Heroes for Hire: Misty Knight, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, & Iron Fist Omnibus Mapping | 14th Annual Tigereyes Most-Wanted Marvel Omnibus Poll

February 18, 2026 by krisis Leave a Comment

Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 2026 - Heroes for Hire Omnibus Mapping - Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) #6Once every year, thousands of Marvel collectors from around the world gather together online to watch Near Mint Condition and vote on their most-wanted omnibus titles. That time approaches – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 14th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Heroes For Hire omnibus map – including Misty Knight, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, & Iron Fist omnibus maps – for material that has not yet been collected comprehensively in omnibus, all of which will appear as options on the 2026 poll.

As one of the organizers of the poll, I work closely with Tigereyes and a team of Mapping Minties to be sure Marvel’s entire publishing history has been mapped, with every issue fitting somewhere into an omnibus volume to fill your oversize Marvel shelf. Then, we’ll kick off the poll on Near Mint Condition on March 22, 2026.

Read this post and others in the series for a list of titles and omnibus mappings created by a group of the biggest collected edition enthusiasts on the internet. Every map is informed by Crushing Krisis comic guides and over a decade of polling data as explained by yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet. That includes my Guide to Iron Fist, Guide to Luke Cage – Power Man, Guide to Heroes for Hire, and Guide to Jessica Jones!

Even if you don’t own a single omnibus, you can use this post to learn about Marvel’s history of material and find great comics to read physically or digitally!

This post covers the following speculated omnibus volumes:

  •  Solo Iron Fist in Omnibus Mapping
    • Iron Fist: The Return of Danny Rand (1991 & on) [AKA Vol. 2, fits before Immortal omni]
  • Solo Luke Cage in Omnibus Mapping
    • Luke Cage: Cage – Second Chances (1992 – 1993)
  • Luke Cage & Iron Fist in Omnibus Mapping
    • Power Man & Iron Fist Vol. 1 (1977 – 1983)
    • Heroes for Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, & Misty Knight (1997 – 2012) [AKA by Ostrander, Abnett/Lanning & Wells]
    • Luke Cage & Iron Fist: The Modern Years (2010 & on) [00s minis, Walker’s PM&IF, digital series, etc]
  • Jessica Jones in Omnibus Mapping
    • Jessica Jones & the Defenders of NYC by Bendis (2004 – 2018) [AKA Alias Vol. 2, includes Pulse, JJ (2016), & Defenders (2017)]
    • Jessica Jones by Kelly Thompson & Gail Simone (2018 & on) [includes Sentry (2023)]
  • Misty Knight Omnibus Mapping
    • Daughters of the Dragon: Misty Knight & Colleen Wing (1972 & on)

Remember: These titles and mappings are a suggestion of how Marvel could assemble these books. They are meant to make the books easy to find and to vote for. Your vote on the poll is a vote in favor of Marvel creating a book with that title or covering that period, NOT an endorsement of a specific mapping. Maps are presented as a proof of concept and to help you build your personal reading list.

Want to check out all of the other voting options for the 2026 Tigereyes Poll? Check out my 2026 Tigereyes poll overview page that explains the poll, how to vote, and lists every title that will appear – including links to all of the posts in this series.

In depth posts like this one are made possible via the support of Patrons of Crushing Krisis. For less than the cost of a single comic issue a month you can fuel some of the most thoroughly-researched guides to comics on the internet, plus gain access to dozens of exclusive collecting guides & reading orders – including all of the Crushing Comics Guide to Marvel Comics.

Iron Fist Omnibus Mapping: Solo Iron Fist

See my Guide to Iron Fist for the complete details of his history of appearances, including his two omnibuses – Iron Fist: Danny Rand – The Early Years and Immortal Iron Fist & the Immortal Weapons (which swallowed another existing omnibus entirely).

Iron Fist: Danny Rand – The Early Years fits here, as would a pair of Power Man & Iron Fist classic omnibuses, discussed below. A Heroes for Hire omnibus, also discussed below, would contain material that occurs both during and after this book.

Iron Fist (2004) #1Iron Fist: The Return of Danny Rand (1991 & on) [AKA Vol. 2, fits before Immortal omni]

This book would collect all of Danny Rand’s solo material from his early-90s return up through the start of Immortal Iron Fist (2006). That’s inclusive of a pair of existing trade paperbacks, Iron Fist: The Book of Changes and Iron Fist: The Return of K’un Lun, with more material added for context.

