX Goes a long way to explaining why I consider the El to be the source of all forms of sickness – too much breathing on each other! in reply to IBX #
  • @BethHarte I’ve given that thought. Pages are effectively a “sharing hub” w/varied content; let the fans’ feed-power do the work when shared in reply to BethHarte #
  • Amazing: Tori Amos plays Precious Things live with an orchestra in concert for the first time: http://t.co/FYH7fiQ #
  • Society finds tacit (& not tacit) ways to promote misogyny daily http://bit.ly/aoumV5 -This goes hand-in-hand w/anti-bullying: it’s all hate #
  • @ErikaJL Just now seeing some portions. Voice is certainly not bad (compared to recent years)! I really hope this comes to the US in 2011. in reply to ErikaJL #
  • @ErikaJL OMG, the low brass on Marianne. I would die. Definitely on my top 10 moments of Tori’s unrestrained genius. in reply to ErikaJL #
  • Zama is quickly ascending my list of favorite sushi in Philly. Always so fresh, & great understated special maki: http://zamarestaurant.com #
  • @radiocolin I award extra points to anything that kills a child that’s a major character. in reply to radiocolin #
  • I’ve lifted my RHPS ban to commemorate its anniversary, but @not_pele claims you can’t watch it at home even if you get drunk & do callbacks #
  • I think the new house’s natural light has given me some kind of seasonal affective thing – now that it’s dimmer in the AM I’m less awesome. #
  • Or it could be that I don’t have massively awesome massive hair to tweet about every AM. I’ll try my sunrise clock before I grow my hair out #
  • @THEkrismohfanz I haven’t read too much press on it, but everything I’ve had there in four trips has been incredible. in reply to THEkrismohfanz #
  • Last night toured http://sinestudios.com w/owner Matt Teacher. Amazing reflection-free space, & clips of Sine bands were awesome. #
  • Don’t worry, I’m not abandoning my DIY aesthetic! I love to self -record & -produce, but recording @filmstarband @ radio-quality is daunting #
  • Any of my Philly friends have a particularly beloved FEMALE primary care physician in the city? If so, send me a DM. #
  • What small biz can learn from Marvel Comics (& NOT from DC) http://bit.ly/d3dc4V (just don’t follow Marvel’s historically dreadful biz plan) #
  • Just registered for @barcampphilly! It’s the morning after our big @filmstarband Philly re-debut, so I’m not sure I’ll be up for presenting. #
  • @BarCampPhilly Registered! I’m excited to learn more this year. I hit a few unconferences this year, but BarCamp remains my favorite. in reply to BarCampPhilly #
  • (I’m thinking of sponsoring @barcampphilly, but I can’t decide if I should do it as me, as my blog, or as my band. Hmm.) #
  • RedLining in Philly – a 1936 map of “desirable” neighborhoods, partially defined by racial composition. http://bit.ly/c7dgXQ #
  • @timjahn I got to meet and hang out w/ @DavidSpinks when he was in Philly (& also at #140conf , and he absolutely “jumps for” everything :) in reply to timjahn #
  • @theoreticalgirl Fascinating! Of course, 1800s Philadelphians probably didn’t move so neighbors wouldn’t complain about their drum sets. ;) in reply to theoreticalgirl #
  • @frankyurban I adore folks who also appreciate dividing their life between visual creativity and musical creativity :) Hope all is well #
  • @onefte In case I haven’t mentioned it previously, I love your blog. It’s the closest descriptor of my professional life other than 30 Rock. #
  • @JeanMallia Always happy to meet another local singer/songwriter! Do you ever get to Philly to play? #
  • I think it’s hilarious that fingerless gloves are now sold as “texting gloves” (to be fair, some of said gimmick omit only a thumb/pointer). #
  • @onefte I think no matter how pleasant a corporate life you lead there is always a certain underbelly of ludicrousness that must be exposed. in reply to onefte #
  • @Cecilyk I will totally buy those as a result of your review if it is positive :) in reply to Cecilyk #
  • @therealdesh While that might work out I have my doubts that I’d be able to unlock my Android that way. in reply to therealdesh #

  • In purple to show alliance w/LGBT youth & all who support them http://twitpic.com/2za5f5 Let’s end anti-LGBT bullying now&forever #SpiritDay #
  • @kerrysmiles @angelashelton Indeed, bullying should be an outdated concept at this point in our culture – no one should endorse/permit it in reply to kerrysmiles #
  • @MelGreiner Ooo, feel free to brainstorm over the cube wall ;) in reply to MelGreiner #
  • It’s rare that I agree unequivocally w/Savage Love, but restricting civil rights = hate, no matter how polite you are. http://bit.ly/ar5u4B #
  • @amanda_nan Re-read in Peter-vision: person who sounds like crap and person who can barely sing at all, wonder if they sound good together? in reply to amanda_nan #
  • ♥ RT @amanda_nan: @krisis & @not_pele had the same thought in different tweets to me. I hope I share a brain like that with my SO one day. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • How do I not have “Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)” on my iPod? #ObsessiveCollectorFail ♫ http://blip.fm/~xnes9 #
  • @bigredtim I read as a show of support that people aren’t alone & I hope a promise from purple-peeps to stamp out bullying where they see it in reply to bigredtim #
