It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Marvel Omnibus fans – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Marvel Solo Hero omnibus that does NOT exist from H to M (that we haven’t mentioned yet) – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.
For the next two weeks, I’ll be covering Marvel’s entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your Marvel oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot on Near Mint Condition on April 28, 2025.
This is the first of three solo hero posts covering heroes with four or fewer omnibuses of material to collect, including Hawkeye (Clint Barton & Kate Bishop), Hellcat – Patsy Walker, Hercules, Howard the Duck, Iron Fist, Jack of Hearts, Jessica Jones, Ka-Zar, Kang The Conqueror, Killraven, Kingpin – Wilson Fisk, Luke Cage, Machine Man, Man-Wolf, Miracleman, Mockingbird, Monica Rambeau – Spectrum, Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur, Moon Knight, & Ms. Marvel.
Note that the following heroes already have their own posts: Ghost Rider & The Midnight Sons (includes Man-Thing & Morbius, Hulk, Iron Man (includes Ironheart), Thor & Asgard (includes Jane Foster), and X-Men solo characters.
If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for a list of books vetted by a gang of the biggest mapping nerds on the internet with explanations from yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.

Remember: These titles and mappings are a suggestion of how Marvel could assemble these books. They are meant to help you decide on your votes on the Tigereyes poll. Your vote on the poll is a vote in favor of Marvel creating a book with that title or covering that period, NOT an endorsement of a specific map. Maps are presented as a proof of concept and to help you build your personal reading list.

Marvel Solo Heroes: Hawkeye Omnibus Mapping
We have just one Hawkeye omnibus with Hawkeye by Matt Fraction, but we could totally cover both Clint Barton and Kate Bishop with four additional books. See Guide to Hawkeye for full coverage of their material.
Hawkeye & The Solo Avengers (1964 – 1990) [includes Solo Avengers & Avengers Spotlight]
Last year I tried to over-engineer a perfected-mapped line of Hawkeye volumes with witty titles for the poll, and they were mostly rejected by voters.
I learned my lesson – this is a titles poll, not a mapping poll. People scroll down the list of options looking for the runs they’ve alway wanted in oversize format, not a catchy title.
That’s why I’ve consulted with the Mapping Minties to significantly reconfigure this Hawkeye omnibus into something more obvious. It’s effectively the contents of his initial three Epic Collections, minus all of the double-dipping of issues of Avengers (1963). Then, it would continue with his 1983 mini-series, as well as all forty issues of Solo Avengers (1987) #1-20 and Avengers Spotlight (1989) #21-40 – almost all of which included at least one Hawkeye story. It could also include some other random solo Avengers adventures from Marvel Comics Presents that would otherwise be abandoned, and even mini-series like Jack of Hearts (1984).
A vote for this book is mostly a vote to collect all of Hawkeye’s solo material from the Bronze Age and 80s and all of Solo Avengers (1987) and Avengers Spotlight (1989) in oversize format.
This would effectively collect the first three Hawkeye collections less most of the Silver and Bronze Age Avengers issues collected in the first volume, and adding some other solo Avengers errata from the 1980s.
In total, that means it would include material from Tales of Suspense (1959) #57, 60, & 64, Avengers (1963) #16, Marvel Tales (1964) #100, Marvel Super Action (1976) #1, Hawkeye (1983) #1-4, Captain America (1968) #317, Marvel Fanfare (1982) #3 & 39, Jack of Hearts (1984) #1-4, Solo Avengers (1987) #1-20, Avengers Spotlight (1989) #22-40, material from Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #83, and other solo Avengers material from Marvel Fanfare (1982), Marvel Comics Presents (1988), and Marvel Super-Heroes (1990) that would not otherwise be collected in hero or team omnibuses.
Hawkeye: Clint Barton – The Return of Hawkeye & Mockingbird (1994 – 2011)
This would contain Hawkeye’s material starting after Mockingbird’s death and his departure from the Avengers, through his mid-00s death, and to both of their returns and reunions, lining this up perfectly with the Hawkeye by Matt Fraction omnibus on the other side.
This would collect Hawkeye (1994) #1-4; Marvel Comics Presents (1998) #159-161 (Clint’s stories only); Hawkeye: Earth’s Mightiest Marksman (1998) #1; Hawkeye (2003) #1-8; Avengers (1998) #502; The Pulse (2004) #10; New Avengers (2004) #26 & 30; Young Avengers Presents (2008) #6 (in the Fraction omni, but occurs here); New Avengers: The Reunion (2009) #1-4; Hawkeye & Mockingbird (2010) #1-6; Widowmaker (2010) #1-4; Hawkeye: Blindspot (2011) #1-4; his appearance in Avengers: Solo (2011) #1-5 (A-Stories), Captain America & Hawkeye (2012) #629-632; Hawkeye & Mockingbird Sketchbook (2010) #1; and material from Dark Reign: New Nation (2008) #1 and Enter the Heroic Age (2010) #1.
