Every Missing Robin, Red Hood, & Nightwing Omnibus, Mapped | 2025 Tigereyes Most Wanted DC Omnibus Poll

May 15, 2025 by krisis Leave a Comment

Most Wanted DC Omnibus - Batman Family Robin & Nightwing Omnibus MappingIt’s time to map the DC Universe! In June, I’ll be joining with Near Mint Condition to launch the Tigereyes Most Wanted DC Omnibus 2nd Annual Poll! This post explains every Robin, Red Hood, & Nightwing omnibus that does NOT exist – all of which will appear as options on the 2025 poll.

Through the end of May I’ll be covering DC entire publishing history by mapping missing omnibus volumes to fill in every gap in your DC oversize shelf! That’s all leading to the kickoff of the Tigereyes Most Wanted DC Omnibus 2nd Annual Poll on Near Mint Condition the first week of June.

When it comes to Batman’s sons, only one of them has had a good year in omnibus – Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing. Yet, even with a pair of Rebirth era omnis out for Dick this year, all of his pre-Flashpoint material remains uncollected in everyone’s favorite oversize format save for one Bronze Age volume as Robin.

Meanwhile, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne have no solo omnis to show for themselves, and Jason Todd as Red Hood has just one (which was reprinted this year, so maybe DC is teeing up for a second one)!

If you want to see Batman’s boys in oversize format, you need to vote for their books!

Batman Family: Batgirl, Robin, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, & Nightwing Omnibus Mapping for the Tigereyes Most Wanted DC Omnibus 1st Annual Poll

May 14, 2024 by krisis

Most Wanted DC Omnibus - Batman Family Batgirl Catwoman Nightwing Omnibus MappingThe Batman Omnibus Mapping will continue until morale improves! And, well, if morale is already high, I’m going to keep it up anyway. I’ll be loosely mapping missing and most-wanted DC omnibus volumes every day until May 19th! Then, on the 19th, I’ll be joining with Near Mint Condition to launch the first annual Tigereyes Most Wanted DC Omnibus Annual Poll! This post covers the extended Batman Family – Azrael, Batgirl, Robin, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, & Nightwing Omnibus mapping and more, including suggestions for villain omnibuses!

This post explains potential Batman Family Omnibus Mapping for votes on the Tigereyes Most Wanted DC Omnibus 1st Annual Secret Ballot. I’m posting all of these maps before the poll begins to give people the time to consider their favorites, correct our mapping mistakes, and catch books I might have missed.

If you don’t know DC well enough to know what to vote for, stick around for my explanations! Learn why the team behind the poll decided on these books and titles – including giving us feedback if we missed the mark.

If voting is now open, you can use this as your crib sheet! Or… just find some great comics to read!

Remember: These mappings are just my suggestion of how DC could assemble these books. They are meant to help you decide on your votes and build your personal reading list, but your vote on the poll is NOT an endorsement of my specific map. It’s a vote in favor of DC creating a book with that title or covering that period.

High-effort, heavily-researched, over-the-top comics posts like this one are made possible via the support of Patrons of Crushing Krisis. For less than the cost of a single comic issue a month you can fuel my in-depth comics coverage, plus gain access to dozens of exclusive collecting guides & reading orders – including all of the Crushing Comics Guide to DC Comics.

The Pull List: Action Comics, Avengers, Eternity Girl, Infidel, Judas, Marvel Two-in-One, Vampironica, & more!

March 18, 2018 by krisis

The Pull List was slightly lighter this week than the past three, partially due to me not managing to pick up any additional ongoings from Marvel or DC. I made a heroic effort to catch all the way up with Doctor Strange, but fell an arc short.

This week’s comics felt a little ho-hum for me, with even typical standouts like Flash and Paradiso falling flat. However, it also brought not one but two near-perfect comics, plus one unexpectedly great debut.

Here’s The Pull List for the 14th of March, 2018. New adds to the pull list are marked with *; dropped titles are marked with #.

Before we begin, a reminder that 2.5 stars on my rating scale is an average comic book and my bell curve distribution peaks at 3/5 stars! Don’t freak out and assume a comic book is terrible because it has 2 stars. That means it’s just a hair below average (and there are a lot of those this week)

Picks of the Pull

Big Two (Marvel/DC) Pick of the Week:
Action Comics (2016) #999, DC Comics

Dan Jurgens leaves us with a truly perfect, contemplative issue of Superman that puts a wrap on his stellar Rebirth run but also addresses his writing from over 25 years ago, as beautifully rendered by artist Will Conrad and colorist Ivan Nunes.

In Metropolis, Lois is newly reunited with her estranged Army General father after saving him from execution in the last arc. It’s his first time meeting Jon (sort of), but General Lane isn’t in on the Superman secret, so he thinks Jon is a regular kid. That makes it even more tense as Lois and her father square off across the dinner table about the philosophy of Superman. Jon has never been exposed to this kind of hatred and xenophobia about his father before – which is also, by extension, aimed at him.

Meanwhile, Superman is in space dealing with a routine chore of breaking up an asteroid that will stray a bit too close to Earth for STAR Labs liking. Superman is thinking about fathers – General Lane, his own father Jor-El, as well as Zod – all of whom were tangled in the cross-time plot he just wrapped with Booster Gold.

Superman can see the errors in the ways of each of those parents and they in turn reflect his errors back upon him. Clark Kent is good-natured to a fault, but he’s not always right. General Lane isn’t entirely wrong about him – sometimes his absolute power corrupts him, both in how he metes out justice and in how he isn’t accustomed to apologizing for his actions.

As a result, Superman decides to put right two wrongs. One is with Hank Henshaw, the Cyborg Superman, who he currently has imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. The other, eventually is General Lane. Robin, The Boy Wonder – Definitive Collecting Guide and Reading Order

Updated Mar 26, 2025! The definitive issue-by-issue collecting guide and trade reading order for Robin in DC comic books as collected in omnibus, hardcover, and trade paperback collections. Part of Crushing Krisis’s Crushing Comics and The Definitive Guide to Collecting Batman Comics. Updated March 2025 with titles scheduled for release through December 2025.

Robins-assembledRobin, The Boy Wonder! Or, should we say, “The Boys (and Girl) Wonder”?

Batman’s sidekick and apprentice has been a critical, defining element of the caped crusader from his first appearance a year into Batman’s life to his omnipresence in Batman stories of the Golden and Silver Age to handing down the mantle to new heroes starting in the early 1980s.

Robin gives Batman contrast – makes him vulnerable but also relatable. On his own, Robin often represents represents the exuberance, athleticism, and growth that the more static character of Bruce Wayne cannot show.

Robin began to appear in his own short, back-up stories in Star Spangled Comics in 1947-1952, sometimes as the headlining star. He would later be a founding member of Teen Titans, and the current holder of the Robin mantle is almost always on the team. In the 1990s, a third incarnation of Robin launched into the first Robin limited and ongoing series. Later, in 2009, Batman and Robin became a core title in DC’s Batman line.
