It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Marvel Omnibus fans – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Marvel License omnibus that does NOT exist – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.
I’ll be covering Marvel’s entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your Marvel oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot on Near Mint Condition on April 28, 2025.
With Marvel printing omnibus volumes like Godzilla, ROM, and Micronauts in the past year, it seems clear that all bets are off in terms of what past licenses they’re willing to pursue for reprint in omnibus form.
This post addresses comics that Marvel originally published but does not own the full intellectual property rights to at this time. Could Marvel republish them? Anything is possible with enough demand from fans.
If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for a list of books vetted by a gang of the biggest mapping nerds on the internet with explanations from yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.
Or, if you don’t care about omnibuses, just use this post to learn about Marvel’s history and find some great comics to read!

Remember: These titles and mappings are a suggestion of how Marvel could assemble these books. They are meant to help you decide on your votes on the Tigereyes poll. Your vote on the poll is a vote in favor of Marvel creating a book with that title or covering that period, NOT an endorsement of a specific map. Maps are presented as a proof of concept and to help you build your personal reading list.

Marvel 20th Century Fox Omnibus Mapping: Alien vs Predator Omnibus
Marvel has already entirely collected all of the classic Dark Horse Alien and Predator comics. See my Guide to Alien comics, or just bully me until I finally make a Guide to Predator (eventually).
2001 A Space Odyssey (1976 – 1977)
This would collect 2001: A Space Odyssey [Marvel Treasury Special] (1976) #1, the official movie adaptation, and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1976) #1-10, a looser extension of the film (that begat Machine Man!).
Akira: The Marvel Epic Color Version Vol. 1 (1988 & on)
Marvel’s version of the all-time classic Manga Akira featured colors that were exclusive to Marvel’s license.
This would begin to collect Akira (1988) #1-38, which were 60+ pages each.
Alf, The Original Marvel Years (1988 – 1991)
The preferred licensed comic of all Near Mint Condition fans, this would collect ALF (1988) #1-50 & Annual 1-3 and the cover of Marvel Comics Presents Alf (1988) #1 (which was a reprint of issue #1.)
Alien Legion, The Original Marvel Years (1984 – 1993)
This would collect Alien Legion (1984) #1-20, Marvel Graphic Novel (1982) #25 – The Alien Legion — A Grey Day to Die (1986), Alien Legion (1987) #1-18, Alien Legion: On the Edge (1990) #1-3, Alien Legion: Slaughterworld (1991) #1, Alien Legion: Tenants of Hell (1991) #1-2, Alien Legion: Jugger Grimrod (1992) #1, Alien Legion: One Planet at a Time (1993) #1-3, Alien Legion: Binary Deep (1993) #1
Barbie: The Original Marvel Years Vol. 1 (1991 & on)
Come on, Barbie, let’s go omni!
This would begin to collect Barbie (1991) #1-63, Barbie Fashion (1991) #1-53, Barbie Halloween Special Edition (1993) #1, Barbie and Baby Sister Kelly #1
Battlestar Galactica, The Original Marvel Years (1979 – 1981)
Marvel made comics of the original Battlestar Galactica – not the incredible mid-00s reboot!
This would collect Battlestar Galactica (1979) #1-23
Beavis & Butt-Head, The Original Marvel Years (1994 – 1996)
Heh heheh heh… butt.
Collects Beavis and Butt-Head (1994) #1-28 and MTV’s Beavis & Butt-Head (1996) Wizard One-Shot AKA Ashcan, and material from collections Beavis and Butt-Head’s Greatest Hits (1994), Beavis & Butt-Head: Trash Can Edition (1994), Beavis and Butt-Head: Wanted (1995), and Beavis and Butt-Head: Holidazed and Confused (1995 or 1997?)
Big Hero 6: The Complete Edition (1998 – 2019) [collects non-Marvel material]
Here’s my now perrenial explanation of how the rights to Big Hero 6 work.
Together, writers Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, Duncan Rouleau, & Steven Seagle form the studio “Man of Action Entertainment.”
Seagle & Rouleau originally created Big Hero 6 together with the intent of them appearing in Seagle’s Alpha Flight (1997), but they wound up being released in their own mini-series Sunfire & Big Hero 6 (1998) #1-3.