A vote for this book would complete our solo Iron First coverage from his debut through 2010, so you could have a perfect trio of solo Iron Fist books on your shelf!

First, this would collect Iron Fist’s return in the pages of Namor The Sub-Mariner (1990) #16 & 22-24 (and maybe also a stop to see his old friend Luke in Cage (1992) #9-12 (& 13?)).

Then, it would include the contents of Iron Fist’s early post-return material originally collected as Iron Fist: The Book of Changes from Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #111, 113-118, & 125-132, Namor The Sub-Mariner (1990) Annual 3, Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #133-137, Spider-Man (1990) #41-43, and Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #140-141.

It would then add Daredevil (1964) #329 as linking material and Iron Fist’s modern origin retelling from Uncanny Origins (1996) #14 (though that could be mapped either to the start or the end of the volume).

Finally, it would collect the contents of Iron Fist: The Return of K’un Lun, which includes Iron Fist (1996) #1-2, Iron Fist (1998) #1-3, Iron Fist / Wolverine (2000) #1-4, and Iron Fist (2004) #1-6. With that, it would incorporate Black Panther (1998) #16 & 38-40 and material from Marvel Knights Double Shot (2002) #4.

The next solo Iron Fist book after this would be Immortal Iron Fist & the Immortal Weapons Omnibus. A Heroes for Hire omnibus, discussed below would contain material that occurs both during and after this book.

Luke Cage Omnibus Mapping: Solo Luke Cage

Luke Cage has been a Marvel mainstay for over 50 years now, but he only really needs a pair of omnibuses to cover all of his significant solo material – and one of them already exists in the form of the Luke Cage [Power Man] omnibus from 2022! See Guide to Luke Cage – Power Man for more details.

The Luke Cage [Power Man] omnibus would be the first book on this shelf, followed by a pair of potential Power Man & Iron Fist omnis, which are described below.

Luke Cage: Cage – Second Chances (1992 – 1993)

Cage_1992_0001After the cancellation of Power Man & Iron Fist (1978), Luke Cage spent a few years in comic book limbo.

No, not capital-L Limbo, the hell dimension! He simply didn’t appear in anything for six years from 1986 to 1992 except for Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #82 and as an implied deep background player in Infinity Gauntlet. That’s it!

Marvel brought Luke Cage back to the limelight with a solo series simply titled “Cage” in 1992. I was buying floppies while this was coming and I don’t recall seeing it on the stands at all. Written entirely by Marc McLaurin, it made very little noise aside from launching with Dwayne Turner on pencils and having a direct crossover called “For Love Nor Money” with the similarly low-selling Silver Sable & The Wild Pack (1992) and Terror Inc. (1992).

After surviving not quite two years, the series was cancelled and Luke Cage fell back into lower-case limbo, making just a handful of appearances afterward before being re-teamed with Iron Fist in Heroes for Hire (1997).

This is a 36 issue book, and the solo Iron Fist book is a about 40 issues, with a 4 issue overlap with this one that makes it 36 issues. That means together they are 72 issues… just a touch too big to consider mashing together as “Power Man & Iron Fist Vol. 3.”

However… if we shaved off the final 18 issues of Iron Fist, it would all fit in one book, and we could take those 18 issues into Heroes for Hire omnibus and just call that “Power Man & Iron Fist Vol. 4: Heroes for Hire.” Does that make a better mapping overall? I’m not sure… it feels like we’d be assuming a whole lot of wiggly omni mapping math unlike anything we’ve seen Marvel do before. But, it might make this somewhat marginal material more sellable/

A vote for this book (as we’ve mapped it here) is a vote to comprehensively collect the entirety of Luke Cage’s 90s series and all of its surrounding appearances into oversize hardcover.

This would collect Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #82 (4th story); Cage (1992) #1-20; “For Love Nor Money” crossover (Terror Inc. (1992) #11-12; Silver Sable & The Wild Pack #13-14); Punisher (1987) #60-62; Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1989) #36; Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #131-136, Secret Defenders (1993) #15-17, Spider-Man Unlimited (1993) #6 (2nd story), and Thunderstrike (1993) #13-14.

