Breaking network news indicates that a third plane has crashed into the Pentagon within the last half hour. The section where the impact occurred had just been newly remodeled and reopened to workers. Someone was quoted as saying that the “floor buckled and the roof caved in.” During the day the Pentagon is literally a small city… hosting over 35,000 workers. Reporters noted that people have been brought out of the building on stretchers.
Not to be a newsmonger, but i am a Journalism student, and so far the coverage of this is ridiculous.
Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center towers in New York City this morning within less than a half hour of each other. So far there is no official word on the motive or on any casualties. The first plane struck shortly before 9am and was described by witnesses as a small twin engine passenger jet. A witness from Dow Jones was quoted as stating that “it looked like the wing crashed down to the street” despite the fact that the majority of the aircraft remain lodged in the upper floors of the building.
The second plane was filmed by television cameras already present as a result of the first crash, and appeared to be a Boeing 737. MSNBC reports that “the FBI said it was investigating reports of a hijacking. A United Airlines employee said he had heard reports that an American Airlines jet had been hijacked and was one of the two aircraft that flew into the center. It was not clear if there were passengers on board.”
The last infamous terrorist attack on the World Trade Center occurred on February 26th, 1993 in the form of a truck bomb. The blast killed six people in injured over a thousand others.

I’m actually feeling somewhat violated by this whole McDonald’s debacle. Basically, their fries are vegetarian all over the world except in America, where they’ve been prepared with beef extract somewhere along the line. In India the cow is sacred, and so McDonalds respects that. In Britain vegetarians are a minority that actually holds some sway, and McDonald’s conceded. Yet, here in America where we’re just a bunch of ineffectual cow-munching idiots, McDonald’s has given no indication that they’ll change their preparation of fries. I was a vegetarian through all of the latter half of highschool and my first year at college, and i know for a fact that in that time i’ve had plenty of McDonald’s fries and i honestly feel like my decision to be a healthier person was violated by a multinational corporation with no respect for the people it serves. In light of this, maybe fast food restaurants need to indicate what’s really vegetarian on their menus, because sometimes vegetarians get hungry for some drive-thru too. As a result of all of this, i am hereby boycotting all McDonald’s products until the fries are vegetarian once again. This will be especially painful for me because i have a serious addiction to McDonald’s hashbrowns (which probably aren’t vegetarian either). Have a nice day. (stole from Re)
Whee! After a very quiet month on the ‘Ginger’ front, we finally have a piece of solid speculation. He basically takes what i’ve been assuming all along and actually holds it up against some of the patent drawings that’ve been floating around the internet. While i’m still not totally sold on how Kamen’s invention will be bigger than the internet, i think i’m beginning to see the ramifications of it. Go take a look for yourself.
Ha! Amazon.com put up a product page for DeanCamen’s IT product, even though no one seems to have any firmly rooted idea of what it is. Or, at least, no one who can say anything about it. While this move by Amazon.com seems fun and lighthearted, its cuteness is compromised by the fact that Jeff Bezos (Amazon bigwig) is one of IT’s major proponents and backers. Is this yet another inside move to publicize the so called Ginger device while still withholding information from the public? It seems a bit suspicious to me…