Hawkeye: Kate Bishop (2005 – 2018) [includes Lemire & Thompson, West Coast]
It doesn’t make sense to begin this with any material from Young Avengers or Hawkeye (2011), since Kate is in almost every issue and they’ve all been collected in omnibus before. However, we left the dates wide so you can assume it would collect some of her key stories, if you want.
This would collect three brief series that starred both Hawkeyes (Hawkeye vs. Deadpool (2014) #0-4, All-New Hawkeye (2015A) #1-5, & All-New Hawkeye (2015B) #1-6), Hawkeye (2016) #1-16, Generations: Hawkeye & Hawkeye (2017) #1, and Kate’s team book West Coast Avengers (2018) #1-10. It could continue to Hawkeye: Kate Bishop (2021) #1-5.
Hawkeye: Clint Barton – All-New, All-Different (2015 & on) [follows Fraction; includes Lemire, Occupy Avengers, etc]
This would pick up the short-lived Hawkeye vehicle Occupy Avengers (2016) #1-8, as well as all of Clint Barton’s solo material following the Hawkeye by Matt Fraction omnibus.
A vote for this book is a vote for all of Hawkeye from 2015 to present day in a single oversize volume, which helps to plug a minor gap of Avengers that just doesn’t fit anywhere else!
This would collect all of Clint Barton’s post-Fraction material, which would include the short-lived Occupy Avengers (2018) #1-8.
This would collect Hawkeye vs. Deadpool (2014) #0-4, All-New Hawkeye (2015A) #1-5, All-New Hawkeye (2015B) #1-6, Occupy Avengers (2016) #1-8, Hawkeye (2016) #13-16 (which is Kate’s title, but Clint co-stars in this arc), Generations: Hawkeye & Hawkeye (2017) #1, Tales of Suspense (2017) #100-104 (a Client + Bucky team-up), Hawkeye: Freefall (2020) #1-5, Avengers (2018) #60, Black Widow & Hawkeye (2024) #1-4, and on.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Hellcat Omnibus Mapping
Hellcat – Patsy Walker Vol. 1 (1975 & on)
This would begin to collect Avengers (1963) #144 & 147-149, Defenders (1972) #44-45, 61, 65, 85-87, 94-101, 111, 116, 122, 125, & 148 (and material from #89-91 & 107-109), West Coast Avengers (1985) #14-16, Solo Avengers (1987) #9 (2nd story), Marvel Super-Heroes (1990) #1 (3rd story), Marvel Fanfare (1982) #59 (2nd story), Hellstorm: Prince of Lies (1993) #3, Thunderbolts (1997) Annual 2000 (1st story) & Avengers (1998) Annual 2000 (1st story), Hellcat (2000) #1-3, Marvel Comics Presents (2007) #1-4, Patsy Walker: Hellcat (2008) #1-5, Models Inc. (2009) #1-4, Marvel Divas (2009) #1-4, Marvel Holiday Special (1991) 2010, and Heralds (2010) #1-5.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Hercules Omnibus Mapping
See my Guide to Hercules for explanations of all of the material below.
Hercules: The Early Years (1965 – 1982) [Silver & Bronze Age appearances]
Of course, this would start with Journey Into Mystery (1952) Annual 1 & #124-125 and Thor (1966) #126 & 128-130! It would also likely collect most of his period of moving in with and initially joining the Avengers in Avengers (1963) #38-44, Annual 1 & 45-50, an Olympus-focused story in Avengers (1963) #99-100, and some of the highlights of his time as Thor’s partner (and roommate) in Thor (1966) #221-239.
From there Hercules in in The Champions, who should merit their own omnibus at some point. That would make this one of the slimmer “Early Years” omnibuses, but a satisfying one. However, it could also optionally press forward to the 90s in present day material from the Layton period, since Layton exclusively focused on a future continuity for Hercules.
Hercules: Prince of Power by Bob Layton (1982 – 2010)
This should be sub-titled “Hercules of the 24th Century” for clarity.
This would collect Hercules: Prince of Power (1982) #1-4, Hercules: Prince of Power (1984) #1-4, material from Marvel Tales (1966_ #197, Marvel Graphic Novel (1982) #37 – Hercules, Prince of Power: Full Circle, stories from Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #39-41, and material from Marvel Age (1983) #4 & 65. Plus, a much-later sequel, Hercules: Twilight of a God (2010)#1-4
Incredible Hercules by Greg Pak (2007 – 2011)
This title is an error. It should read: Hercules: Incredible Hercules, The Modern Years Vol. 1 by Greg Pak et al (2005 & on).
This would very likely be two different volumes, but your vote for it could count for either of them. It would either be two volumes of Hercules or a Hercules all inclusive volume that skips Chaos War. Personally, I’d opt for two Hercules volumes, as Chaos War alone doesn’t have much merit without the rest of Hercules run.