Despite Big Hero 6 appearing with an X-Men character, Seagle & Rouleau retained the rights to the team – which they would later spin off into film and TV adaptions by Disney. Subsequently, Disney licensed comics of those adaptations, not all of which were made by Marvel, but the ultimate rights to which still reside with Man of Action Entertainment.
So, what would this collect? If I understand this correctly, technically all Big Hero 6 comics should be fair game if Man of Action Entertainment agreed to let Disney continue their license and depending on the individual licenses of each comic.
This would collect Sunfire & Big Hero 6 (1998) #1-3, Big Hero 6 (2008) #1-5 from Marvel, Big Hero 6 (2015) Vol. 1-2 by Yen Press, Disney Big Hero 6: Heroes of San Fransokyo (2017) OGN by Joe Books, Big Hero 6: The Series (2019) #1-3 by IDW.
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Marvel Years (1991 – 1992)
This would collect Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey: A Most Excellent Movie Adaptation (1991) #1 and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Comic Book (1991) #1-12
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: The Original Marvel Years (1989 – 1994)
This potential book did shockingly well on the 2024 poll. Can it repeat that performance this year with so many new licensed books on the poll?
This would collect the Hellraiser Marvel comics Clive Barker’s Hellraiser (1989) #1-20 & Annual 1-2, Clive Barker’s Book of the Damned: A Hellraiser Companion (1991) #1-4, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser Spring Slaughter (1994) OGN, and material from Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Posterbook (1991), and material from the UK reprint comic Clive Barker’s Hellbreed (1995) #1-3
I don’t know my Hellraiser lore, so I’m not sure if Clive Barker’s Night Breed (1990) or Clive Barker’s The Harrowers (1993) relate to this at all.
Doctor Who: The Marvel Years (1979 & on) [1984 series, maybe also UK comic strips]
This would begin to collect Doctor Who (1984) #1-23, but possibly also comics excerpted from Doctor Who Weekly (1979) #1-43, Doctor Who Monthly (1980) #44-84, Doctor Who Magazine (1984) #85-285, and Doctor Who Yearbooks
Groo by Sergio Aragones: The Marvel Years Vol. 1 (1982 & on)
This would begin to collect Groo the Wanderer (1982) #1-8 (printed by Pacific Comics, later reprinted as The Groo Chronicles (1989) #1-6), Sergio Aragonés Groo the Wanderer (1985) #1-120, Epic Graphic Novel: The Death of Groo (1987) OGN, and non-reprint material from compilations of The Groo Adventurer (1989) #1, The Groo Bazaar (1991) #1, The Groo Carnival (1991) #1, The Groo Dynasty (1992) #1, The Groo Expose (1993) #1, The Groo Festival (1993) #1, The Life of Groo the Wanderer (1993) #1, The Groo Garden (1994) #1
Heathcliff: The Star Comics Years (1985 – 1991)
This would collect Heathcliff (1985) #1-56 & Annual, Heathcliff’s Funhouse (1987) #1-10, Star Comics Presents Health Cliff Mini Comic (1987) #1
Human Fly (1977 – 1979)
This is not an adaptation of the famous Jeff Goldblum film! Instead, it’s Bill Mantlo creating a character based on real-world stuntman Rick Rojatt. This exists in a similar zone as Godzilla, with Dynamite currently printing a Human Fly comic but not printing Marvel’s classic issues because Marvel superheroes turn up in almost every issue.
This would collect The Human Fly (1977) #1-19
Marvel’s Thomas Nelson Christian Classics (1984 – 1994) [Christ stories, Illuminator, Pilgrims Progress, In His Steps, Screwtape Letters]
Someone on the Near Mint Condition joked about religious superhero The Illuminator as a Marvel 1990s rarity and I tumbled deep, deep, deep down the rabbit hole of Thomas Nelson’s decade-spanning line of faith-based comics for his own Marvel imprint.
This would collect The Easter Story (1984) #1, Illuminator (1993) #1-3, The Life of Christ (1993) #1, The Life of Christ: The Easter Story (1993) #1, Pilgrim’s Progress (1992) OGN, In His Steps (1994) OGN, The Screwtape Letters (1994) OGN
Moonshadow by Jon Muth (1985 – 1987)
We goofed! This was a valid poll entry last year, but it is getting a reprint from Dark Horse next week – which means it is ineligible for the poll!
