New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – May 7 2025

May 1, 2025 by krisis

Fantastic Four Fanfare (2025) #3, a Marvel Comics May 7 2025 new releaseNext week is the 19th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics May 7 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics April 30 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: a Fantastic anthology, all-new revelations for Venom, an Annihilation reprint, the disoriented Spider-Man, Psylocke & The X-Women, digital Jeff in print, the best Deadpool Epic, Sam Wilson ends, a new Star Wars, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: This is an easy pick – Alan Davis writing or drawing anything is an instant appointment for me, so him being the launch creator for the new anthology series Fantastic Four Fanfare (2025) #1 means it’s immediately my pick of the week! However, I’m also interested to see how things develop in All-New Venom (2024) #6.

This post includes every comic out from Marvel Comics May 7 2025, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats.

This isn’t the typical comic releases post you can find on other sites. Why? I explain each collection and review every series with a new issue out this week. Plus, for every new release, I’ll point you to a personally-curated guide within the Crushing Comics Guide to Marvel Comics to find out how to collect that title in full!

There’s no other website on the internet that can claim that.

And now, onto Marvel Comics May 7 2025 new releases! [Read more…] about New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – May 7 2025

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader (2025) #3, a Marvel Comics April 16 2025 new releaseNext week is the 16th new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics April 16 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics April 9 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: Tony Stark’s anti-Doom insurgency, Elektra & Ghost Rider vs. Muse, Epic Modern Widow, Godzilla vs. 70s Hulk, Aaron Wolverine reprinted, Spider-Men battle paired foes, some mysterious Superior Avengers, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: Marvel’s line is in a rough spot without many exciting comic series at the moment, so my pick of the week has to default to a Star Wars book for a second week in a row. Congratulations, Star Wars: Legacy of Vader (2025) #3, your my pick because Marvel’s superhero editorial strategy at the moment is a dumpster fire! Although, in truth, I do find this series pretty fun – as is the case anytime Charles Soule deep dives into a villain.

New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – January 15 2025

Storm (2024) #4, a Marvel Comics January 15 2025 new release

Next week is the 3rd new comic book day of 2025! This post covers Marvel Comics January 15 2025 new releases. Missed this week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics January 8 2025 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: Blade Epics hit the 90s, the Road to Onslaught re-collected, Aliens in Paradise, the Deadly Phil Coulson, an Asgardian jam, Rogue in the Savage Land, Storm vs. Doom, Ultimate Wolverine debuts, and more!

The Krisis Pick of the Week: Storm (2024) #4! With more issues, I think this series could have easily been my favorite comic of 2024. Murewa Ayodele is walking a tightrope of plot that could result in a major fall, but it feels like his balance just gets better with every issue. Having Lucas Werneck along for art helps! See below for more thoughts on this excellent solo run.

Marvel Comics January 15 2025 Collected Editions

Blade Epic Collection Vol. 2: Nightstalkers
(2025 paperback, ISBN 978-1302956547 / digital)
See Guide to Blade. The Blade Epic Collection line starts with a bang by picking him up in the 90s, recollecting Tomb of Dracula (1991) #1-4 and pressing onward to Nightstalkers (1992) #1-6. Issues #2-5 are collected here in color for the first time!

That also hints that a first Epic Collection will wind up being a slimmed down version of the Blade: The Early Years omnibus that ends on Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #64, which makes sense since it collects a heck of a lot of Tomb of Dracula (1972).

Marvel Masterworks: Ka-Zar Vol. 4
(2025 hardcover, ISBN 978-1302955601 / digital)
Damnit, I really need a Ka-Zar guide! Marvel presses on with an unexpected fourth volume of this Masterworks line that collects Ka-Zar (1974) #10-20, [Uncanny] X-Men (1963) #115-116; and material from Rampaging Hulk (1977) #9 and Marvel Fanfare (1982) #56-59.

I was truly puzzled that this is leap-frogging Ka-Zar’s entire 1981 series to pick up the later Shanna The She-Devil story from the end of Marvel Fanfare until I realized that story is told in flashback and fits here – not only in continuity, but in when Steve Gerber originally wrote the script!

That makes this an incredibly rare Masterwork that skips ahead for later material, alongside Ms. Marvel Vol. 2 (which picks up Chris Claremont’s unfinished Ms. Marvel (1977) issues that were burned off as anthology stories over a decade later). New Comics & Collected Editions Releases: Marvel Comics – June 5 2024

May 31, 2024 by krisis

It’s the 23nd new comic book day of the new year! This post covers Marvel Comics June 5 2024 releases. Missed last week’s releases? Check out last week’s post covering Marvel Comics May 29 2024 new releases.

