And, so, i almost kissed someone who i very much wanted to kiss tonite. But, i wasn’t trying. And maybe it wasn’t almost… maybe i just have rewritten the whole episode inside my delusional brain. Or maybe… i don’t know. I can’t just be friends with her…

After that the night just got rather random. Elise and I spoke to Ariel briefly after the show, and he told us to meet him at the cast party at 4am, when they’d be done striking the set. Which left us with about four hours to kill. First we attended a drunken dorm room bash where i was aghast at the amount of making-out that was occurring until i was informed that all the couples were really couples. After that there was some french homework, a discussion of the history of theatre, Festivus ice cream, and a guy from my senior prom table. Eventually we did wind up at the cast party, where i was so tired i could barely keep up my facial communication skills, let alone my verbal ones. Ariel arrived, we chatted with him, and then left. Elise and i parted ways at her apartment (after i thanked her for baby-sitting me through a night at Penn) and i walked home, occasionally pretending i could fly.

Last night was an enjoyable lark … i didn’t get back to the apartment until nearly 4am. It’s always nice to prove to myself that i can head out to party with some friends without drinking and still have as much or more fun than they’re having. In the midst of all this i managed to get some flirting in (more on that later), watch about 10 consecutive keg-stands (don’t ask), and keep vigil over several less-sober parties in varying degrees of self-destruction. As with all good parties there were some sing-a-longs, one freshman who vomited, and a totally shocking hook-up. And i wasn’t involved in any of the three!

Parties are odd for me. I cannot stay in one place or with one person; i migrate. This just contributes to the sense i have that i don’t have many very good friends who know me very well. I just can’t imagine how i would manage to sit down and pay attention to a single person for a whole night; what if there were to be someone more interesting in the next room? That’s my problem, of course, i’m always floating looking for the more interesting person, and by not making a choice i alienate myself from everyone. But, is there anyone worth sticking to? We’ll see…

Well, that was quite the interesting night out… no elaborations as of right now, but rest assured that i didn’t intend to be back quite so soon. Basically, one of my companions who never feels the effects of what he is drinking suddenly got past that boundary tonight. So, you can imagine i’m a bit concerned. I mean, i’m sure he’ll wind up fine, but tonight will not go down in history of one of his favourites. And, for the record, all i drank was water.