This would collect Moonshadow (1985) #1-12
Razorline by Clive Barker (1993 – 1994) [Ectokid, Hokum & Hex, Hyperkind, Saint Sinner]
This would collect Ectokid (1993 series) #1-9, Hokum & Hex (1993) #1-9, Hyperkind (1993) #1-9, Saint Sinner (1993) #1-7
Ren & Stimpy Show: The Original Marvel Years (1992 – 1996)
This would collect Marvel’s comics adapting this pair of rude mid-90s cartoon characters, which includes the first comics work of Dan Slott!
This would begin to collect The Ren & Stimpy Show (1992) #1-44 & Mini-Comic as well as material from The Ren & Stimpy Show Eenteracteeve Special (1995), The Ren & Stimpy Show Halloween Special Edition (1993), The Ren & Stimpy Show Holiday Special (1995), The Ren & Stimpy Show Special (1994), The Ren & Stimpy Show Special: Four Swerks (1995), The Ren & Stimpy Show Special: Powdered Toast Man (1994), The Ren & Stimpy Show Special: Powdered Toastman’s Cereal Serial (1995), The Ren & Stimpy Show Special: Sports (1995), The Ren & Stimpy Show: Around the World in a Daze (1996), and The Ren & Stimpy Show: Radio Daze (1995).
Robocop: The Marvel Years (1990 – 1992)
I’ve seen some folks assume this is a FOX property since they released some of Robocop’s home media, but the current owner of the franchise rights is Amazon MGM Studios.
This would collect Robocop (1990) #1-23; Robocop (1990) #1: The Movie Adaptation; Robocop 2 (1990) #1-3
Shadowline by Epic Comics (1988 – 1990)
It’s unclear to me if this is technically an imprint or a licensed property, since it was all created by Archie Goodwin.
This would collect Doctor Zero (1988) #1-8, Powerline (1988) #1-8, St. George (1988) #1-8, and A Shadowline Saga: Critical Mass (1990) #1-7
Shogun Warriors, The Original Marvel Years (1979 – 1980)
This series was based on a line of Mattel toys.
This would collect Shogun Warriors (1979 #1-20
Star Trek: The Marvel Years (1980 – 1982)
While IDW holds the current Star Trek license, we haven’t seen a worldwide reprint of this material (which began with an adaptation of the original film) since 2009. Eaglemoss reprinted some issues in 2017 in the UK.
This would collect Star Trek (1980) #1-18
Tales of America: Team America, US-1, & NFL Superpro (1982 – 1992)
This combines the all-American motorcycle stunt team Team America (1982) #1-12, the big truck comic U.S. 1 (1983) #1-12, and football-playing superhero NFL Superpro (1991) #1-12.
Tarzan: The Original Marvel Years (1977 – 1979)
I’m not 100% clear on the intellectual property rights on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan, which seem to differ between printed work and film. To the best of my knowledge, Disney only held to animated film rights and accompanying licensing. Since this comic predates the Disney film by over two decades, the likeness and rights have no relation to the Disney material.
The potential to reprint this series is prized by classic Marvel fans in large part due to art from John & Sal Buscema.
This would collect Tarzan (1977) #1-29 & Annual 1-3
Toxic Avenger & The Toxic Crusaders: The Marvel Years (1991 – 1992)
Ahoy Comics hold the current rights to Toxic Avenger (and just produced a weird and hilarious new origin for him), but it’s unclear if theyhold the rights to reprint these Marvel comics.
This would collect The Toxic Avenger (1991) #1-11, Toxic Crusaders (1992) #1-8
Ultraman by Kyle Higgins (2020 & on)
This would collect Ultraman: Rise of Ultraman (2020) #1-5, Trials of Ultraman (2021) #1-5, Ultraman the Mystery of Ultraseven (2022) #1-5, Ultraman X Avengers (2024) #1-4
WCW: World Championship Wrestling: The Marvel Years (1992 – 1993)
This would collect WCW World Championship Wrestling (1992) #1-12
Buffy the Vampire Slayer also had a line of comics from Boom Studios (2019-2023). There’s enough issues for a full volumes.
