What I Tweeted, 2010-11-28 Edition

November 28, 2010 by krisis

My tweets of the last week:

  • Write 3000 words or mix 30+ songs… even my fun Sunday hobbies resemble homework. #
  • @platypusjones Whose continuity? Main Secret Invasion book was an utter mess. Civil War is pretty solid. Post-SI, you want Dark Avengers. in reply to platypusjones #
  • @toofeets You are entirely too hilarious. We must make this once-a-month hangout a regularly recurring theme in our lives ;) #
  • It’s a weird sensation to see many of my friends cheering for the Eagles and not care about it. Good to know I’m not the only one boycotting #
  • A studio session from @dresendolls recorded @realdaytrotter would easily be my EP of the year. Please post this one soon, Daytrotter! in reply to realdaytrotter #
  • @toofeets I just keep picturing the five muffcakes that were left and thinking that I could have eaten a third one :) in reply to toofeets #
  • @inflammatorywrt Similarly, people who leave negative reviews for LPs that are all about the artist & not about the song/production quality. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @platypusjones House of M will explain what happened with all of the Mutants. Directly preceding that was the Avengers Disassembled TPB. in reply to platypusjones #
  • @platypusjones I don’t know that they really did any specific lead-up to Secret Invasion, other than having people act weird. in reply to platypusjones #
  • @lunatechie I’m not sure how I’ve been so MIA that I haven’t seen you in months, but clearly I have to get out of the suburbs more often. :) #
  • @LunaTechie Either that or get to second base with a lot of TSA agents ::shudder:: in reply to LunaTechie #
  • @amanda_nan For your listening pleasure: http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/blitzen-trapper-concert/20031391-110844.html #
  • Today seemed like it wouldn’t be so hard, but I don’t know that I stopped moving the entire day. Now a run to pick up raffle for @smcphilly. #
  • Just walked all over creation (well, just a few miles each way, but still) to gather supplies for @ibx healthy raffle baskets for @smcphilly #
  • @melissa_shae @marykateruf FYI RT @smcphilly Who is coming to Happy Hour tomorrow night? Have you registered? http://bit.ly/cJxGdD #
  • Nearing 32k words on my @nanowrimo & I’m only 1/4 through my outline. Oh dear. http://twitpic.com/39apwv #
  • Eek, I had to delete that TwitPic: too many spoilers visibly outlined! That’d be ruinous if I achieve my dream of turning it into a comic :) #
  • @LunaTechie I believe our characters have one more run-in later in the book, along with your deep-voiced lesbian sister cc: @toofeets in reply to LunaTechie #
  • Trying to convince @not_pele we need a 200ft 8-send/4-receive snake so I can record drums downstairs from up here in the attic. A hard sell. #
  • @amanda_nan It would relieve needing to carry recording equipment up and down the stairs, and anyone could record from any room. @not_pele in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @amanda_nan Yes, but once we buy a dining room table there can’t really ever be recording again, unless my plan is enacted. @not_pele in reply to amanda_nan #
  • I’ve regained the lead amongst my @nanowrimo friends although I’m 5k words shy of today’s goal. Still, good to be back on track w/my outline #
  • @gloriabell I’m excited that the Season 8 comic is only two issues from its end so they’ll finally put it out in one big tome for me :) in reply to gloriabell #
  • @lish Last year for X-Mas a source of contention in my band was whetherwe should cover that song. Sadly, bandmate is in the anti-Wham! camp. in reply to lish #
  • @PhillyGG I think the moth gets singed over and over until it can’t fly anymore. La petite mort, et cetera. in reply to PhillyGG #
  • Pixar adds their voice to “It Gets Better” movement http://youtu.be/4a4MR8oI_B8 – awesome for such a widely known/respected company to join. #
  • Not sure if it’s the weather or the impending holiday, but Philly is crazy today. I think a lady just cast a voodoo spell on me on 19th st. #
  • VF shares an awkward moment with Isabella Rossellini as they question her about her web shorts on animal sex (!?!) http://bit.ly/hQQ26e #
  • @Not_Pele @amanda_nan @eedawson There can never be an ice cream maker in our house. It would end badly. And fatly. in reply to Not_Pele #
  • @gloriabell Are we talking WWGBD? Zazzle has some great options, but I’ve rec’d a number of low quality shirts from them in the past. in reply to gloriabell #
  • FYI, you maybe be planning to eat the Jesus of turkeys, but don’t worry – they can be as much as 40% virgin births(!) http://bit.ly/hNoahp #
  • @missrogue That’s awesome! Congrats! Surely any emcee talk from you must involve some singing, no? ;) in reply to missrogue #
  • I know I’m late on this, but it’s crazy and awesome to see bus stop posters for RENT produced in the college theatre where I met @not_pele. #
  • @taxgirl I can’t believe that was you at @smcphilly and I didn’t actually say hi! I’ve been following you forever :) in reply to taxgirl #
  • @AllThingsGwen I’m always thinking, “Do you have a special dog seatbelt that secures them in that position? What if they see a squirrel!” in reply to AllThingsGwen #
  • Getting tons of work done and also having a dance-party w/ @melgreiner, so far consisting of @ladygaga, @paulaabdul, @aceofbase, and A-Ha. #
  • @THEkrismohfanz We listened to “Straight Up” and instead of going to “Cold-hearted” I played “I Need You” – not one of her finer moments. in reply to THEkrismohfanz #
  • I am going to start an @ibx acappella group with @melgreiner; we’re only going to sing songs with “blue” in the title or name of the artist. #
  • Listening to Kanye. Reserving official judgement, but… this is the album the entire world has been raving about? I’ll try again tomorrow. #
  • First Thanksgiving in our new house and IT’S SNOWING! This day is awesome already, and @amanda_nan isn’t even here yet. #
  • @amanda_nan DO NOT FORGET YOUR LAPTOP #
  • @amanda_nan Make sure you have ALL THE IMPLEMENTS to turn it on & charged. I have decided you are making a best of 2010 albums list :) in reply to amanda_nan #
  • I think T-Give morning is going to be my “best of year” music summit for now on. #
  • I know I’m a week behind here, but Big Boi followed by ODB over Creep? I’m all over this Girl Talk album. #
  • I should cover the entire Xiu Xiu album so people can hear it sung by a sufferable self-involved asshole rather than an insufferable one. #
  • Along with @amanda_nan & @not_pele, I just discovered that my guitar calluses are heat resistant up to 140 degrees. #