It does not makes sense to collect Cage MAX (2002) #1-5 here, since it is wildly different in tone and occurs after Heroes for Hire (1997) and Alias (2001)

After this book, Luke Cage is next in a potential Heroes for Hire omnibus (below), the Alias Omnibus, then through three volumes of New Avengers by Brian Bendis before finally going solo (and duo) again in an omnibus I explain below.

Power Man & Iron Fist Omnibus Mapping

I’ve now mentioned these books multiple times above, so let’s dig in to the team-ups between Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which are covered on both of their solo guides in the Guide to Iron Fist and Guide to Luke Cage – Power Man, but also in the Guide to Heroes for Hire.

The existing Luke Cage [Power Man] Omnibus and Iron Fist: The Early Years Omnibus both fit before this book, which takes over its title and numbering from Luke Cage’s ongoing series.

Power Man & Iron Fist Vol. 1 (1977 – 1983)

Power Man & Iron Fist (1978) #50This isn’t the height of Marvel’s Bronze Age comics, but it is a fun read.  Power Man and Iron Fist were each mildly enjoyable on their own, but together they had an alchemy that lead to a massive 75 issue run that lasted right to the last breaths of the Bronze Age.

In a way, this book was Marvel’s “odd couple” pairing that answered DC’s combinations of the early 70s like Green Lantern/Green Arrow. The difference is that Marvel had laid much more groundwork for Luke Cage as an urban “hero for hire” – and, of course, the combination of a Blaxploitation hero and a Kung Fu hero was a lot more potent and of-the-moment than anything DC had on offer at the time.

A vote for this would be a vote to largely duplicate the existing Epic Collection Line mapping, adding in more starring issues of Marvel Team-Up (1972) and a starring guest-turn in Dazzler.

Volume 1 would collect (1974) Power Man (1974) #48-49 (which was already co-starring Iron Fist, but the indicia had not yet changed); Power Man and Iron Fist (1978) #50-72 & 74-85 (but not issue #73, because of an appearance by ROM); Spider Man / Storm / Power Man – The Anti-Drug Comic (1982); Marvel Team-Up (1972) #75, 105, & Annual 3-4; Daredevil (1972) #178; Dazzler (1981) #21 & 23-24

Volume 2 would then collect Power Man and Iron Fist (1978) #86-125; Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #94, and Marvel Team-Up (1972) #126 (B-story).

After a pair of Power Man & Iron Fist volumes, we’d next hit the two 90s solo books for Luke Cage and Iron Fist as described above before arriving at the next book. Also, if you follow Misty Knight, she could also do with a complete omnibus, listed below.

Heroes for Hire (1997 – 2012) [AKA by Ostrander, Abnett/Lanning & Wells, includes Daughters of the Dragon]

Black Cat in Heroes For Hire (2006) #6This book represents our trend towards simplifying titles and maps on the poll to be more inclusive, instead of insisting on the exact bespoke maps we think would be best.

This book covers three distinct Heroes for Hire runs – an initial late-90s run by John Ostrander that reunited Power Man & Iron Fist, a mid-00s run by several writers with a focus on Misty Knight (beginning with a Daughters of the Dragon (2006) series that lead directly into Heroes for Hire (2006), and a pre-Marvel Now refresh from Abnett & Lanning that kept the focus on Misty as the team’s dispatcher.

Could they all fit into one book? It would be tight! The first run is a solid 24 issues, which we’ve already had in two trades weighing in at 672 pages. Then, together both sets of Misty Knight material is 48 issues.

Together that’s just too big for one omnibus! Except… five issues in that omnibus are really a duo Power Man & Iron Fist series that could move into the next omni on this list. So, it could happen!

A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of the Heroes for Hire teams under a single cover… or, at least, to get started with one of the halves of this material!

This would collect the Luke Cage & Iron Fist reunion team from Spider-Man Unlimited (1993) #13, Marvel Fanfare (1996) #6, Heroes for Hire (1997) #1-19 & Heroes For Hire/Quicksilver Annual 1998, and Quicksilver (1997) #11-12.

Then, it would collect the Misty Knight anchored team from Daughters of the Dragon (2006) #1-6 (and material from Daughters of the Dragon: Deadly Hands Special (2005) #1, primarily a reprint issue), Heroes for Hire (2006) #1-15; Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow (2010) #1-3; Heroes For Hire (2010) #1-12; Spider-Island: Heroes For Hire (2011) #1; and Villains For Hire (2011) #.1 & 1-4.