This would begin to collect Hercules (2005) #1-5, material from Incredible Hulk (2000) #106-112, Hulk vs. Hercules: When Titans Collide (2008) #1, Incredible Hercules (2008) #113-141, Assault on New Olympus Prologue (2009) #1 (before #138), Hercules: Fall of an Avenger (2010) #1-2, Heroic Age: The New Prince of Power (2010) #1-4, his appearances in Chaos War (Chaos War (2010) #1-5, Chaos War: Chaos King (2011) #1, Chaos War: God Squad (2011) #1, Chaos War: Ares (2011) #1), Wolverine/Hercules: Myths, Monsters & Mutants (2011) #1-4, Herc (2011) #1-10 & 6.1, Hercules (2015) #1-6, Civil War II: Gods of War (2016) #1-4, plus material from Giant-Size Hulk (2006) #1, Amazing Fantasy (2004) #15, and Incredible Hulk (2000) #100 & 620-622.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Howard the Duck Omnibus Mapping
Howard the Duck Vol. 2 (1979 & on) [adds skipped Complete Collection material]
The original Howard the Duck Omnibus was essentially a “Complete Series” omnibus only focused on collecting Howard’s origins and then his original run of Howard the Duck (1976) #1-33 & Annual 1. His later Complete Collection trade paperbacks represented a much fuller set of material.
Generally, Marvel will only expand an existing omnibus if they can really expand it – as they did with adding two hardcovers to the Captain Britain Omnibus or doubling the size of Immortal Iron Fist & the Immortal Weapons by adding half a series they originally skipped.
There’s not really enough Howard material added by the Complete Collections to justify that, so instead this is likely just a second volume that will also collect his modern material through his Howard the Duck by Zdarsky & Quinones Omnibus that begins in 2015.
This would collect strips from Crazy Magazine (1973) #26, 28, 50, 51, 53-54, 59, 63, 65-66, 68, 69, 71-72, 74-75, & 77; material from FOOM (1973) #15; material from Howard the Duck Magazine (1979) #1-9; Marvel Team-Up (1972) #96; Bizarre Adventures [Magazine] (1981) #34 (2nd story); material from What The–?! (1988) #5; Marvel Tales (1966) #237 (2nd story); and Sensational She-Hulk (1989) #14-17.
That brings us to the end of the Complete Collections material. Then, we would continue with 1990s material with a pin-up from Marvel Illustrated: The Swimsuit Issue (1991) #1 [summer 1991]; material from What If…? (1989) #34; Ghost Rider (1990) #81-82; material from Generation X (1994) #20-21, & 23; Howard the Duck Holiday Special (1997) #1; Spider-Man Team-Up (1997) #5 (2nd story); Generation X (1994) #25: Daydreamers (1997) #1-3; Man-Thing (1997) #6 (and material from #5 & 7; Stan Lee Presents Spider-Man Cybercomic (1997) #57-60.
Finally, we reach 2000s material. That includes Howard the Duck (2002) #1-6; Civil War: Choosing Sides (2006) #1 (5th story); Howard the Duck (2007) #1-4; Amazing Spider-Man: Back In Quack (2010) #1; Marvel Zombies 5 (2010) #1-5; Fear Itself: Fearsome Four (2011) #1-4; Marvel Zombies Destroy! (2011) #1-5, an excerpt from Web of Spider-Man (1985) #129.2; and Original Sins (2014) #2 (3rd story).
It would possibly add Howard the Human (2015) #1 and Deadpool the Duck (2017) #1-5, omitted by his modern creator-focused omnibus.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Iron Fist Omnibus Mapping
See my Guide to Iron Fist for the complete details of his history of appearances, including his two omnibuses – Iron Fist: Danny Rand – The Early Years and Immortal Iron Fist & the Immortal Weapons (which swallowed another existing omnibus entirely).
Power Man & Iron Fist Vol. 1 (1977 – 1983)
Power Man & Iron Fist Vol. 2 (1983 – 1986)
This would largely duplicate the existing Epic Collection Line mapping, but add in more starring issues of Marvel Team-Up (1972) and a starring guest-turn in Dazzler.
Volume 1 would collect (1974) Power Man (1974) #48-49 (which was already co-starring Iron Fist, but the indicia had not yet changed); Power Man and Iron Fist (1978) #50-72 & 74-85 (but not issue #73, because of an appearance by ROM); Spider Man / Storm / Power Man – The Anti-Drug Comic (1982); Marvel Team-Up (1972) #75, 105, & Annual 3-4; Daredevil (1972) #178; Dazzler (1981) #21 & 23-24
Volume 2 would collect Power Man and Iron Fist (1978) #86-125; Marvel Two-in-One (1974) #94, and Marvel Team-Up (1972) #126 (B-story).
Iron Fist: The Return of Danny Rand (1991 – 2005)
We significantly re-titled and re-organized this from last year thanks to the suggestions of (I think!) the author of the I Am Iron Fist blog.