This week in Marvel Comics: The Ultimates debut, Alpha Flight divided, Ms. Marvel’s Inhumans reunion, Lando’s verdict, a second Spencer Spidey omni, the Age of Krakoa finale, and more!

This list includes every comic and digital comic out from Marvel this week, plus collected editions in omnibus, hardcover, paperback, and digest-sized formats. I recap and review every new single issue. Plus, for every new release, I’ll point you to the right guide within my Crushing Comics Guide to Marvel Comics to find out how to collect each character in full – and, if a guide is linked from this post, that means it is updated through the present day!

Marvel Comics June 5 2024 Collected EditionsAlpha Flight (2023) Vol. 1: Divided We Stand, a Marvel Comics June 5 2024 new release

Alpha Flight: Divided We Stand
(2024 paperback, ISBN 978-1302952457 / digital)
See Guide to Alpha Flight. I really, really loved this Ed Brisson & Scott Godlweski Alpha Flight mini-series that was a part of the Fall of X fallout from the 2023 Hellfire Gala.

I have a lot of affection for the core Alpha Flight characters and Ed Brisson voiced all of them particularly well as he explored how they might be stuck on separate sides of the mutant conflict. I think this reads just fine as a standalone outside of a full-on Krakoa read, since most of these characters are non-mutants and not a big part of the past five years of X-Men.

The Amazing Spider-Man By Nick Spencer Omnibus Vol. 2
(2024 oversize hardcover, ISBN 978-1302953645 / digital)
See Guide to Spider-Man – Peter Parker (2018 – Present). This collects the final half of Nick Spencer’s run on Amazing Spider-Man (2018). I deeply disliked this comic – it felt like a Spider-Man with no jokes and no heart. I think if you are an Osborn Family superfan this would appeal to you, as it deals with a lot of the intricacies of the relationship between Norman and Harry. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it.

In a curious turn of events, the next omnibus is already available – Amazing Spider-Man: Beyond Omnibus (2023 oversize hardcover, ISBN 978-1302949624 / digital), which contains the entire final portion of this run that reintroduces Ben Reilly.

Black Panther by Eve L. Ewing Vol. 2: Reign at Dusk
(2024 paperback, ISBN 978-1302948849 / digital)
See Guide to Black Panther. I was soft on this series from Dr. Ewing to start, but after the first three issues I really warmed to it and I was bummed to see it end abruptly at issue #10.

I think Ewing did something intriguing and much-needed here by defining more of the urban environment of Wakanda outside of the capital city and exploring T’Challa’s relationship to it outside of being king. Plus, she brought in strong new supporting players and villains. If you can get into a more slow, cerebral take on Black Panther that does not have the political bent of Coates’s run, this could be for you. X-Men: From The Ashes – The Definitive Collecting Guide & Reading Order

Updated May 8, 2025! The definitive, chronological, and up-to-date guide on collecting X-Men: From the Ashes, including X-Men flagship titles by Gail Simone, Jed McKay, Eve Ewing, and more in comic books via omnibuses, hardcovers, and trade paperback graphic novels. A part of Crushing Krisis’s Crushing Comics. Last updated May 2025 with titles scheduled for release through January 2026.

X-Men: From the Ashes - Ryan Stegman teaserIn March 2024 Marvel Comics answered the question of how the X-Men line will move on from The Age of Krakoa with the announcement of X-Men: From the Ashes.

Editor Tom Brevoort introduced the From the Ashes era by saying, “The X-Men are fractured in the aftermath of the end of Krakoa, scattered across the globe without a central base of operation. What that means in practice is that all three titles carrying the name X-MEN are core X-MEN series—they all center around one of the major aspects of what the team has been about at different points. This is very much by design. We want to field a wide assortment of X-titles with different styles and tones and approaches, an X-MEN book for virtually any taste.”

This new era of X-Men comics launched in July 2024 with three co-flagship books all with “X-Men” in the title, as well as three further team books (NYX, X-Factor, X-Force) and three solo titles (Phoenix, Storm, Wolverine). Those nine books quickly expanded with a trio of mini-series (Dazzler, Mystique, Sentinels) and a second wave of solo book announcements (Laura Kinney – Wolverine, Psylocke, Magik).

This era is marked by a “play the hits” approach to X-Men that gets them back to being hated and feared and eschews as much of the complex character work and morally gray approach of Krakoa as possible. The line is almost universally designed to call back to existing runs and concepts, with only Storm offering a truly original vision out of the initial 12 comics in the line. In particular, NYX is particular reverent of developments from Krakoa.

This guide will be regularly updated as issues are released and new titles are announced.
