It’s the most wonderful time of the year for Marvel Omnibus fans – time for the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot! This post explains every Ultimate Marvel omnibus that does NOT exist – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.
For the next two weeks, I’ll be covering Marvel’s entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your Marvel oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted Marvel Omnibus 13th Annual Secret Ballot on Near Mint Condition on April 28, 2025.
With the 2025 releases Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol. 1 and Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 5, as well as Ultimate X-Men Vol. 3 in January 2026, we’re now just six omnibuses away from total coverage of the Ultimate line (or five, depending on how you count).
If you’re not sure of what to vote for, stick around for a list of books vetted by a gang of the biggest mapping nerds on the internet with explanations from yours truly – keeper of the most-definitive guides to Marvel’s collected editions on the planet.
Or, if you don’t care about omnibuses, just use this post to learn about Marvel’s history and find some great comics to read!

Ultimate Marvel Omnibus Mapping, Pre-Ultimatum
Ultimate Marvel Companion (2001 – 2008) [includes Adventures, Daredevil & Elektra, Iron Man, etc]
Last year, we thought the centerpiece of this book would be Ultimate Marvel Team-Up (2001). However, now that book has been incorporated into the official Ultimate Marvel omnibus line by being included in the announced Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 5.
What remains for this book to collect? Much less than before! I think it remains a comprehensive collection of all pre-Cataclysm orphaned series, including some material which has subsequently been made non-canon or retconned.
That said, pickings are getting slim enough here that you could very reasonably make the case that this should convert to “Ultimate Galactus & Other Stories,” which is what we might do next year – especially because Ultimate Vision (2007) is at risk of being abandoned at this point.
This would collect Ultimate Spider-Man Super Special #1, Ultimate Marvel Magazine #1-11, Ultimate Daredevil & Elektra #1-4, Ultimate Adventures #1-6, Ultimate Elektra #1-5, Ultimate Iron Man #1-5 and Ultimate Iron Man II #1-5, and possible Ultimate Power (2006) #1-9.
Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol. 2 (2004 – 2009) [could include Galactus Trilogy]
The basics of this collection are already obvious, because they map exactly from the existing Fantastic Four oversize hardcovers, which finish collecting the series with Ultimate Fantastic Four (2004) #60.
However, in the same way that Ultimate X-Men Vol. 3 Omnibus wound up including the majority of Ultimatum, I have to wonder if this would include at least Ultimate Secret (2005) and Ultimate Extinction (2006), which include members of this cast. If it does, I think it also has to include Ultimate Nightmare (2004) to complete the so-called “Ultimate Galactus Trilogy” even though the F4 don’t appear there, and possibly even Ultimate Vision (2007) #0-5.
Similarly, the team is heavily involved in Ultimate Power (2006) and the “Ultimate Doomsday Trilogy.”
That gives us some things to consider on this map.
This will collect Ultimate Fantastic Four (2004) #33-60, Annual 2, Ultimate X4 #1-2, Ultimate Fantastic Four/Ultimate X-Men Annual (2008) #1, Ultimate X-Men/Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual (2008) #1, material from Ultimatum and Ultimate Fantastic Four: Requiem. Optionally, they could include Ultimate FF (2014) #1-6 from much, much later in the line.
It could wind up adding some or all of “Ultimate Galactus Trilogy” after issue #32 (Ultimate Nightmare (2004) #1-5, Ultimate Secret (2005) #1-4 after issue #46, Ultimate Extinction (2006) #1-5, Ultimate Vision (2007) #0-5), Ultimate Power (2006) #1-9, and “Ultimate Doomsday Trilogy” after issue #60 and Ultimatum material (Ultimate Comics Enemy (2010) #1-4, Ultimate Mystery (2010) #1-4 and Ultimate Comics Doom (2010) #1-4).
If that was the case, this would probably by two volumes, breaking at either issue #41 or #46.
Ultimate Marvel: Ultimatum (2006 – 2009)
This would be a pure Event Omnibus, collecting all of the March on Ultimatum bannered titles leading to the main mini-series, as well as Requiem epilogues.
Note that the Spider-Man, X-Men and Fantastic Four materials are all collected in their respective lines (or expected to be for F4), and the X-Men line includes the main event, so this isn’t strictly required to fill a gap on your shelf at this point.