Now this collects everything from Danny Rand’s early-90s return up through the start of Immortal Iron Fist (2006) with the exception of Heroes for Hire (1997), collected below, which is inclusive of both Iron Fist: The Book of Changes and Iron Fist: The Return of K’un Lun with more material added for context.
First, this would pick up the Danny’s return in the pages of Namor, The Sub-Mariner (1990) #16 & 22-24 (and maybe also a stop to see his old friend Luke in Cage (1992) #9-12 (& #13?)).
Then, it would include the contents of Iron Fist’s early return material originally collected as Iron Fist: The Book of Changes from Marvel Comics Presents (1988) 111, 113-118, & 125-132, Namor Annual 3, Marvel Comics Presents #133-137, Spider-Man (1990) #41-43, and Marvel Comics Presents #140-141. It would then add Daredevil (1964) #329 and Iron Fist’s modern origin retelling from Uncanny Origins (1996) #14.
Finally, it would collect the contents of Iron Fist: The Return of K’un Lun, which included Iron Fist (1996) #1-2, Iron Fist (1998) #1-3, Iron Fist / Wolverine (2000) #1-4, and Iron Fist (2004) #1-6. To that, it would incorporate Black Panther (1998) 16 & 38-40, and material from Marvel Knights Double Shot (2002) #4.
Heroes for Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, & Misty Knight (1997 – 2012) [AKA by Ostrander, Abnett/Lanning & Wells]
Is this book too big to exist? Eh… we’re right on the verge, and there are a handful of issues that could be easily trimmed to keep this under 1600 pages if necessary.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of the Heroes for Hire teams under a single cover, throwing in some additional Daughters of the Dragon material for good measure.
First, the Luke Cage and Iron Fist material would collect 24 issues: Heroes for Hire (1996) #1-19; material from Spider-Man (1993) Unlimited #13; Marvel Fanfare (1996) #6; Quicksilver (1997) #11-12 (Siege of Wundagore crossover issues); and Heroes For Hire/Quicksilver Annual 1998.
Then, Misty Knight’s material would collect 46 issues: Daughters of the Dragon: Deadly Hands Special (2005) #1, Daughters of the Dragon (2006) #1-6, Heroes for Hire (2006) #1-15; Shadowland: Daughters of the Shadow (2010) #1-3; Power Man and Iron Fist (2010) #1-5; Heroes for Hire (2011) #1-12; Spider-Island: Heroes For Hire (2011) #1; Villains For Hire (2011) #.1 & 1-4.
Luke Cage & Iron Fist: The Modern Years (2010 & on)
This would combine all of Luke Cage & Iron Fist’s material from 2010 to present after the conclusion of The Immortal Iron Fist (2006) into a single omnibus line, which would probably be two volumes.
Even when one of the two of them has a solo series, it’s still very likely the other one is making a guest appearance in it to make it a de-facto duo book.
Want to see them as two different books? You should still vote for this option… but I’m telling you, that’s a bad idea, as they’ll each have to double-dip each other by more than 20 issues!
This would begin to collect New Avengers: Luke Cage (2010) #1-3; Daredevil: Cage Match (2010) #1; material from I Am An Avenger (2010) #1; Power Man and Iron Fist (2011) #1-5 (NOT Luke Cage; Avengers Origins: Luke Cage (2012) #1; Iron Fist: The Living Weapon (2014) #1-12; Power Man and Iron Fist (2016) #1-15 & Annual 1 (AKA Power Man and Iron Fist: Sweet Christmas (2016) #1); Luke Cage (2017) #1-5 & 166-170; Immortal Iron Fists (2017) #1-6; Iron Fist (2017) #1-7 & 73-80; Marvel Digital Original: Iron Fist (2018) #1-3; Marvel Digital Original: Luke Cage (2018) #1-3; Typhoid Fever: Iron Fist (2018) #1; Contagion (2019) #1-5; Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon (2021) #1-6; Iron Fist (2022) #1-5; Luke Cage: Gang War (2023) #1-4; Iron Fist 50th Anniversary Special (2024) #1.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Jessica Jones Omnibus Mapping
Jack of Hearts (1976 – 2011)
Y’all, I tried to kill this poll options for being too small and doing too much double-dipping, but BrandXK brought it back to life with the promise that it would collect all of Cosmic Powers (1994). We now leave its final fate in the hands of our intrepid voters.
This would collect Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu (1974) #22-24, 26 & 29-32; Incredible Hulk (1962) #213-214; Iron Man (1968) #103 & 109-113; Marvel Premiere (1972) #44; Marvel Two-In-One (1974) #48; Marvel Team-Up (1972) #134; Jack of Hearts (1984) #1-4; Quasar (1989) #19-20; Silver Surfer (1987) #76-78; Cosmic Powers (1994) #1-6; Cosmic Powers Unlimited (1995) #3 Avengers (1998) #35, 43, 61-62, 65-69, 73-76; Marvel Zombies Supreme (2011) #1-5; and material from Silver Surfer (1987) Annual 6.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Jessica Jones Omnibus Mapping
See my Guide to Jessica Jones for a complete review of all of her appearances in reading order. We already have the Alias by Brian Bendis omnibus, but we’d need two more books to completely covers Jessica’s comic appearances following that – including a whole additional omnibus of Bendis!