  • @amanda_nan This is our LG Blu-Ray player: http://amzn.to/euIhSI #
  • Don’t think 1998 Peter would believe that 2010 Peter would spend an hour wailing his lullaby song at the piano, but here I am, in the future #
  • @amanda_nan I didn’t put any Arcati Crisis on it, and only one older LP of me from the first time we went through the collection @bengarvey in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @amanda_nan No, this is an OLDIE, older than that one. Song #39 The one you’re thinking of is “Other Plans,” you have it on “Constellation” in reply to amanda_nan #
  • Took a wee break from @NaNoWriMo to work on finishing the mixdown of our August @miekapauley house concert. Free live album, soonish! #
  • The fam has been shipped to NJ for the day so I can write 10,000 more words of my @nanowrimo book, and maybe record my @ericsmithrocks songs #
  • Halp! How can my limited-omniscient narration describe people of color my white main character meets w/o sounding weirdly racist? Examples? #
  • And, I mean any color; I’m actually doing okay w/ African-American descriptions, but talking about Asian characters I sound like my grandmom #
  • @anniemal I’d prefer if you didn’t die. Ideally. in reply to anniemal #
  • Okay, updating my word count every 250 words is going to begin to introduce some lag into the @NaNoWriMo writing process. Must press onward. #
  • All of characters now have last names & I’ve intro’d all but 1 of the top-billed members of the cast. Almost done the 1st 1/3 of the book. #
  • @chiah Olive was an early instinct, but i thought that would suggest Mediterranean? (My Asian wife was of no assistance with this issue.) in reply to chiah #
  • @NealWiser A novel for National Novel Writing Month, although I’m increasingly getting the impression it’s meant to be serialized. in reply to NealWiser #
  • More illegal search & seizure! RT @MichelFortin Homeland Security Seizes 70+ Websites for Copyright/Trademark Violations http://ff.im/-ur55m #
  • The Tea Party isn’t seated in Congress yet & already our government has completely forgotten the Constitution. Mm, a Police State for X-Mas. #
  • @chiah Thanks for validating my use of Olive”:) It’s been a long time since I’ve had to describe fictional characters, my fingers are rusty. in reply to chiah #
  • @brianalynch How goes the NaNoing? in reply to brianalynch #
  • @anniemal We abstained from the garter/bouquet at our wedding. Hilariously, the only time we ever did it we bought caught them. @AmyZQuinn in reply to anniemal #
  • I just broke 40,000 words on my @nanowrimo book! Woot! It’s weighing in at about 190 paperback-sized pages with some heavy action coming up #
  • In other news, I may be a bit drunk from consuming @not_pele‘s tequila cranberry tart – the ONLY way I will consent to imbibing tequila. #
  • @gloriabell Thanks! I’ve been slaving over it all day. I’d like to break for some music, but maybe another 1000 words first? in reply to gloriabell #
  • I don’t know how anyone get any amount of writing down before Wikipedia. I’d have to haul out an encyclopedia every other page. #
  • @MOgulnick You can’t help speaking the truth. Many have been persecuted before you, but truth will prevail in the end. in reply to MOgulnick #
  • @amanda_nan Listen to new music. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • OMG there’s already sheet music for the @sarabareilles LP. Good thing this book is almost done ‘cuz there goes the next two weeks of my life #
  • Um, internet Santa Claus, please also bippity bop into existence a Tori Amos full score book & a Cyndi Lauper sheet music anthology. Thanks! #
  • There is sheet music for songs from World of Warcraft. Oh, this modern world. #
  • @Not_Pele Aww, I feel bad that I didn’t go since it was unisex, but I wrote 5000+ words already! in reply to Not_Pele #
  • New song beaming in! 6/8, writing at the piano. Must confirm I’m not sneaking in melodies from the Bareilles record, but it feels like mine. #
  • @bigredtim Sheet music publishing is so fickle, I have to wonder how big the market is. Enough young kids wanting to play it at recitals? in reply to bigredtim #
  • This song is so freaking catchy that I might have to post a video of it right this second. Or, at least record the process of writing it. #
  • @bigredtim I guess based on no data whatsoever i picture MMORPG players as 18-25, since they have more disposable time/income. in reply to bigredtim #
  • @magaIicious I quote that at least bi-weekly. I must have watched it ten times in a row when it first hit the net. in reply to magaIicious #
  • @amanda_nan As you’ve seen, anything I consider a musical necessity completely bypasses all other necessities in my budget, like food. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @redmoonriver Make some! in reply to redmoonriver #