To that, it could potentially add Power Man and Iron Fist (2010) #1-5.

Immortal Iron Fist & the Immortal Weapons happens during and after some Iron Fist appearances in Misty’s Heroes for Hire. Meanwhile, Luke is busy throughout this period anchoring the New Avengers.

Luke Cage & Iron Fist: The Modern Years (2010 & on) [solo & duo series – Walker’s PM&IF, Legacy solos, digital series, etc]

Power Man & Iron Fist (2016) #2This was one of the most-complained-about books from last year’s poll, and it’s back baby!

That’s not because your team of Mapping Minties are a bunch of stubborn assholes. It’s because there’s really no better way to handle this material, either paired or separately. That’s because even when one of this pair of characters has a solo series, it’s still very likely the other one is making a guest appearance in it to make it a de-facto duo book.

Don’t believe me? Let’s try to map this separately, shall we?

We could have an Iron Fist book, which would contain the following: Power Man and Iron Fist (2011) #1-5; Iron Fist: The Living Weapon (2014) #1-12; Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) #1-15 & Annual 1 (AKA Power Man and Iron Fist: Sweet Christmas (2016) #1); Immortal Iron Fists (2017) #1-6; Iron Fist (2017) #1-7 & 73-80; Marvel Digital Original: Iron Fist (2018) #1-3; Typhoid Fever: Iron Fist (2018) #1; Contagion (2019) #1-5; Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon (2021) #1-6; Iron Fist (2022) #1-5; Luke Cage: Gang War (2023) #1-4; Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special (2024) #1; The Undead Iron Fist (2025) #1-4.

Then, we could have a Luke Cage book, which could contain the following: New Avengers: Luke Cage (2010) #1-3; Daredevil: Cage Match (2010) #1; material from I Am An Avenger (2010) #1; Avengers Origins: Luke Cage (2012) #1; Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) #1-15 & Annual 1 (AKA Power Man and Iron Fist: Sweet Christmas (2016) #1); Luke Cage (2017) #1-5 & 166-170; Marvel Digital Original: Iron Fist (2018) #1-3; Marvel Digital Original: Luke Cage (2018) #1-3; Contagion (2019) #1-5; Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon (2021) #1-6; Luke Cage: Gang War (2023) #1-4.

If we pull out all of their paired material from both books we’d be removing Power Man and Iron Fist (2016), Marvel Digital Original: Iron Fist (2018), Contagion (2019), Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon (2021), and Luke Cage: Gang War (2023). Now we have to sell THREE books, and all three of them have material that are happening simultaneous to each other and are still going to have hints of both characters throughout the solo books.

Maybe Marvel goes that route after accumulating another 4-5yrs of material for each character, but right now treating the material as a single book with Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) as the centerpiece just makes the most sense as a way to channel your votes into a productive place. They are a pair of characters who have always worked best together, so it’s no mistake that their stories bleed into each other all the time.

Want to see them as two different books? You should still vote for this option! At this point in the life of the poll, splintering options to get to vote for your ideal book means no one gets to see that book – not in the Top 60 reveal stream or in sending the Top 20 placements to Marvel for consideration.

This would begin to collect New Avengers: Luke Cage (2010) #1-3; Daredevil: Cage Match (2010) #1; material from I Am An Avenger (2010) #1; Power Man and Iron Fist (2011) #1-5 (this Power Man is NOT Luke Cage); Avengers Origins: Luke Cage (2012) #1; Iron Fist: The Living Weapon (2014) #1-12; Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) #1-15 & Annual 1 (AKA Power Man and Iron Fist: Sweet Christmas (2016) #1); Luke Cage (2017) #1-5 & 166-170; Immortal Iron Fists (2017) #1-6; Iron Fist (2017) #1-7 & 73-80; Marvel Digital Original: Iron Fist (2018) #1-3; Marvel Digital Original: Luke Cage (2018) #1-3; Typhoid Fever: Iron Fist (2018) #1; Contagion (2019) #1-5; Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon (2021) #1-6; Iron Fist (2022) #1-5; Luke Cage: Gang War (2023) #1-4; Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special (2024) #1; The Undead Iron Fist (2025) #1-4.

We have not included any material that stars neither the present day Luke Cage or Danny Rand.