Jessica Jones & the Defenders of NYC by Bendis (2004 – 2018) [includes Pulse & Defenders (2017)]
This is primarily a Jessica Jones omnibus, but it includes a run where she is a member of a “Defenders” street-level team mirroring the cast of the Netflix MCU show.
This book focuses on every time Brian Bendis wrote Jessica Jones after the conclusion of Alias (2001). He did that in three series: The Pulse (2004), a Jessica Jones (2016) ongoing, and a short-lived Defenders (2017) title. See Guide to Jessica Jones for more details.
A vote for this book is a vote to collect all of Bendis’s post-Alias Jessica Jones into a single omnibus!
This would collect three distinct series by Bendis, plus some connective material.
First, The Pulse (2004), starring Jessica Jones from The Pulse (2004) #1-14 and New Avengers (2005) Annual 1.
Then, connective material featuring Jones written by Bendis from New Avengers (2005) #22, 38, 47-49, 58-60, & Annual 3, plus Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular (2009) #2 (2nd story).
Finally, the pair of Jessica Jones (2016) #1-18 and Defenders (2017) #1-10, which were Bendis’s parting shot on the character.
Jessica Jones by Kelly Thompson & Gail Simone (2018 & on)
This book would contain all of Jessica Jones’s post-Bendis material.
This would collect Jessica Jones – Marvel Digital Original (2018) #1-3 (AKA Jessica Jones: Blind Spot (2020) #1-6), Jessica Jones – Marvel Digital Original: Purple Daughter (2019) #1-3, material from Fearless (2019) #1 & 3, Women of Marvel (2022) #1 (5th story), The Variants (2022) #1-5, back-up stories from Contest of Chaos Annuals crossover (Spider-Man (2023) Annual 1, Iron Man (2023) Annual 1, Fantastic Four (2022) Annual 1/2023, Moon Knight (2021) Annual 1(/2023), Spider-Gwen (2023) Annual 1, Venom (2021) Annual 1, X-Men (2021) Annual 1, and all of Avengers (2023) Annual 1), The Sentry (2023) #1-4 (where Jessica Jones is the protagonist), and material from Women of Marvel (2024) #1.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Ka-Zar Omnibus Mapping
Ka-Zar, The Silver Age Omnibus (1965 – 1982) [meets the Ka-Zar the Savage omni]
This would primarily collect X-Men (1963) #10, Daredevil (1964) #12, 14, 16, & 24, Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #57 (all omitted from his MMW line), Marvel Super Heroes (1967) #19, Astonishing Tales (1970) #1-20 (Ka-Zar stories), material from Savage Tales (1971) #1, Ka-Zar (1974) #1-20, Shanna the She-Devil (1972) #1-5, Daredevil (1964) #110-112 (and material from #109), Marvel Two-In-One (1974) #3, material from Savage Tales (1971) #5-11, Uncanny X-Men (1963) #115-116, material from Rampaging Hulk #9, Marvel Fanfare (1982) #1-4, and the Steve Gerber Shanna story from Marvel Fanfare (1982) #56-59 (which fits here in continuity).
To that, it could add a handful of other Silver and Bronze Age guest appearances prior to Ka-Zar the Savage (1981).
Ka-Zar: The Modern Years (1985 – 2022)
This would collect Ka-Zar’s major guest appearances after the end of his 1981 series (such as Uncanny X-Men (1963) #274), followed by Ka-Zar (1997) #1-14, -1, & Annual 1997, a handful of 00s appearances, Marvel Comics Presents (2007) #5-7 (2nd stories) Skaar: King of the Savage Land (2011) #1-5, Ka-Zar (2011) #1-5, a handful of 10s appearances, and Ka-Zar Lord of the Savage Land (2021) #1-5.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Ka-Zar Omnibus Mapping
Kang The Conqueror Vol. 1 (1963 & on) [AKA “Time on My Side”]
See my Guide to Kang for a detailed examination of every Kang appearance, ever. Yes, that’s intense as it sounds.
At minimum, I think this collects Fantastic Four (1961) #19 & Annual 2, Avengers (1963) #8, 23-24, 69-71, 129, Giant-Size Avengers (1974) #2, Avengers (1963) #131-132, Giant-Size Avengers (1974) #3-4, Avengers (1963) #143 & 267-269, the Citizen Kang annuals crossover (Captain America (1968) Annual 11, Thor (1966) Annual 17, Fantastic Four (1961) Annual 25, Avengers (1963) Annual 21), and Avengers: The Terminatrix Objective (1993) #1-4.