This would collect Ultimates 3 (2008) #1-5, Ultimate Origins (2008) #1-5, March on Ultimatum (Ultimate Captain America (2008) Annual 1, Ultimate Fantastic Four/Ultimate X-Men Annual (2008) #1, Ultimate Hulk (2008) Annual 1, Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) Annual 03, Ultimate X-Men/Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual (2008) #1), March on Ultimatum Saga (2008) One-Shot, Ultimatum (2009) #1-5, Ultimate X-Men (2001) #98-100, Ultimate Fantastic Four (2003) #58-60, Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) #129-133, and Ultimatum Requiem (Ultimatum: Spider-Man Requiem (2009) #1-2, Fantastic Four Requiem (2009) #1, and X-Men Requiem (2009) #1), Ultimate Spider-Man: Requiem #1-2, and Marvel Spotlight: Ultimatum (2008) #1.
This book could easily start with Ultimate Power (2006) #1-9, since #7-9 were the first issues to carry the “March on Ultimatum” banner. If it did, it would also collect Ultimate Human (2008) #1-4, which leads to Ultimates 3 (2008). It could also collect Ultimate Armor Wars (2009) #1-4, Iron Man’s next appearance after Ultimatum.
Ultimate Marvel Omnibus Mapping, Post-Ultimatum
Ultimate X-Men Vol. 4 (2010 – 2013) [AKA Ultimate Comics X-Men]
This omnibus would continue the Ultimate X-Men line by collecting the run of relaunched Ultimate X-Men comics after Ultimatum.
This would collect Ultimate X (2010-2011) #1-5, Ultimate Comics X-Men (2011-2013) #1-33, and Ultimate Comics Wolverine (2013) #1-4, and material from Ultimate Fallout (2011) #1-6
It could optionally include All-New Ultimates (2014-2015) #1-12, since that team was lead by Kitty Pryde. That might also fit into a Cataclysm/End book. Also, due to the antagonists involved, it wouldn’t be out of place to include Ultimate Comics Hawkeye (2011) #1-4 between Ultimate X and Ultimate Comics X-Men.
Ultimate Comics: The Ultimates (2012 – 2015)
This book used to have more content prior to Ultimate Marvel by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus, which collected Ultimate Comics Ultimates (2011) and series from Thor and Hawkeye. Despite being a slim creator-centric omnibus, there’s nothing really out-of-place in that book that would give us a reason to have to re-collect it aside from the fact that it doesn’t include the entirety of Ultimate Comics Ultimates (2011).
As a result, this would collect Ultimate Comics Ultimates (2011) #13-30 & 18.1, Ultimate Comics Iron Man (2012) #1-4, Cataclysm: Ultimates (2013) #1-3, and Cataclysm: The Ultimates Last Stand (2013) #1-5. It could also continue to All-New Ultimates (2014-2015) #1-12, though that might also fit into a Cataclysm/End book.
At 32-44 issues, it could optionally include some or all of the 20 issues from Ultimate Marvel by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus if you feel strongly about that.
Ultimate Comics: Cataclysm and The End (2013 – 2015) [includes 2014 Ultimates & FF series]
I remain staunch in my opinion that this should be a single massive book collecting everything from Cataclysm through the end of the Marvel Ultimate Universe! Every series other than Spider-man reboots after Cataclysm, and every series ends with The End.
This would duplicate the existing oversize hardcover of Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand, the collect anything from the end phase of Ultimate Marvel that didn’t map into another omnibus before resolving with Ultimate End (2015).
First, this would collect Hunger (2013) #1-4 followed by Cataclysm (2013) #0.1, Cataclysm: The Ulimates’ Last Stand (2013) #1-5, Cataclysm: Ultimate Spider-Man (2013) #1-3, Cataclysm: Ultimate X-Men (2013)#1-3, Cataclysm: Ultimates (2013) #1-3, and Survive! (2014) #1.
It would continue to collect All-New Ultimates (2014) #1-12, Ultimate FF (2014) #1-6, and Ultimate End (2015) #1-5, probably supported from some excerpted material from Hickman’s Avengers: Time Runs Out and Secret Wars (2015) #0. Optionally, it could fit Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man (2014) #1-12, although that would obviously double-dip from Miles’s omnibus line.
Hi Krisis,
I voted for Ultimatum on the poll, I feel as though the book should also include Ultimate Comics: New Ultimates. This post-ultimatum series was written by Loeb (with art by Frank Cho) and does explore a few plot threads from the event. Also it’s in danger of being orphaned as it happens before any of the material in the Sam Humphries book.
Also a note on the Ultimate Companion, Ultimate Marvel Magazine was a reprint title with no new material, collecting two issues of either Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel Team-Up or X-Men alongside a few pop culture news articles.
