The Pull List: Babyteeth, Black Bolt, Captain America, Crosswind, Giant Days, and more!

January 6, 2018 by krisis

What did I read this week that was newly released and wasn’t X-Men?

I’m still a long way off from being caught up to all of present-day Marvel, so I have to choose my battles – reading series that are in the early stages of their Legacy numbering or have few enough issues that I can catch up all the way. A handful of indie series I follow (one only begrudgingly) also dropped this week.

This post covers:

  • Babyteeth (2017) #7
  • Batman (2016) #38
  • Blackbolt (2017) #9
  • Captain America (2017) #697
  • Crosswind (2017) #6
  • Giant Days (2015) #34
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (2017) #150
  • Paper Girls (2015) #19
  • Spider-Man (2016) #236
  • Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles (2018) #1 [Read more…] about The Pull List: Babyteeth, Black Bolt, Captain America, Crosswind, Giant Days, and more!

Crushing Comics S01E041 – The little things that keep you alive + War of Kings & Realm of Kings

December 18, 2017 by krisis

Today I muse over our self-image, how I used to be called “Spockchild,” and how my first haircut in Wellington made me think of how we sometimes take for granted all of the little aspects of life that keep us alive.

Then, I unwrap a massive hunk of Cosmic Marvel and get to talk about Nova, War of Kings, and Realm of Kings … plus throw a little shade about how Abnett & Lanning ran a better X-Men and Inhumans event than Marvels actual Inhumans vs. X-Men even in early 2017.

Want to start from the beginning of this season of videos? Here’s the complete Season 1 playlist of Crushing Comics.

Episode 41 features Nova: Annihilation, War of Kings, Realm of Kings, Annihilators, and The Thanos Imperative. See Marvel Universe Events for more information.

Crushing Comics S01E20 – Marvel’s Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest hardcovers

November 20, 2017 by krisis

In this episode I open a massive hunk of modern cosmic Marvel that is a massive fan favorite and the birthplace of the Guardians of the Galaxy as we know them today. I give a quick crash course on where Marvel’s galactic characters where in 2006 prior to Annihilation, and a hint of where they head after Annihilation Conquest.

Want to start from the beginning of this season of videos? Here’s the complete Season 1 playlist of Crushing Comics.

Episode 20 features the contents of the Annihilation Omnibus (Amazon / eBay) in the form of Annihilation Book 1 OHC (Amazon / eBay), Annihilation Book 2 OHC (Amazon / eBay), & Annihilation Book 3 OHC (Amazon / eBay), and 2/3rds of the contents of Annihilation Conquest Omnibus (Amazon / eBay) in Annihilation Conquest Book 1 OHC (Amazon / eBay) and Annihilation Conquest Book 2 OHC (Amazon / eBay).

Read more about Annihilation in the Guide to Marvel Events, or follow the formation of the Guardians of the Galaxy in their guide.

Marvel Collected Editions Solicits – March, 2017

July 4, 2016 by krisis

Marvel_logoHere’s a holiday surprise for you – another month of Marvel solicitations just arrived on Amazon! These books take us though the Amazon release date of March 28, which means these books will hit the direct market on March 14. I covered the January and February solicits last month.

I’ve broken out the books below. They don’t yet list their contents, so I’ve made a few educated guesses until we can fill in the final contents. If you pre-order with Amazon, please keep in mind that Amazon releases dates are two weeks later that Direct Market release dates.

  • Marvel Masterworks
  • Oversized Hardcover & Omnibus Collections
  • Epic Collections
  • Pre-Premiere TPB Era Material (through 1999)
  • Premiere TPB Era Material Recollections (from 2000)
  • All-New, All-Different Marvel Collections
  • Other Releases

Please note: This post will not be updated with corrected dates, titles, or issue ranges for these titles. For the most up-to-date information, visit the accompanying collection guide pages.

Marvel Masterworks

There’s only one of these books released each month, so this big reveal is a guaranteed feature of each new month of solicits. [Read more…] about Marvel Collected Editions Solicits – March, 2017