However, before Citizen Kang I think it would also need to include at least sub-plot pages from Avengers (1963) #291-297 & 300 and Fantastic Four (1961) #323-325 & 337-341. Kang doesn’t appear in all of those issues, but they include plots that culminate in Citizen Kang and Terminatrix Objective.
Kang next pops up in Avengers Forever (1998) #1-12 and during his signature arc later in Avengers (1998), so I think this is a good stopping point for this book – although, given Kang’s time-traveling, you could argue to include later material that happens earlier for Kang!
Eventually, we’d want to make it to Kang the Conqueror (2021) #1-5, although I strongly suspect that Timeless (2021) #1 anf Timeless (2022) #1 will be in an eventual Avengers by Jed MacKay omnibus, since they set up that run.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Ka-Zar Omnibus Mapping
Killraven (1973 – 2003)
This would collect Amazing Adventures (1970) #18-39, Marvel Graphic Novel (1982) #7 – Killraven: Warrior of Worlds, and Marvel Team-Up (1972) #45. To differentiate it from past collections, it would add Killraven (2002) #1-6 – though that story is in a different continuity than the other material.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Kingpin Omnibus Mapping
Kingpin: Wilson Fisk (1967 & on)
BrandXK took a stab at the core contents of this book, which would pick up many significant Kingpin stories from 1967 on.
This could begin to collect Kingpin material that would include a minimum of Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #50-52, 59-61, 68-70, 83-85, 163-164; Daredevil (1964) #170-172, 206, 227-233; Marvel Graphic Novel (1981) #24 – Love and War; Web of Spider-Man (1985) #30; The Punisher (1987) #15-18; Kingpin (1997) #1; Spider-Man: Made Men (1998) #1; Kingpin (2003) #1-7; and Kingpin (2017) #1-5
Marvel Solo Heroes: Luke Cage Omnibus Mapping
Thanks to the existing Luke Cage [Power Man] omnibus from 2022 we’ve already got the first of six omnibuses that would collect everything Luke Cage into a single bookshelf! See Guide to Luke Cage – Power Man for more details.
Luke Cage: Cage – Second Chances (1992 – 1993)
This would collect the entirety of Luke Cage’s early-90s series and all of its surrounding appearances.
This would collect Cage (1992) #1-20; Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #82; Terror Inc. (1992) #11-12; Silver Sable & The Wild Pack #13-14; Punisher (1987) #60-62; Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1989) #36
Marvel Solo Heroes: Machine Man Omnibus Mapping
Machine Man (1978 – 1999)
We made an error on this title – it should be “(1978 & on)”.
An existing “Complete” trade of this character clock in at more than 400 pages and collected all of Machine Man (1978), which means we have a core of content to make this omnibus a reasonable size. It could then also continue to collect other significant 1980s Machine Man material (there’s not a lot of it) even continuing as far as his X-51 (1999) #1-12, which takes us right up to his modern appearances in Nextwave in under 60 issues!
There’s not a lot to cut there, but if we skip all of Nextwave (eventually collected elsewhere) and his two Marvel Zombies series (already collected elsewhere), we could squeeze in his anthology story in Marvel Comics Presents (2007) and a team-up with Deadpool, which brings us to Marvel Now!
This would begin to collect This would collect 2001: A Space Odyssey (1976) #8-10, Machine Man (1978) #1-19, Incredible Hulk (1968) #235-237, Marvel Team-Up (1972) Annual 3 & #99, Marvel Two-In-One (1974) #92-93, Iron Man (1968) #168, Machine Man (1984) #1-4 (not in continuity), Avengers (1963) #287-290, Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #10 (3rd story), Iron Man (1968) Annual 11 (and material from Thor Annual (1966) 15, Avengers West Coast (1989) Annual 5, and Avengers (1963) Annual 19, but not Captain America (1968) Annual 9), Avengers West Coast (1989) #83, Cable/Machine Man Annual 1998, Machine Man/Bastion Annual 1998, material from Thunderbolts (1997) #29, Uncanny X-Men (1963) #371, X-Men (1991) #91, Uncanny X-Men (1963) Annual 1999, X-51 (1999) #0-12, Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. (2006) #1-12, and Marvel Comics Presents (2007) #8-12 (2nd stories), Marvel Zombies 3 (2008) #1-4, Marvel Zombies 5 (2010) #1-5, and Deadpool Team-Up (2010) #890.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Man-Wolf Omnibus Mapping
Man-Wolf (1973 – 1981)
We’ve got this book on the poll by special request of Larry’s Library, a man of excellent taste!
This would collect Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #124-125 & 189-190; Giant-Size Super-Heroes #1; Creatures on the Loose #30-37; Marvel Premiere #45-46; Marvel Team-Up (1972) #36-37; Savage She-Hulk #13-14; anf material from Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man Annual (1976) 3.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Miracleman Omnibus Mapping
See Guide to Miracleman AKA Marvelman for one of the most concise and complete summaries of Miracleman’s publishing history you’ll find on the entire internet!