  • @gloriabell What is that a line from? It’s a good one! in reply to gloriabell #
  • @inflammatorywrt Oh, you’re gonna hate mine. But, I did finally get the Newsom. Meanwhile, CD release of Tori’s orchestra show?!?! in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @inflammatorywrt Oh, maybe that’s what it was. I just saw concert CD release on @undented from this yr and assumed it would be the orchestra in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @inflammatorywrt Haven’t listened yet, so there’s a chance she could make it into my top 20 :) in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @inflammatorywrt The arrangements may be interesting enough to somewhat forgive her weird Kate Bush imitation. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @amanda_nan What? Cancelled series are the only way to go. Then you know they aren’t going to go bad on you. @johhnny5 in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @inflammatorywrt Well, then this is a good entry point for me, because the vocals are on the verge of bothering me. Liking it, but SO LONG. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • @amanda_nan Better to die a noble death at peak than depressingly decline, shitting on your fandom (BSG, Lost, probs Supernatural) @johhnny5 in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @inflammatorywrt This is kinda what I picture Tori sounding like when she’s just sitting in her house jamming into her little tape recorder. in reply to inflammatorywrt #
  • If only every day could be like this: eat, sleep, & write all day, chat up folks on Twitter & watch a flick at night. Sleep, shower, repeat. #
  • @ChristopherMalo I’ve been gamely following along with your page count as a good pace to track to. Best of luck with the final three days! #
  • @gloriabell Clearly I haven’t watched it in a long while ;) in reply to gloriabell #
  • @Not_Pele Ditto. Of course, I was up at 4am watching Funny Girl on Netflix, so I have some semblance of an excuse :) in reply to Not_Pele #
  • @amanda_nan I might have to give @rdio a try – they had 8/10 of the first ten new LPs i spot-checked. Would save a lot of time/money. #
  • @amanda_nan Next year I want to make a concerted effort to listen to 10 new ones a month or something so it’s not such a haul in December. in reply to amanda_nan #
  • @JuliaEveHays 9,000 words to go! Working my way through a pivotal scene right now ;) How goes with you? in reply to JuliaEveHays #
  • It’s exhilarating to realize something @ the same moment my protagonist does, even if it screws w/my plotting. That’s what revisions are for #
  • 42k words & I finished Sequence 1 (of 3) in my @nanowrimo. Heart is beating crazily from writing the huge reveal at the end of the section!! #
  • Oh, and I’m at the 200 page mark. So, altogether this was a pretty exciting hour of writing :) #
  • @slboval Thank you! It’s awesome to be left to my own devices for a day & have ambition instead of listlessly checking social networks :) in reply to slboval #
  • @KateFromage Still have to make it down the home stretch in the next 60hrs! Hoping to knock out another 3k words now. in reply to KateFromage #
  • @JuliaEveHays Have you won in the past? I’ve always sorta turned my nose up at it but after @arcati81 convinced me I’ve been having much fun in reply to JuliaEveHays #
  • Held a time-out for a quick weekend recap to my recently returned @not_pele (played her the new song!), but now back to my tome in-progress. #
  • @amanda_nan Tracks 6-9 on the new Turin Brakes. Wowza. I’d give a piece of my anatomy to have written the hook on “Never Stops.” #
  • @KateFromage You sound like one of Glory’s hench-demons. #BuffyFan in reply to KateFromage #
  • Things I researched for that @nanowrimo chapter: large wooden crates, pneumatic lifts, epinephrine pens. The wheels of plot, they be moving. #
  • @JuliaEveHays Do you still want to finish it, even after the month is over? in reply to JuliaEveHays #
  • @JuliaEveHays Yes, I can’t decide if I think what I have so far will get shorter or longer with revision. Definitely did some floundering. in reply to JuliaEveHays #