Jessica Jones Omnibus Mapping

Jessica Jones is necessarily part of any conversation about collecting Luke Cage & Iron Fist, because Luke Cage is usually the #2 co-star of every Jessica Jones title! See my Guide to Jessica Jones for a complete review of all of her appearances in reading order. We already have the Alias by Brian Bendis omnibus, but we’d need two more books to completely covers Jessica’s comic appearances following that – including a whole additional omnibus of Bendis!

Jessica Jones & the Defenders of NYC by Bendis (2004 – 2018) [AKA Alias Vol. 2, includes Pulse, JJ (2016), & Defenders (2017)]

This is primarily a Jessica Jones omnibus, but it includes a run where Daredevil is a member of a “Defenders” street-level team mirroring the cast of the Netflix MCU show.

This book focuses on every time Brian Bendis wrote Jessica Jones after the conclusion of Alias (2001). He did that in three series: The Pulse (2004), a Jessica Jones (2016) ongoing, and a short-lived Defenders (2017) title.

A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Bendis’s post-Alias Jessica Jones into a single omnibus!

This would collect three distinct series by Bendis, plus some connective material.

First, The Pulse (2004), starring Jessica Jones (The Pulse (2004) #1-14, New Avengers (2005) Annual 1).

Then, connective material with Jones by Bendis from New Avengers (2005) #22, 38, 47-49, 58-60, & Annual 3, plus Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular (2009) #2 (2nd story).

Then, the pair of Jessica Jones (2016) #1-18 and Defenders (2017) #1-10, which is Bendis’s parting shot on the character.

Jessica Jones by Kelly Thompson & Gail Simone (2018 & on) [includes Sentry (2023)]

Jessica Jones has never had a single lengthy ongoing run in the wake of Brian Bendis ceding his 15 year lock on writing her character. However, she has had several brief series that together add up to an omnibus-sized amount of material, similar to the recent Sentry omnibus collecting 20 years worth of mini-series

A vote for this book is a vote to gather Jessica’s modern material into one place, including the first times she has been written by women! And, you better vote for it… because if you don’t we might simply collapse this book into the prior volume for next year and call it “The Modern Years”!

This would collect Jessica Jones – Marvel Digital Original (2018) #1-3 (AKA Jessica Jones: Blind Spot (2020) #1-6); Jessica Jones – Marvel Digital Original: Purple Daughter (2019) #1-3; material from Fearless (2019) #1 & 3;Women of Marvel (2022) #1 (5th story); The Variants (2022) #1-5; back-up stories from Contest of Chaos Annuals crossover (Spider-Man (2023) Annual 1, Iron Man (2023) Annual 1, Fantastic Four (2022) Annual 1/2023, Moon Knight (2021) Annual 1(2023), Spider-Gwen (2023) Annual 1, Venom (2021) Annual 1, X-Men (2021) Annual 1, and all of Avengers (2023) Annual 1); The Sentry (2023) #1-4 (where Jessica Jones is the protagonist); and material from Women of Marvel (2024) #1.

Misty Knight Omnibus Mapping

Alas, I don’t have a guide to Misty Knight or to Colleen Wing, but I do have a Guide to Heroes for Hire! I’d love to do a Misty guide… do you think I should have one?

Daughters of the Dragon: Misty Knight & Colleen Wing (1972 & on)

The Misty Knight material of this book, skipping portions of long runs that would be collected elsewhere, could include Marvel Team-Up (1972) #1, Deadly Hands of Kung Fu (1974) #31-32, 33 (2nd story), Marvel Premiere (1972) #21, Marvel Team-Up (1972) #63-64, Power Man (1974) #48-49, Classic X-Men (1986) #13 (2nd story), Marvel Team-Up (1972) #105 (2nd story), Bizarre Adventures (1981) #25 (3rd story), Marvel Team-Up (1972) Annual 4, Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #42 (4th story) & 80 (3rd story), Deathlok (1991) #2-3, Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #133-136 (2nd stories) & 149 (3rd story), Daughters of the Dragon (2006) #1-6, Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow (2010) #1-3, Fearless Defenders (2013) #1-12, Black Panther and the Crew (2017) #1-6, Daredevil Annual (2018) #1, Daughters of the Dragon: Marvel Digital Original Digital Comic (2018) #1-3.

To that, we could add a handful of stories where Colleen Wing appears without Misty – I promise I’ll map them specifically next year if you can launch this book into the top half of the poll (it just missed last year).