Miracleman: Marvelman, The Early Years Vol. 1 (1954 & on)
This would begin to collect Marvelman (1954) #25-370, Annual 1-8, Album 1-2, which began in Feb 1954.
However, it could also act as a line-wide book also collecting Young Marvelman (1954) #25 (which began in the same month) and continue through Young Marvelman (1954) #25-370, Annual 1-8, Album 1-2. Eventually, it would also add material from Marvelman Family (1956) #1-30.
It now seems certain we will never see the final Miracleman trilogy completed, and Miracleman by Gaiman & Buckingham (2015) #1-6 and Miracleman by Gaiman & Buckingham: The Silver Age (2022) #1-7 wouldn’t likely be marketed without their intended final chapter.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Mockingbird Omnibus Mapping
Mockingbird (1971 – 2016)
Mockingbird has an existing trade of her early material that weighs in at a substantial 450 pages, which means this omnibus already meets our minimum length criteria to consider for the poll. See Guide to Mockingbird for more info on that and all of her other material.
After that we’d add significant issues from Avengers and West Coast Avengers, as well as solo and duo stories from Solo Avengers (1987) and Avengers Spotlight (1989).
If the version of this in your head presses on to collect her post-return material in the 2000s and even her 2016 ongoing series, go for it! Mockingbird has little enough significant material that this book really could hit almost everything in her history. It’s just up to you if you picture it sticking with classic pre-2000 material or also including modern work.
This would begin to collect Astonishing Tales (1970) #8 & 11-20 (and material from #6-7); Ka-Zar (1974) #3-5; Savage Tales (1971) #8; Marvel Super-Action (1976) #1 (2nd story); Marvel Team-Up (1972) #95; Hawkeye (1983) #1-4; material from Avengers (1963) #239 & 242-246; material from West Coast Avengers (1984) #1-4; material from West Coast Avengers (1985), Avengers West Coast (1989), Solo Avengers (1987), & Avengers Spotlight (1989); Avenger West Coast (1989) #96-100; material from Secret Invasion (2008) #8; New Avengers: Reunion (2009) #1-4; Hawkeye & Mockingbird (2010) #1-6; Widowmaker (2011) #1-4; Mockingbird: S.H.I.E.L.D. 50th Anniversary (2015) #1; Mockingbird (2016) #1-8
Marvel Solo Heroes: Monica Rambeau Omnibus Mapping
Monica Rambeau – Spectrum: The Early Years (1982 – 2022) [AKA Captain Marvel: Monica Rambeau]
A “Saga of” trade already gave us a core of material for this omnibus, but it was less than 300 issues. That’s truly all there is to collect of Monica until Nextwave, aside from subsequent issues of Avengers Infinity (2000) #1-4 (which isn’t primarily her series, though she is significant in it) and Black Panther (2005) #12-13. See my Guide to Monica Rambeau – Photon & Spectrum fro more details.
That leaves us two options. We could collect more of the best of her material from Roger Stern’s run on Avengers – which I think you could trim down to about a dozen more significant issues.
Alternately, you could actually include Nextwave: Agents of Hate (2006) #1-12 here – Monica was the leader of the team and she’s in every issue!
And, you could easily fit her only significant appearances after that Marvel Divas (2009) #1-4, Marvel Holiday Special (1991) 2010, World War Hulks: Captain America vs. Wolverine (2010) #1 (2nd story), and Heralds (2010) #1-5 – maybe even concluding with an outstanding appearance in Captain Marvel (2012) #7-8 where Monica and Carol discuss the “Captain Marvel” title.”
I say… why not all three? Or, at least, your vote for this book could represent any of those three options. It would still add up to under 40 issues, even with all that Avengers material.
This would begin to collect all of Monica’s significant appearances from Amazing Spider-Man (1963) Annual 16; Avengers (1963) #227-230, Marvel Team-Up (1972) #142-143; Avengers (1963) #279 & material from 281-294; material from Solo Avengers (1987) #2; Marvel Fanfare (1982) #42 (2nd story); Captain Marvel (1989) #1; Marvel Fanfare (1982) #42 (2nd story); Captain Marvel (1994) #1; material from Avengers Unplugged (1995) #5; Avengers Infinity (2000) #1-4; Black Panther (2005) #12-13; Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E (2006) #1-12; Marvel Divas (2009) #1-4 (and material from Marvel Holiday Special (1991) 2010); World War Hulks: Captain America vs. Wolverine (2010) #1 (2nd story); Heralds (2010) #1-5; and Captain Marvel (2012) #7-8.
I think that would wrap up what we could fairly call “The Early Years,” as that gets us to a decade with a lot of Monica Rambeau team memberships that are hard to excerpt meaningfully (especially during Al Ewing’s run with her across multiple titles). However, you could hopscotch right over all of that to add Thunderbolts (2022) #1-5 and Monica Rambeau: Photon (2022) #1-5 to make this omnibus truly comprehensive.