  • @bigredtim I seen a few tweets/status-updates from younger friends saying the majority of their classes/schools wore purple; totally awesome in reply to bigredtim #
  • Touring the impending Branded Sound @ Stage 6 studio/venue, under hard-core construction a block from NE chickie’s & pete’s. HUGE in scope. #
  • @slboval I’d love to hear more about @urbcollective! I’m a product of Philly public schools as well as an actively gigging musician. in reply to slboval #
  • Last night on the ride home from @filmstarband rehearsal I swore I was going to call someone about something today… that’s all I remember. #
  • Jonathan Demme, ScarJo, Tilda, & Bradley Cooper some of the big names surrounding Pride, Prejudice, & Zombies flick: http://bit.ly/aIoYjI #
  • @stellargirl In what capacity? Like, music directing a choir/band for a show? Or, directing selection/booking of acts? Either way, can help. in reply to stellargirl #
  • @stellargirl (which is to say, in some of those capacities @not_pele or I are suitable but even if we aren’t we surely know someone who is!) in reply to stellargirl #
  • I am completely passable at playing fretless bass! I think we are approaching being able to call me an actual bass-player. #
  • Voice is pretty shredded after a brief-but-intense drum rehearsal with @arcati81 and @filmstarband‘s Zina. Some video clips to come… #
  • Thoughtful article on safety contradiction in NFL http://bit.ly/brQVuz “he tries to hurt opposing players…although he doesn’t try to injure” #
  • GOP candidate Broden says violent revolution a possibility if election is lost to a “destructive” gov’t: http://bit.ly/9yICgL via @kenlowery #
  • Nice to see that after 2yrs out of power folks think terrorist threats are appropriate to end the tyrannical reign we’re under [/srcsm]. #
  • Much love to @TheKeyXPN blog for sponsoring my date w/@not_pele to see Phoenix tomorrow! Next step: studio session for one of our bands ;) #
  • An interview w/ @ericsmithrocks by @technicallyphl, discussing his book, self-publishing, being a geek, & more: http://bit.ly/9MMcq0 #
  • Nolan Batman fans may have a hard time imagining Bruce nabbing a crook & saying “Quiet or papa spank!”…but it happened http://bit.ly/cQRf6f #
  • Apparently early Batman had a bit of a spanking fetish, which fits in w/early Wonder Woman comics’ undercurrent of bondage fantasy. #DCBDSM #
  • Today’s Amazon deal is $70 for *4* seasons of Supernatural. Hugely underrated show; v. consistent mythology/continuity http://amzn.to/amDZYe #
  • @THEkrismohfanz Recently I’ve been missing chatting with you! I’m working on my comeback to Twitter, which hopefully also means more @’s :) #
  • @marykateruf @melgreiner @melissa_shae Experienced PR Pro Needed for @FCKH8. 1wk freelance, start 10/25. Send CV, samples to Luke@FCKH8.com #
  • Let’s try to put some value back in #FF eh? Yes, we want you to follow our most beloved tweeters, but why? Allow me to present an example… #
  • #FF @THEkrismohfanz: Philly pro choreographer who dances w/big pop names actually engages in convo w/me every week (& listens to my tunes!) in reply to THEkrismohfanz #
  • @JettSuperior @jedsinger Dizzying to see you mentioned in the same tweet by someone ELSE. I think NASA can see my worlds colliding up there. #
  • @drawonthewalls Has @septa ever actually advertised itself as quicker than walking? In most points in Center City that is an utter lie. in reply to drawonthewalls #
  • Sweeney Todd is a fairly horrific musical (& I’m talking about the songs, not the vibe), but this is a rather excellent production @ temple #
  • @philly_bits Then you might enjoy the one up at Temple right now, which @not_pele compared favorably to the Arden production. in reply to philly_bits #
  • Editing rehearsal video all morning. Now off to see another recording studio w/ @filmstarband. Then some solo rehearsal, & Phoenix concert! #
  • @arcati81 I know we deduct points for bands that play flying v guitars, but what about basses? #
  • @adrianacasey I’m a fan of midnight grocery shopping on a Saturday. At least in college it would’ve been so I could go drunk. Now? No lines. in reply to adrianacasey #
  • My adoration of Jenny Lewis remains untarnished, but Jenny & Johnny is no Rilo Kiley. (Still one of the best live female rock vocalists.) #
  • @jacmmkay RK show I saw near end of the Blacklight tour was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. I regret not following to the next city in reply to jacmmkay #
  • @jacmmkay since they’ve already come back once from a break for side projects I have hope we’ll see them again. Blacklight = instant classic in reply to jacmmkay #
  • I think the reason @not_pele and I are both musicians is that we love music but don’t especially enjoy being part of an audience. #
  • We bagged the rest of Phoenix show: the low end was unbearably loud and distorted. Not only sounds bad, but we were physically uncomfortable #
  • Alright, I claimed today would be all writing and/or recording. Let’s see if I can hold up my promise. #
  • My expansive music collection now includes both Black Sabbath & Quiet Riot, for which I blame both @arcati81 & @not_pele. Mostly @arcati81. #
  • I’m totally cool with writing a song with odd time signatures. The song just needs to pick one or two and stick with them #