Marvel Solo Heroes: Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur Omnibus Mapping
Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur (2016 – 2019)
This title was an error – it should read “2015 – 2025.” This would collect all of Moon Girls first decade of comics in one place!
This would be close to the size of Squirrel Girl’s massive omnibus with a hair over 60 issues of content. However, since this perfectly maps her entire first decade of comics and because it would be hard to sell multiple volumes on her name alone, I think this is a book Marvel would go HUGE on.
This would collect Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2016) #1-47; Extraordinary X-Men (2015) Annual 1; Venom (2017) #153; Monsters Unleashed (2017) #12; Moon Girl Marvel Legacy 3-page primer; Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Infinity Comic Primer (2021) #1; her 2022 team-up one-shots (Miles Morales & Moon Girl (2022) #1, Avengers & Moon Girl (2022) #1, & X-Men & Moon Girl (2022) #1); Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic (2022) #37-44; Devil Dinosaur Infinity Comic (2023) #1-4 (Jan – Mar 2023); Moon Girl (2022) AKA Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1-5; Who Is… Moon Girl Infinity Comic (2023) #1 (Feb 2023); Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur 10th Anniversary Special (2025) #1; and material from Marvel’s Voices (2020) #1, Marvel’s Voices: Legacy (2022) #1
Marvel Solo Heroes: Moon Knight Omnibus Mapping
Moon Knight: The Modern Years Vol. 1 – Bendis, Ellis, Wood, Bunn, Lemire, & Bemis (2011 – 2019) [begins to collect between Huston & MacKay]
In 2024, Omar and I bet on two heroes having combined omnibuses covering a whole period to help them with their poll placements.
One, Black Widow, helped her crack into the Top 60.
The other – this one – saw Moon Knight hit NUMBER FOUR on the poll. And, guess what? All three books that ranked ahead of him have been printed!!!
Are you looking at the new #1 Most Wanted Marvel omnibus? Perhaps! This book would cover all of Moon Knight’s material from 2011 (after the Moon Knight by Huston, Benson & Hurwitz Omnibus) until 2021 (where the Moon Knight by Jed MacKay Omnibus picks up).
If you can believe it, all of that decade of material could fit into just one book! However, given the selling strength of the names on this material, we’re probably looking at two books – Vol. 1 by Bendis, Ellis, Wood, Shalvey, & Bunn and Vol. 2 by Lemire, Smallwood, & Bemis.
This would begin to collect Moon Knight (2011) #1-12 by Bendis & Maleev; Moon Knight (2014) #1-6 by Ellis, #7-12 by Wood & Shalvey, and #13-17 by Bunn; Moon Knight (2016) #1-14 by Lemire & Smallwood, Moon Knight (2016) #188-200 by Bemis, an all-time great story in Moon Knight Annual 1/2019, a story from Marvel Comics Presents (2019) #4, and the “Age of Khonshu” story from Avengers (2018) #33-38, which folks wanted to see in the MacKay omnibus!
Marvel Solo Heroes: Ms. Marvel Omnibus Mapping
See my Guide to Ms. Marvel – Kamala Khan for complete coverage of all of Kamala’s starring series.
Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan Vol. 2 by G. Willow Wilson (2016 – 2019)
If we get this book in 2026 it will be after TEN WHOLE YEARS of waiting for a follow-up on the first G. Willow Wilson volume! Perhaps Ms. Marvel is more of a paperback hero than an omnibus all-star.
This would collect Ms. Marvel (2015) #1-38 and Generations: Ms. Marvel & Ms. Marvel (2017) #1.
Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan Vol. 3 by Saladin Ahmed (2019 – 2022) [AKA Magnificent Ms. Marvel]
This would collect all of Kamala’s appearances prior to her being pulled into the world of X-Men. We almost have a full omnibus of that material, but it’s still ongoing!
This would primarily collect Magnificent Ms. Marvel (2019) #1-18 & Annual 1, plus Ms. Marvel Infinity Comic: Bottled Up (2022) #1.
To that, I think it’s incredibly obvious to add the preceding Marvel Team-Up (2019) #1-6 by Eve Ewing, which was a Kamala-focused team-up book! I also think you have to include Eve Ewing’s Outlawed (2020) #1 for context on some of what is happening at the end of this Ahmed run.
I think we ought to also push onward for 8 more issues to Ms. Marvel: Beyond the Limit (2021) #1-5 and then Ms. Marvel and… Wolverine (2022) #1, & Moon Knight (2022), & Venom (2022).
Kamala’s three Krakoa-era mini-series Dark Web: Ms. Marvel (2022) #1-2, Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant (2023) #1-4, Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace (2024) #1-4, and NYX (2024) #1-10 form the first 20 issues of her next omnibus! But, with her anchoring a mid-year mini-event in 2025, it’s too soon to say what that map would include.
